Will buy the DLC.

And I still can't get these songs out of my head.  I was just walking from one of my classes and suddenly started thinking "Don't know why I left the homestead, I really must confess"

Looks like Bethesda has learned a thing or two since Oblivion. I'll definitely be picking up all three of those DLC next year.

Also, it's good to hear that an official Fallout 3 editor is on its way.

double dipping on pc for this

also, while the official dlc sounds cool, i would like to see some dlc that ignores the main quest altogether and allows you to make a separate character (starting off in tenpenny/megaton/enclave/raider/etc), with lots of added one-off quests (say about a dozen the size of the Big Town quest) plus new armor/perks/weapons, that you could just explore the wasteland with.  Altogether around the size of Shivering Isles, maybe.

The game won't let you kill kids. Ever. Otherwise I would have ripped those uppity brats in Little Lamplight a new one.

You can do the Mister Sandman kill on children, or at least one in Andale. It doesnt kill them, but you still get the EXP. It is a glitch.

Mirelurks are hard to kill.

Although I've messaged everyone I know after I killed one.

Because, you know, I killed a Giant Enemy Crab on the PS3 by attacking the weakpoint for MASSIVE DAMAGE. (the face)

Turn off Autosave!

Just go sleep in a bed, get your health back, then go kick that robot's ass. There's a great bed you can use in Grayditch. I'm not sure if you have to complete the "Those!" quest to use it, but I don't think so.

Also, you should definitely use VATS. Without VATS, what you would have is basic FPS combat with horrible, horrible, horrible hit detection and enemies that can strafe at cheetah-sprint speed. And seriously, this game has the worst hit detection I've seen in first person combat.

@ Borys: why the fuck would anyone want to level more slowly?

@ whoever: what is so special about Deathclaws? I killed the first one that was terrorizing a bunch of wastelanders (then I killed the wastelanders), and it went down pretty easily. Mirelurk Hunters are way tougher, IMO.

I keep autosave on as a backup to my normal saves. After encountering a glitch or two, it never hurts to have one more that might be more recent.

As for the leveling, I can only assume it's due to how fast you can cap out your player if you're more of an explorer-type player. If you encounter a group of super mutants fighting some raiders and wipe them all out, you can level up pretty quickly. I hit level 20 before I had really scratched the surface of the main quest. Takes a bit of fun out of playing once you do.

And mirelurks are pretty easy (comparatively) if you get a couple of rounds into their exposed faces.

Yeah, mirelurks get easier... if you have a chinese assault rifle or something more powerful than that to plug away at their faces.

I just found the scoped magnum last night in the Arlington Library. That works as a good substitute. Plus, of course, critical hit headshots basically blow the head off of enemies, which is awesome.

I highly recommend the book "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy to anyone who is really into the setting of this game.  If Fallout 3 had a huge escort mission, it would probably be a lot like this book.  of course, thankfully it doesn't have one of those  ;)

sounds familiar.  was it written in the 1960s?  Some prof told me about a cool post-apocalyptic book like that a couple years ago...

edit: nm, looks like that's a different book.  the one I was told about wasn't necessarily sci-fi...more like normal fiction like "The Road." Eternity Road sounds cool.

deathclaws scale up with you, at least i think so

at level twenty, wearing tesla armor, they were taking huge chunks out of my ass with one swipe, and it took several missiles to down one

also, go to old olney and see if you still think they're pushovers

once you hit higher levels mirelurks are easy, you don't even have to aim for their face

i found giant radscorpions to be more of a pain in the ass than any other enemy - not because they were hard to kill or anything, but at higher levels those goddamned things are everywhere, and they come at you in pairs, and if you're not paying attention they come up behind you and commence lighting your ass up a few times before you can turn around

Your choice. You get a lot of good loot, a penthouse suite, and an awesome scene when it explodes.  Just make sure to massacre the town first and loot everything.  Don't kill Moira for a funny scene when you go back to the site.
