i am at the dunwich building, i know it's going to be killer from the not-so-subtle name

i also ran across a black radscorpion getting there, hadn't seen one of those before

i love the blissful ignorance of an rpg character

"don't go there.  it's evil!"

"sweet.  i'm on my way"

Dunwich has a cool little mini-story involved if you collect the various audio tapes. You see the shocking twist at the very end, and you get good karma for it too!

Okay just did a certain mission and holy fuck this game

spoiler (click to show/hide)
has some seriously awesome missions. The GECK mission is prob one of my favorite missions ever in a game, and it's defintly my second favorite black and white video game scene ever, right next to the amazing Steamboat Willie part in KH2. Too bad FO3 couldn't be as awesome as this mission. What was the point of the rolling pin btw? I kept failing because I killed that one girl (not betty, the one you have to make it an accident) with it, or I tried to hit betty and she just blew me up.

People said Vault 112 was supposed to be scary but I thougnht it was amazing. Too bad you don't get to experience the other GECKS :(

I DIDNT FUCK UP YOU IDIOT.

If they can't code a work around for a thing they added into the game, then it's broken. Just because there's a perk that can get you behind doesn't mean shit. What if it breaks again?

Face it; this game has bugs.

They did code a work-around. It's called putting points into lock picking and not being a doofus and trying to force all the locks.

take the scrounger perk as soon as it's available, ignore the one that gives you more bottlecaps

you'll find a lot more ammo for (surprise) guns you are carrying, and the excess can be sold for bottlecaps

Yeah I have shit loads of ammo.

Here's the perks I took IIRC:
*Mister Sandman
*Mysterious Stranger
*The Epxerience One
*The extra point in that anagram skill thing
*The extra level up
And a bunch of others. Still waiting for Mysterious Stranger to work, heard it's awesome.

I done good with 3 dog, now to rivet city.

I have shit for ammo with no place to buy any. :'(

The closest place I can quick travel to is the Washington memorial, but outside that are a bunch of mutants which I pump more ammo in than I get out. :'(
I'll try again tomorrow. :-\

hit level 20.  everything is really easy to tear through so i kind of lack incentive to keep going with this character.

was thinking of starting over with a new one just to do the main quest.  have this one be my "explore everything" character

The fallout patch crashes for me and the windows live patch crashes for me too.

On the bright side, I hear this patch doesn't do such a good job of fixing things and shouldn't be downloaded.

Anyone know the route of the traders? How often do they come back to megaton? Where is the next nearest city with traders? I need ammo bad and bought pretty much all of it from megaton. Taking out mutants with the 10mm pistol isn't that much fun anymore. Sorry for the n00b questions. :-\

so from looking around, apparently crashing at startup has to do with some sort of codec error.  but every solution says to find something called ffdshow and change settings but i don't have that and i don't know what the hell it is.  apparently it's some sort of codec manager?  what about if i don't have a codec manager???  :'(

Just walk to Rivet City. It's the best option. It seems you're falling into the same thing that happened to me; no ammo and health except for Megaton during that shitty sewer climb. It's extremely frustrating.  Once I got to Rivet though, the game got a little better because it's closer and not full of BS.

Animal Friend lover level I and II are a great perk. A bunch of animals don't attack me, which makes traveling the wasteland easier (no yogi bears attack me) and some missions too where the building is filled with dogs and molerats and shit. Plus they attack non-animal friends too, the yogi bears are especially strong cause they always come in pairs.
