I started focusing more on small guns and its perks and the difference in combat is noticeable.

Can you ever add more points to your special stats? I only have 4 strength and I want 5 for that strongback skill :s

there's a perk that bumps you up by one point in whatever you choose

and i think there are one or two items you can find that do the same thing, although i might be mistaken

like Eel mentioned, there's that perk.  and iirc, bobbleheads also add 1 to a special stat, though there aren't many of them in the game.

Just get a house in either Megaton or Tenpenny Tower and stash your stuff there.

Man is there a place I can rest in Megaton without paying 120 caps? Because it took me quite a few trips to earn barely 480 caps and I can't afford this.

The lack of ammunition, health packs, and everything being contaminated with radiation really make this game even better.

Could very well tie with Persona 4 as goty for me.

Oh. I don't have high enough explosion stat to disarm the bomb yet.

Some adventures I had tonight: Met a dude in the bar in Megaton
spoiler (click to show/hide)
he brings up that he will pay you to blow up Megaton using the bomb. I went to tell the sheriff, we went out to the bar to get this guy and when the arrest was made, dude pulls out a gun and shoots the sherrif before I could kill him. I was thinking that's what happens during the scenario, but now...I'm not sure.

What happen to you guys during that scenario?

I've been doing things for that chick's book, I've got one final task: go to a mine field.

I tried searching for that chick's hometown, who's family doesn't write her back anymore, and I can't find the place. Apparently it's on top of some overpass but I can't find a way to get there. I know how to get UNDER the overpass, but on top?

that's why Burke tells you to go see that junkie.  mentats will put you over the necessarily amount of skill point.

same thing, unless you're quick on the draw...

Dunno what you're talking about here.

Burke gives you an optional side objective to meet a guy that will sell you mentats.  You don't need to do it, really -- you can find mentats just about anywhere, but if you have some, using them will give you enough explosive skill to blow up or disarm the bomb.

Karma doesn't seem to drop that fast, as far as pickpocketing and stealing goes. I've pickpocketed twice and stole a bunch of things and I'm still a martyr.

Combat in this game is amazingly good, I just need to find out if there's a way to stop the whole "slow down" deathkill shit.

I have no idea wtf to do in this game... how do I disarm the bomb? I have to go to the radio station or something now to look for my dad... and I have another quest to do where I have to give the girl a letter to her family. Should I concentrate on raising my karma, or does it matter? And do melee weapons work OK, I've been using a baseball bat for now.

To disarm the bomb just walk up to it and hit A, and it'll tell you whether your stats are high enough to mess with it. If they're too low you can boost them with mentats, or just come back when they're higher. I wouldn't even worry about doing the main quest (looking for your dad) right away. I spent over 15 hours out in the wastelands before going into D.C. which is where you need to go for that. Don't worry about your karma. You'll get plenty of chances to raise or lower your karma doing quests, depending on whether you want to play a good or bad character. Even if you're playing a good character, you can kill people, and steal a bunch of stuff, and still boost your karma back up easily by taking the "good" path on quests.

Yeah I beat the following quests before going to the Radio tower:

Those! Blood Ties, Wasteland Survival Guide, the Declaration of Independence one, and the Android one.  Clocked in at about 12-15 hours, I think, before I went to see Three-Dog.

I made it through the Farragaut station and up to Chevy Chase (I like how the game takes place in a city I've actually visited, so the names are familiar to me a bit), to the front of the radio station, and I died whilst fighting the giant mutant, wasn't able to damage him with an assault rifle.

So you're supposed to just go around and doing subquests? Does grinding help in this game? I'm only on level 3 so far.

Game isn't bad so far, a bit too overwhelming for me though I think as of now.

Dude just relax. The game is nowhere near as expansive  or overwhelming as Oblivion with its faction quests. Just do the story missions. The only quests in the game are the achievements, that's it. They're just pretty lengthy. Grinding wont really help as much as better guns/more health kits will. You max out at Level 20 anyway (cant go higher).

Started my second runthrough - The Adventures of Veronica, Wasteland Bon Vivant - this evening.   Just glassed-over Megaton.  I found it hard to be evil at first, but by committing what is essentially the most evil act in the game straight away, every other amoral decision will be cake.  Cannibalism, here I come!

I'm level 8 and there's TONS of Super Mutants in the Washington Monument/Capitol Hill area. FUCK.

I've tried doing the sidequest Those! and those fire ants are ridiculous.

I'm working on the Wasteland Survival Guide for Moira, I wanna finish it up soon.

I finished Blood Ties, which I loved.

I'm seriously lacking ammo now so I should concentating on restocking and getting more caps before I continue the story.

Hunting rifles are good for ants. If you only have a 10mm pistol, it's probably going to end badly.

Your best bet early in the game is to sell pretty much ANYTHING.  Pick up as much as you can carry and sell it, regardless of how much they're worth.  That way you will:

a) get caps
b) pick up ammo along the way

Just be an avid searcher.
