The only problem I'm aware of is that it's a Bethesda game.

Buying it, but saving until Christmas holidays.

I tried to play Oblivion THREE times.  Each time months apart where I'd pick up the game and play for 2-4 hours.  I tried really hard to find enjoyment in walking around boring areas and into boring caves that all look the same and fighting using boring simple combat, but not surprisingly it was boring everytime.

Not going to buy another game by these guys for full price.  Even if it has the delicious Fallout theme.

I played Oblivion for about 60 to 80 hours.  I enjoyed the game, but compared to the 150+ I probably played with Morrowind, it was just such a disappointment.

same thing happened to me.  3rd time I put in 60 hours +, but now I can't boot up the game without going into convulsions...I really don't feel like I've accomplished anything in the game in all that time, despite having done tons of exploration/quests.

might steal Fallout 3, but Fable 2 gets my precious game time for the rest of the semester.

IGN-

9.6 - 360/PC

9.4 - PS3 - freezes when friend messages pop up. has other glitches. is on the ps3.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/924/924165p1.html

Hate how IGN copy/pastes their reviews.  A little insight about what rig they ran the PC version on would be nice.  Instead you get a generic "Whoa brah you're gonna need one gnarly bodacious rig to run it with the best graphix dude."

"Also--and I'll surely talk around the specifics of what actually happens at the end of the game--it must be said that the presentation on the game's ending is a bit unfortunate. You may have heard the talk from the developers about how the game has "hundreds" of endings. But the ending is comprised of brief static images and some bits of voiceover that detail what you did over the course of the adventure, and it sort of poorly stitches these moments together to form a stilted, jerky look at a few of the key things you did over the course of the game. Also, I feel like I outsmarted the game's final moments only to have it force me down a specific, undesirable path via one of the most angering lines of dialogue in recent memory. I'd really like to say more about this, because it still has me pretty riled up, but as it's effectively the end of the game, it would be uncouth to talk in specifics."

uh oh...

Shadowing(lack of it) especially on outside objects and loading when entering(and inside) a building are only(for me) tech problems with the game, otherwise it works great(360).

You will be stuck with your choice for the rest of the game(you can get a point through some perk i think).

from 1up:

'Perks range from practical stuff such as Life Giver (+30 hit points) to oddly whimsical abilities. Mysterious Stranger, for example, occasionally summons a trenchcoated, .44 Magnum-armed dude who kills your target and disappears, spaghetti Western guitar riff resonating in his wake.'

that's pretty cool  8)

I could not get into Oblivion at all and the most fun I had with Morrowind on PC before that was cheating to get my stats up, then walking from town to town and systematically killing every NPC one by one with one punch.  So I don't know about Fallout 3.

But I like the setting better and having never played the original series, don't have the nostalgia of what sounds like a much better type of game holding me back.   Definitely looking forward to some impressions from you guys!

I'll probably get the steam version in the next couple of weeks.  I may try to beat STALKER first.
I'm not sure how convinced I am of the gameplay (though it does seem decent enough), but as a DC area resident, I need to get it just to check out the world.

Everything looks sheisty, not on par with Oblivion's polish, and i don't think i like the whole 50's nuke atmosphere.  The whole thing just looks...weird

Just played a few hours and this Oblivion with guns mantra is just ignorant.  In terms of gameplay and RPG elements this looks to be alot deeper.  It looks so deep and so not dumbed down that it doesn't even feel like a console RPG.

It runs great on my Dual Core 9800GT Setup with no slowdown that I've noticed so far, but I don't know exactly how many FPS. There are absolutely no jaggies. The facial animations are much improved over Oblivion, but nowhere near Crysis.

I really didn't mean you, swear :)   The mantra or whoever started it.  Yes it's an improved version of the Oblivion engine but so far it feels nothing like Oblivion.  So far the combat feels perfect and I'm really feeling that survialist theme.  I also love how repairs and hacking are handled.  As for healing I want to save my stimpaks but I wind up eating irradiated food which can cause problems so there is a trade off.

My character's 16 years old now and I'm about to take the G.O.A.T.s test. So far, the overall feel of the game and the presentation [and the RPG elements] seem like a big step up from Oblivion. Character animation is still kind of stiff, though. Variety in the dialogue options is welcome change.

Despite my better judgement, I bought the game.  For the 360 as well.

Best Buy had a bunch of lunch box editions too even though I just bought the standard version.  Eat shit Gamestop with your preorder BS.

Anyway, I'll open it up and start it once I finish Fable 2 or get sick of it.
