I haven't played that in a while actually, saw the big update downloading the other day and was going to check in, your post is a good reminder. Have people been getting any better at the objectives since the first betas?

Speaking of nades and Titanfall, the magnetic ones amuse me especially when you're throwing a bunch of them or using the launcher for them. I've seen a lot of dudes freak out and try to run away in their Titan when I'm throwing them in the general direction (or even better shooting them down from the respawn-plane) and they don't know wtf is going on other than alarms. (I think they attach, alert and then blow up when they hit Titans.) Even better is when they latch onto like 15 Suicide Spectre's and just blow them all up. And even better is when that happens right as they land in their drop capsule next to like 30 other AI drones. And my screen fills with text and numbers indicating high levels of approval from the game.

Got home and immediately fell to, playing all my previous crap (Defiance, World of Tanks) and also fired up some Rock Band Blitz and Assassin's Creed: Liberation.

AC:L feels REALLY stagnant to me right now. Maybe it's just that the feeling of the world is too much like every other AC, or that the Tutorial will display all the time, turning every combat into a read-along Quick Time Event with very little sense of danger, or maybe it's that I fail missions because I've done something the system doesn't expect. It's frustrating; I really wanted to like this game.

Still, it's nice to run around killing guards as Alicia Keys.

Yeah, it's the jank.
Quote
Developers: Ubisoft, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Sofia, Ubisoft Milan

I recall being just fine with stuff out of Montreal before, but don't think I've seen anything out of Sofia or Milan previously. Montreal may have been on the multiplayer stuff? I'm talking out of my buttocks here...

But, yeah: jank. Evaline seems to skitter and pop when running and climbing, and will leap to weird shit I didn't input controls for; I was encouraged to do a Leap of Faith from a synchronization point which literally caused her to fall to her death -- this is the extreme version of blowing that high school Trust Game -- so now I'm double-paranoid about actually making those Leaps.

My current mission is a follow-the-trail one, and the trail runs out at a marker which can't be collected. This is beginning to piss me off.

It depends on the map, really. The three oldest; Chapel, Terminal and Trainyard are figured out, but people still have trouble grasping the importance of the generator(s) on Bridge and Underground. I often see people racing to the one on Bridge once it becomes availabe, but sometimes it goes ignored entirely until it's too late. It's an easily defendable room and the match can be decided there, but no...

Player levels seem to be a good indicator of basic competency though. Anyone double digit can be assumed to know what to do and to keep pace. Whether the stars align or not is another matter. Some people will always get counterkilling tunnelvision and race to the nearest killbox to show the enemy what's what WW1 style, get trapped defending the spawn when they should be attacking, go really agressive as the squishiest class when they should be looking for teammates to revive, forget that it's their job to drop ammo, get caught in cheating arguments and subsequently type more words than they shoot bullets, etc., but I feel it's no worse than other objective centred games.
Ranked should help educate people, or at least clearly mark the chafff, but it has yet to actually function, despite being apparently live. I still can't find a game after they lowered the minimum level to 5 and I'm not about to wait 15 minutes for it. :goty2

One thing I also love about Titanfall, is they added more titan voice options so being the  :-* I am, I've got certain titan loadouts with certain voices. My quick strider loadouts use the japanese os, my big ogre loadout uses the russian os and the medium size atlas uses either the sexy british voice or the german one.

:lawd

I've also been plugging into CoD:AW again. I just can't quit CoD brehs. That little +100 that pops up when you get akill is like a hit of the purest white. That off the boat shit you *have* to cut up but deads your face the instant its up your nose.

 :aah :noah

Going between thse two so weird though because even with giant robots Titanfall is such a fast fucking game.

Spent most of the free time I had over the weekend playing Senran Kagura Estival Versus.  I finished the story mode pretty quickly after the game came out at the end of March, then took a break from it until the DLC started coming out.  Two characters got released for free last week so I'm back on the game.  Playing the individual character stories on the hardest difficulty setting...it can be pretty tough.  You get pretty aggressive musou-style mobs coming right up to you and wrecking you in just a few hits.  Add in archers/gunners who stand back and blast you, particularly with bullets that freeze you in place, and you'll be seeing lots of game over screens in seconds.  I had to rush in and get air combos started to win a lot of fights...once you get a combo going, you can juggle the hell out of a lot of enemies and hopefully level up (refills your lifebar and maxes out the special move scrolls you can use) to take on the next mob or boss(es).  Also have been playing on some stages and seeing some items that weren't in the story mode.  They re-used the same stages in story mode A LOT so I don't understand why they intentionally left out stages like this.  Hope to finish this soon (although more DLC is coming) so I can move onto One Piece Kaizoku Musou 3 already.

After getting my pervo-beat-em-up-perv on, I attempted to play ULTRA Street Fighter IV on PS4 and Splatoon at various times of the day/night.  Connection problems galore made both games feel like a chore to play.  They need to get this shit fixed, stat.

So i wrapped up exactly as much of it as I'll ever wrap up today, and deleted it.

There was a race that I did maybe 10 times to complete it, each failure due to some weird control input interpretation (jump around the inside of a veranda, never connecting with the checkpoint? SURE! We can do that!), visual language (checkpoint placement), or enemy logic inconsistency (Why is this guard shooting me after I smokebombed him?). Bad design, failing to accommodate flaws.

Later, while trying to balance the goofy-assed cargo Trading mini-game with actual progress in the game, I finally learned that Owned Shops will give the Trade Interface, but competitors' shops will not. So I bought a shop and used it, but a graphic glitch showing doubled-up windows and overlapping doors revealed the flag had not been set properly, and there was no Trade Interface.

There are also several classes of collectibles which do not show up unless I'm right next to them on the mini-map, even if I've Synchronized.

So, yeah, done-done-done. Deleted.

When I played EVE years ago I spent like 60 hours buying and selling ore and ships in the high-sec zones. I didn't even really finish the tutorial missions. Finally I raised enough isk to buy a battleship. Bought it and then went back in to the tutorial. The very next mission gave me the exact same battleship to use (was really pissed). Then I ended up failing the tutorial, lost the ship. Then lost the one I bought. Got super angry and stopped playing forever.

One day I want to go back and try again.

I'm not too far (only finished the first 4 chapters) but I'm really liking Type-0. Sure, the scope is a fair amount limited due to it being a PSP game (every town looks exactly the same, small and boxy environments on the missions), but combat is fun as hell. I love the variety of characters and their move sets. The pacing is also pretty nice, its easily served in bite-sized chunks which makes playing a lot more convenient during my really limited free time.

Wow, just wow. I knew Blizzard didn't know what they were doing, but this is ridiculous. A big feature of Warlords of Draenor is Garrisons. It's not that it isn't fun (it's surprisingly fun), it's just incredibly inappropriate. It makes WoW feel like a singleplayer game more than ever. :lol People tried to argue it's not such a big deal because people before would AFK in cities, not they AFK in their garrisons. But it is a pretty big deal. Even if players are AFK in cities, at least you know those players are there. At least you can see how busy the server is at the time. Now you don't see players at all, only NPCs. Absolutely insane.

It's really not that fun once you've been at it for a few days. It lifts the veil on "chore simulator" pretty hastily.

Technically, they're edible.

Went back to Saints' Row IV and could not remember most of the controls to save my life. Fortunately, jumping works like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and gliding works kinda like inFamous, if I am recalling it correctly. Finally found the weapon wheel, which I'd forgotten isn't on any of the shoulder buttons.

TRIED to play GTA Online PS4 with friends in the USA, and instead spent 3.5 hrs troubleshooting my own connection. Rockstar claims there are no asset differences preventing me playing, but the error is consistently "Unable to join session due to incompatible assets." So far I've deleted and reinstalled the game three times (their only suggestion), deleted a character to clear space for a new character JUST so I can restart Online and clear the tutorial, which is a condition for joining some Friends, according to menu help text.

Anyway, it sucks to have double-dipped on this and still not be able to play as easily as on last-gen hardware.

Beat Saints Row 4 and Forza 5.

I had started both of these a while ago but never actually played them seriously (just messed around in SR4 and did  free play races In Forza).

SR4 was great fun and much better than 3. Forza 5 gave me some problems, because I never really felt comfortable with the game. You have all these difficulty options but I never really found the right combination. The game was either too easy or too hard/realistic. 60fps and large selection of cars still made it great though.

Beat Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on Expert difficulty. Average rating across all missions is 75%.

Favorite mission? Breaking into the Bank and infiltrating a dude's apartment in New York. Bank robbery mission feels badass, good guard placement, have just enough gadgets to ace the mission if you're smart. The New York mission is paced really well.

Least favorite mission? Tokyo Bathhouse. Being forced into confrontations when the AI can kill you in a second or two isn't fun and requires save scumming just to survive, the AI also sees you in the dark much faster in the second half of the game, making you feel less like a badass and more like a fumbling crook.

Fantastic game with some fucked difficulty hikes. I think I like Blacklist more though.

Nah, I dont think it really gets any better. The episodes were dreadfully short. Especially Claire's EP4. You literally go up a tower... then down a tower. The end.

The struggle was annoying with its literal save deletion if you die. And the stupid as shit stealth section.

Little Miss was the same, a shoddy stealth level with shoddy detection.

Countdown Mode was fun, since they simply give you a set amount of equipment and you work with that. Invisible Mode was interesting, but also annoying. Then there's those stupid invisible fucking one hit kill bugs.

Kind of a waste of use on Barry Burton.

Elder Scrolls Online is not immersive with the amount of lag going on. Dudes blipping out of existence. It's packed with people tho.

I like that there doesn't appear to be private instances (like Neverwinter and such). You go in a dungeon and theres tons of fools doing what you're doing. It adds to the MMO feeling.

cool I'll pick it up soon. fuck I'm so hyped over this silly series.

I forgot that I did everything in the original back in the day, but it's easy to see why. despite its shortcomings there's a lot of stuff to do, tons and tons of secrets and challenges, and the battle system is surprisingly solid. I mean it's not dmc or whatever but you have correctly learn how to dodge and parry to get anywhere on hard mode. you can even do a level one challenge, which is pretty cool. it's a great arpg, and better than i gave it credit for.

Finished Saints Row IV tonight, with 87% completion. I've 1000'd SRTT and got all the single player and co-op Achievements from SR2, but I am not feeling like even tangling with much of the collect-a-thon items from IV.

(checks TA.com) Oh, actually looks like there's a collectible finder in the Map that I've never used. I might come back to this, or I might knock it out.

The last fight in the game, though; whew. Kind of a stinker. I didn't enjoy it at all, as I could never seem to get the telekinetic throw timing down for the CIDs, and they just kept exploding on me. I'm sure I was doing something incorrectly, but the final mission included the only two times I had not felt completely competent and powerful in the game. The other was the tunnel-flying sequence, where the camera behaved differently than any other flying instance.

Probably going to fire up Batman: Arkham Origins next. Or maybe finish Hydrophobia so I can delete it.

Dream Drop Distance is trash of the highest order. I hope whatever fucker at SE decided that locking character progression behind raising Pokemon rejects was a good idea has long since been ejected from the company. I wanted to play KH, not Pokemon.

Re:Coded's story is pure rehash, but the actual gameplay is great. Mix of TWEWY customization and FFX's Sphere Grid where you can customize Sora in lots of different ways, plus the only game that makes every keyblade unique and viable to use along the while game. The worst game in the series to have gotten the "HD cutscenes!!" treatment from the HD collections, since the game play was all it had going for it.

It does when you're forced to raise/craft shitty pokemon in order to actually learn new abilities or use different Link attacks. How does that not have bearing on gameplay?

I got Killer is Dead on 360 for like 7 bucks. It's a Suda game. On mission 5 or 6 of 12 after spending like an afternoon on it. His work is the definition of shit you buy on the cheap and enjoy for a few days/week.

I was 20c short when it was 3,99€ on the Steam Sale. I steadfastly refuse to put more money into my account until my backlog is cleared out so I have to hope for it to come around again at the end. Card sales have boosted my budget to 4,09€, so I'm ready. :win

Shit yeah.
Had some good moments already. Popped the dome on the last enemy right as he tagged me with the Torque.
Just so narrow a victory.

Nice to play Gears again, it does have its own unique style that sets it apart from other shooters. Gears 1 especially.

Fired up Batman: Arkham Origins; I can see, if players liked Asylum better than City, why they would still not like this. It's based on the more open Arkham City gameplay model, and starts players off with, well, apparently everything. It is "more of the same," which is fine with me...!

On the other hand, compared to Arkham City:
- the writing feels subjectively better
- ancillary gameplay objectives are better integrated with the writing
- skill tree is better depicted in UI, more easily understood
- game is super gorgeous, particularly in its crossfades and in-game computer interface design

Kick. Ass.

Oh, also got the Bethesda iOS offering, Fallout Shelter: Overbred my first Vault, started a second vault, and game consistently crashes now, so I'm done.
