Playing through SO4 has got me to the point where I'm about to give up on JRPGs entirely. There's just no excuse for a lot of things that it seems like every single JRPG does now. The cutscenes that drag on forever, the ridiculously stupid clothes, the complete lack of choice, the mind-numbing characters, the overly-dramatic and utterly saccharine dialog, the shoddy graphics, the janky controls, and on and on. Well, I say JRPGs, but I'm probably more referring to tri-Ace JRPGs. They went downhill hard and fast and I don't see them ever recovering. Lost Odyssey was pretty good, for the few hours that I played it, and seemed to avoid at least
some of these problems.
If FXIII doesn't deliver, I may not buy another JRPG again unless it's a port of 16/32-bit game.
