Wait you went to Rivet City before the Radio Station? Haha, you fucked up. That's a sequence breaker... you cant do the Following In His Footsteps quest anymore.

wait...so now i can never find my dad?

No you can. I'm saying you wont get credit for doing "Following In His Footsteps" and "Galaxy News Radio" - the quests between arriving at the radio station -> Rivet City

I'm in the same boat, but I have an old save somewhere in the 60 or so saves that I can just go back to and get the achievements.

Game is totally consuming my post holiday gaming, I've got like 10 other games for my 360 and other than some light Pinata gardening and zombie killing in Dead Rising for a change of pace, it's been all Fallout 3, all the time.  Game rules.

how do I get to the radio station?  I'm already at rivet city and it says I've finished the fallowing his foots steps quest even though i haven't gotten there yet  :'(

Use the automap...

Wait you went to Rivet City before the Radio Station? Haha, you fucked up. That's a sequence breaker... you cant do the Following In His Footsteps quest anymore.

iirc, after breaking the sequence, you can go to GNR and talk to Three Dog and still get the achievement for Following In His Footsteps even though the quest is no longer in the list, and do the Galaxy News Radio quest out of sequence.

yeah that worked for mw, I visited Rivet City then the Radio Station, got the following in his footsteps achievement

Just finished the "Those!" sidequest (and the Grady's storage side-sidequest) so I think I'm moving on to Rivet City finally. At level 8 right now.

I am pretty much out of ammo however and the store at Megaton doesn't really have any shells. Fucking ants :-\

yeah Im working towards that too. Just picked up the extra 20% from stimpacks perk and it's totally sweet. The repair skill is awesome, you can pick up several damaged weapons and slap them into one decent one and sell the bad boy for heaps of caps without taking up heaps of inventory space

yeah repair is brilliant.

that perk is ok, but if you're going to level up your medicine it's pretty pointless later on imo.

Whatever, I keep every single one of my favorite weapons (hunting rifle, Chinese assault rifle, combat shotgun) that I find so I can use them for repair.  Not on me obviously, but I stow 'em in the lockers at my house in Megaton.

There are parts of DC that are only accessable via the metro tunnels.  To get to GNR, you're gonna want to start in Friendship Heights.

Friendship Heights is around the northern most part of the city limits; there, you want to take the metro south to Chevy Chase.

One time I saw a giant super mutant (I guess it was a behemoth?) out in the western part of the map.  It killed me so I reloaded my quicksave... and it didn't spawn again.  I wanted to try to kill it :(

I guess the enemy spawning is very random in the wastes?

I think I fucked up the Replicated Man quest.   :-\

I got to Rivet City and picked up the quest, but I was there to investigate the history for Moira.  I wasn't really paying attention to the new quest I picked up, but I found a couple of clues in Rivet City and then this woman gives me an android component to give to Zimmer.  I keep doing the Moira quest and it brings me to Pinkerton.  Not really paying attention, I asked if he did the surgery and memory wipe and despite the fact that I had like a 70% speech chance he said no, he didn't but if such a thing was done he would be the only one who could have done it.

Then it prompted me to keep looking for clues or give Zimmer the component to end the quest, so I think I screwed up.  I checked the Fallout 3 wikia page and it said there should be clues with Moira, the Megaton Doc etc but I can't seem to find them.  I think the only way I can finish the quest now is to give Zimmer the component and tell him the android is dead, but that would man that I don't get the plasma rifle.   :-\

Keep asking around, someone should tell you about Pinkerton. If they don't, just go find him on your own, that'll probably still move the quest along. He's in the front of the ship that's broken off from Rivet City. You either have to have 100 Lockpick to pick the door, or swim down underneath and enter from the bottom. He'll tell you about the Android.

he's found pinkerton already.

Try hacking pinkertons pc, he keeps the android files one there that you need for the quest anyways.

I don't know suddenly raiders are coming in packs of like 7 and with missile launchers.  I use to take care of raiders like they were nothing!  now they're kicking my ass.  I also wondered into a place i'm  not sure I should be fort bannister?

As I recall, Fort Bannister did have a fair number of raiders floating around, yes. I made the mistake of fast-travelling there recently and got pummeled by the respawned raiders I was surrounded by, and as you said, with missile launchers.

I was confused- I just chose the wrong option the first time I talked to Pinkerton, because the right option sounded like I was threatening him and I didn't want to provoke him into a fight.   :-\  Anyway, done with that quest and on to finishing up Reilly's Rangers now.  Almost level 13!  I've discovered that I have a bad habit of switching to an armor that gives an extra 5% to repair or lockpick or whatever to perform a task and leave it on, then wonder why I'm losing health so quickly once a fight starts back up.   :duh

You need multiples of the same item or very similar items (Talon Combat Armor repairs Combat Armor, for instance).  Skill determines how much of the item you can repair i.e. if your skill is very low, you won't be able to repair a lightly damaged weapon.  Whichever item you use to repair is destroyed forever, so make sure you're not repairing your shitty normal items with unique items.

Jesus Arvie, my copy didn't come with an instruction book and I f'n figured it out.

You have to have TWO of a particular item to repair ONE.  You cannibalize parts from one to put on the other.  In your item screen, if you can repair an item it will have the "Y" button highlighted and you press that.  Once you get to the repair screen it will let you know if your skill is high enough.  Note:  the button presses are contingent on using the 360 version.

to repeat, most "special" weapons you earn/steal/pick off corpses can be repaired by their normal counterparts - the special pulse rifle you'll get from a certain character can be repaired by regular pulse rifles, special sniper rifles can be repaired with normal ones, etc.

Repairing stuff is the best way to make caps.
If possible, I always tried to have 2 of each weapon. 1 to use and keep in top form and use, and 1 to fix up to sell. Same with badlands armor. You can repair all badlands armor with any other as long as it has badlands in the name and sell it for a decent dime.
When selling your stuff, note how many caps the person has. Usually you can sell some stuff to take most of their caps, then buy stimpacks or whatever to give them caps back so you can sell them more stuff.
