Did you not get the thing that said "The Lone Wanderer found the wastelands an inhospitable place...blah blah..."? That's the end, the only end there is. It changes a little if you're good or bad, and a few of the side-quests change what it shows.  If you're good and you freed the slaves, it shows a repaired Lincoln Memorial. If you didn't and you destroyed Megaton, then it shows a destroyed Megaton to symbolize your badness. That's pretty much all there is to it.

I thought it was a great ending:

The image of jefferson's statue as the machine hummed to life and you died, the code being tied to something at the beginning, and of course nothing is as cool as sacrificing yourself for the good of all. Hardcore!

i was level twelve, and hadn't even explored 2/3 of the wasteland

so i loaded an earlier save so i could explore with this good character for a while before wrapping it up

then i think i'll put it away for a month or so, and start over with a thoroughly corrupt character

I was level 20, but I probably would have been like 25 at least if you could keep leveling. I messed around for a long time before I even bothered doing any of the main quest.

Yeah, I have a problem with the level cap as well. Next time I play I am not going to waste any perks on experience bonuses. I levelled way too quick and I have hardly touched the main story.

You can start dumping points into energy weapons around level 15ish, which is when you'll start seeing things like laser rifles instead of pistols and maybe some plasma rifles if you come across enclave troops

whoa, the new nvidia driver gave me a ridiculous fps boost.  Literally from 25-30fps outside to a solid 60fps at medium settings.   :o

that kinda support is making me reconsider a radeon 7850.

Okay, one more question. If you tag a skill, does that just give it a one-time point boost, or can you level up that skill faster for the rest of the game?

one time, unfortunately

I just got to Megaton. I need caps, so I want to sell some of my plundered items. But this bitch Jenny Stahl only wants to give me half of the listed value of my items. Is there any place around where I can get a better deal?

 :lol
Up your barter skill. No one give you market value. It's a fake number IMO. The best way to make caps is to pick up the same stuff and repair them. It makes things worth more without the extra weight.

I hit level 20 last night. Depressing, considering how much of the actual game I have yet to go through. I already miss the little "cha-ching" sound from getting XP for hacking, killing, lockpicking etc. Whoever though 20 levels was enough for a game this size was crazy. I think half the fun I was having was from exploring and grinding my character, as opposed to doing quests. Damn XP ceiling.

Seems like I'm always out of ammo, and every battle ends up with me getting crippled, meaning I have to use one of my scarce stimpaks.

For some reason I'm not digging this one as much as I thought I would. At what point does it start to get really awesome?

There isn't really a point where it suddenly becomes awesome.  You have to really get into exploring and loot hunting, especially at the beginning of the game before you've discovered locations.  Pick up missions, find weapons, level up, always explore more, and search buildings.

Personally the fun of the game is not doing that.  Give them weapons.  Though I have to admit I reloaded, which I rarely do, because one wandered off and got killed by a super mutant.

If you do either it will get you bad karma.  apparently you're supposed to be diplomatic and convince Tenpenny to let them stay or some shit.  I killed Tenpenny and am fucked on that mission.
