I agree the first half of Recovery is better than the second, although the second half does have Almost Famous which is great. But basically half the album is good, the other half is average. Initially I was wondering if the album would be full of the type of staggering, awkward flow displayed on Not Afraid and his Airplanes verse. Thankfully it only shows up a few times on the album, most prominently on Seduction and Not Afraid, both of which suck. The only tracks that really impressed me were Space Bound and Almost Famous, although Taking 2 Myself is nice too even with an ehh chorus. Seems like the album is full of questionable choruses though, and some tell him to stop singing.
Production is alright, not as good as I was expecting. I can't take No Love seriously and the drums are meh, kinda disappointed Just Blaze did this; Wayne actually drops a good verse though.
Overall it's a 3/5 album to me. I guess a welcome return given how shitty his last two albums were (good to hear even him admit it). But it seems like the witty Eminem who could rap circles around anyone is gone.
