I certainly don't have the patience to try Pillars like that, but it's certainly an interesting route that makes the loot aspect of the game so much more appealing / important.

Druids are so so good in that game. I'm not sure what the best class for the PC would be in that case, but Druid has to be up there.

Getting into the meat of Persona 5 after a dozen hours or so, game is very good and is going to be very long.  I'll be surprised if this isn't longer than P3 & P4 going back how long the first couple of dungeons take.  For a Persona game, the improvements are huge from P3/P4, so many improvements which were needed since P4 was 2008 and videogames have come a long way in certain aspects since then.  But it's still Persona, and I think I've lost interest a bit in Persona gameplay after all these years.  I'd still rate the game a 9.5/10 so far, and it's really good, but I think I might have enjoyed SMT4-2 first 15 hours more in terms of pure fun.  I don't care if it ends up on the NX, I just hope we get an SMT5 with these cell-shaded detailed demon models in the next 4 years.

Yeah, Persona 5 is pretty much the real deal.  I'll be surprised if this doesn't get 10s across the board when the US release comes out assuming the voice acting/localization is good.  Game definitely lives up to expectations as a Persona sequel.  I kinda hate to say it because I'm not a big persona fan (give me any of the other megaten franchises any day), but it'll probably end up being the best game I play this year.

It's interesting playing this side by side with Tokyo Xanadu which is Falcom's take on Persona x Cold Steel.  They both actually feel completely different and are doing very different things.  Tokyo Xanadu is a narrative focused Trails game where it's all about doing bracer quests in Tokyo and watching Bond events and watching the story play out.  Otoh, Persona is all about the Tokimeki Memorial 2016 -experience high school life- sim.  Sure there's story and there's some dungeon stuff, but the bulk of the game is just wandering out Tokyo working jobs, watching dvds, reading books, taking baths, eating gyudon, and hanging with a bunch of weird people.  They're both good, but really different styles.  Which is good since I can play both at the same time without getting burned out.

Beat Final Fantasy Legend 3 and World of Illusion. WOW, was World of Illusion SHORT, and simple... took me about a half hour to beat. Was an OK game but I was a bit disappointed with the difficulty level. Castle of Illusion, its prequel, was a lot more challenging with more interesting level design.

Also played more Mega Man Legends 2, made it to the final boss but I wanted to wrap up some side missions first. Namely, getting my S-rank Diggers license. But that seems to be a bit of a pain in the ass, you have 5 min to make it through a mini dungeon with shitty weapons, so that's tricky.

I made it really far into Kirby and the Rainbow Curse last year, but getting gold medals on a few stages eluded me. Like most Kirby games, its simple just to beat but when it comes to 100%ing, it's pretty damn tough! So I'm gonna pick that up again.

Continuing along with Adventures of Mana too, it's not a bad remake of FF Adventure/Seiken Densetsu 1, and certainly much better than Sword of Mana, even if the graphic style is mobage garbage. Game improved for me when I found out you can revert to the original chiptune soundtrack. Chiptunes >>> faux orchestral any day of the week for me.

And finally played a ton of Project Diva X. Trying to beat all the stages on "Hard" now, and even that's not too bad for someone like me who sucks at rhythm games.

So before jumping into DQ7 and Suikoden 5, I want to beat Adventures of Mana, MML2, PDX, and Kirby.

This weekend I went shaft deep into Freedom Wars on Vita. This game is pretty fuckin cheap (was $5 at gamestop - might still be) - and they put it on PS+ sometime ago.

This game is similar to "Soul Sacrifice" in that you follow a storyline, and the gameplay is basically you and some people (AI or real people) jump in an arena and complete a task (escort citizens, defeat big weird monsters). You can play by yourself with AI people, or create a room and wait for people to join up and just start a mission up. You can actually do the final boss with people online, and when you finish it gives you a ticket that you can redeem to skip the entire fight offline and instantly win -- which is what I did, of course.

Once you finish the story, theres a bit of a post-game, but once thats complete theres nothing really to do beyond going for the platinum and grinding materials for equipment.

I dont think its as good as Soul Sacrifice, and I was offput by it early on, but once I fixed the controls and started upgrading stuff it got marginally more enjoyable. Need to look into "God Eater" -- it seems similar to both. I just can't get into Monster Hunter, these games feel so different from them.

getting the s license in mml2 gets you a new dungeon, but it also makes the final boss absolutely balls out hard. never tried beating the game on hard mode bc it'd prolly be a nightmare.

Playing a heavily modded version of Oblivion at the moment. I started off modding Morrowind and trying to play that for the first time, but honestly I just couldn't get into the game. The gameplay systems and design are a bit too old school for my tastes nowadays.

iOS version is best version if you have the means of checking it out. Although it features shit touchscreen dpad, controls are actually decent for the game style. It's a big upgrade from DS and a better port than PSP.

you know I'd laugh at you for suggesting that the game with no buttons is somehow better than the with buttons, but the DS has some pretty shitty ass buttons and ergonomics

but I don't have an iPhone

think I'll just replay the DS version :yeshrug

Although the no button whining is played out bad, touchscreen controls can still be shit so I get that. However on iOS the game's resolution is larger than a postage stamp so that's a pretty big advantage for me, lol.

Man, Doom is fucking good.  Did the first Hell section last night.  Was a lot of fun!
I am a little concerned that at some point game is gonna get really tough.  The new enemy types like Barons of Hell are fucking monsters when there's 2 or more at a time combined with other enemies.  My best strategy is if there's a quad-damage powerup somewhere in the arena, to lure all the big monsters out and together and then grab it and chaingun strafe the group as a whole.

75% on Watch_Dogs now. I've just got the police scans and chases Trophies and the story ones to go. I've killed the side content dedder than ded_sec, top to bottom, anything leading to that Platinum Trophy is done. I was super happy that the "buy all skills" Trophy unlocked without the Notoriety skills, which are awarded for online multiplayer. The multi is okay, and people are surprisingly still playing it, but I don't want to grind with randos.

Man, that drinking game is out of place garbage. I powered through lvl10 on all of them today.

I tried to figure out why Persona feels way too easy compared to SMT.  I really like P5, but the only kinda boring part is the dungeon crawling because it's like walk 20 feet -> back attack enemy -> get first attack and kill normal enemies in first turn, battle over screen -> walk 20 feet, repeat cycle which is a bit boring and way too easy.  Almost never get hit at all outside of boss fights.

I figured it out, see Persona is kinda easy mode in that your MC can change persona without losing his turn, because that way, no matter the enemy, MC first turn just changes to persona that hits weak points and you're good.  In SMT you have to pre-pick you other 3 demons before battle starts and if you want to change 1 demon out on the MC's turn, you lose the MC's turn.  Also the lack of easy back attacks giving your entire party an attack before the enemies can do anything in SMT makes it a lot more challenging.

Finally got around to trying out Sunless Sea.  I really like it as a rogue/table-top lovecraft hybrid.  But the game is slow.  Like I get that part of it is buying faster engines to make the ship go faster, but even an hour or so in after getting the engine upgrade that goes from 80% to 100%, it's still a very slow roguelike.  Like if the game was 4x faster or if there was a game speed modifier in game, I would play the shit out of this game and easily put 15-20 hours in.  But right now I dunno if I can stick with it.  I did google to see if there were any mods and I found a 3x game speed mod that I'm gonna try out.  That might be enough to get me to really have fun with this game, but I think stock the game should've had a game speed modifier to speed up the sailing around.  Everything else is a lot of fun.

Ok, tried a 3x mod and at first I couldn't even tell the difference.  Only when I ran into combat and it was super fast did I notice it.  Yeah, I can't play this game, it's just too slow sailing from one place to another.  What the game needs is a speed modifier button (like a lot of sims) that goes up to like 5-10x so that while sailing I can hit it at 10x and then everytime I find something cool or there's combat I can drop it back down to 2x.  If they did that I would play this a ton, and I like it, but I just don't have the patience, so I'm done.  Part of it too, is that the early grind every new captain is like 30-60 mins of the same slow stuff.

A while back I played through the majority of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, but hit a brick wall towards the end trying to get gold medals in every stage. But I picked it up again recently, and did that, then beat the game. It's a really fun game if you liked Canvas Curse on DS, and the claymation aesthetic is incredible.

I picked up GTA5 for PC. Spent a bunch of time just dicking around. Still surprising how good that game looks.

Also played a little of HackMud which is a text based "hacking" story oriented game. It initially gave off the impression it was going to be like HackNet but after about 30 minutes I realized I wasn't really having any fun. It was really tedious and not very interesting to play.

Finally I played some of The Final Station which is a 2D side scrolling pixel art style game where you play a train conductor who is traveling on the last remaining functional train as it goes from place to place, picking up passengers, exploring abandoned towns, looting stuff. Also there are "zombies". Inbetween towns you have to manage the health and hunger of the passengers who will give you money if they get to their destination. It's telling an interesting story as well. I'm having fun with it.

Hi everyone :)

Lately Ive been playing a ton of WOW:Legion.. I stopped playing wow during Burning Crusade and only just got back to it at the beginning of this year. Finally hit lvl cap and basically im trying to make as much gold as possible so I dont have to pay for the sub. Legion itself is actually really good, I like the new zones and shit.

Dead Rising found its way to ps platforms so I picked up DR and Off the Record up for ps4. Still a lot of fun, what more needs to be said?

Also got the dont starve megapack so if anyone wants to hit me up its mmarsu on psn.

As always im always playing God Hand on my ps2. :shaq

Don't forget you can pay for gametime with ingame gold now. On US server the token cost is around 35k I believe? You can do it from the login screen so you don't even have to buy any gametime. You could easily get that much gold each month I think. On EU it's at least twice that much :/. Still during a pre-Legion event was able to farm a toy that I'm still selling for 15k, have about 20 left and was able to buy two tokens ^_^.

WoW has gotten a lot better if you compare it to where it was during BC. Granted that's like what 10 years ago?

Loved Soul Hackers but I've found that it's much better to just use the main guy, Nemissa, and maybe one demon just so you don't run out of magatama. 3 chars for all the random encounters should be sufficient. Then when it comes time for a boss, have a full party.

VLR/999-2 - Why is the MC like super pervy?  It's really odd in a otherwise serious life or death murder game that the dude is consistently making perv comments/thoughts, though at times it's kind of funny what a pervert the guy is.  Still weird.  I don't remember 999 being like that at all.  Then again VLR was made also for VITA and I guess when you're on VITA your game gets extra perv power or something.

Started playing Psycho Pass: Mandatory Happiness this week. Gameplay is standard visual novel style, with static images and lots of talking, but I really like the Psycho Pass anime so jumping back into that universe [with all the familiar characters from season 1, and a few new ones] helps paper over any shortcomings in the genre. The main selling point here, other than the settings, is the way that the game presents you with decisions to make in each case that effect their outcomes, so it provides more of a connection to the story, rather than just being a casual observer. I do wish there were more backgrounds, character portraits, and animation, but that's just how visual novels are.

One thing I am a bit disappointed by is the violence. The anime was pretty brutal with its violence and didn't hold anything back, while the visual novel puts most of the violence behind a blank screen and just describes what happens. It's not really a big deal, but the difference is noticeable.

Yep, I was playing so inefficient before. There's really no need to keep all that Mag either, I sell most of it for easy cash and it's in abundance in a dungeon so you'll never run out unless you sell everything.

And knowing demons don't actually gain experience is a huge load off my mind. No need to grind or reset if someone dies just as I defeat a boss  :rejoice

My first Platinum Trophy.

WATCH_DOGES was plenty of fun. I finished all the side missions except police chases and scans before finishing the story. I made the same mistake with BULLY, skipping one of the more tedious Achievements until after everything else was finished. It feels SO ANTICLIMACTIC. One day, I'll learn.

As it is, I really liked this game, and will probably buy W_D 2 sooner rather than later. Not only are the core gameplay features solid, but the mix-and-matching of them for missions was well-handled. The story is not great; there's an effort to convey how grey the morality of this world is, but it falls flat because there are some Just Really Wicked people who obliterate the subtlety. Clara Lille's secret and its resolution is handled in a ham-fisted manner. There's at least a nod in the epilogue to Adrian's willingness to kill people who are in his way and placing it in ironic contrast to his utter dysfunction over his niece's death. It reeks of the same -- wait for it -- ludonarrative dissonance as GTA IV's Nico lamenting over whether or not to kill the man who betrayed his team, though he has betrayed others and rained death on countless dozens himself.

W_D 2's set in San Francisco, which I'm more excited about than Nolan's Gotham Chicago.

Anyway, yeah: I was hoping for the longest time that Assasin's Creed would do a near-future version after Abstergo test subjects had the Assassin skillz awakened in them, but this is a better game across the board than that could have been.

Just unlocked the Ultimate Melody in Project Diva X, so I'll probably finish that up today. This weekend I'm gonna start Suikoden V.

Finally got to the locks in all eighteen of these stupid branches in VLR/999-2 after about 18 hours.  Now is the fun endgame part and solving all these locks and watching the endings.
Have fun!....and stop after your done.

Yeah, I heard ZTD sucks.  Should I just read a wiki summary of the story rather than play it?  I do enjoy the puzzles in these games for the most part (some are way too out there).

Went from Watchedogges back to Shadow of Mordor, and I'm stunned that the controls feel shoddy in comparison. Mostly it's object interaction. W_D you could just hold ⃞ and it would start interacting with that object, because it was at-range. With Mordor, everything's physical, so I find myself standing next to items and repeatedly grabbing to its left or right, whiffing.

Also difficult after so much time in one over-the-shoulder game to adapt to different controls. Because so many controls are chorded, I had to crack open the manual to re-learn where stealth-kills were on the controller.

It gets a bit oversold, but I enjoyed it.

Sure was pretty.

Really there were only like one or two puzzles that stood out for me in ZTD though I will say the rotating room one was one of the best in the series but the rest of it was sorta crap. Not sure if a Wiki would let you get your head around it, I haven't really found a good summary of it as of yet.  Though there are some rather good summaries for VLR and 999. Part of me think it might just be better to pretend ZTD doesn't exist.

I don't get how it can be that bad?  I mean I kindaaaaa think VLR is sorta bad since a huge chunk of those 18 hours so far have been repeating the same exact events from slightly different viewpoints.  Even though people say you can skip stuff you've already seen, that's not even really true because most branches have the same exact scenes playing out but the group setups are different so it's technically "new" dialogue and you just gotta power tap O through it all.

I mean it was good at the start in the first run, it had some interesting moments and twists in the lead up to locks, and this endgame is fun, so I like it, but holy fuck did this game waste my time making me replay the same 2-3 hour scenario 18 friggen times.  I played 999 twice and it was so much better it's not even funny.

Oh, shit: I still got it.

I wandered into a fight and before I knew it, there were 40 or more Uruk surrounding me. I've usually just died from multiple missed blocks (due to Arkham-esque attack-specific blocking needs), but this time I found the zone and kept killing orcs until there were only 5 left, who ran away in fear, one of which I chased down and interrogated for information.

Fuck yeah. I remember this game.

Yeah, it's only about 70-80 minutes to play through. I did it in one go.

Really? It took me like 3/4 sessions. Probably also indicative of how appealing it is to me as I can sit 2/3 hours and play WoW no problem if there is some time.

"Beat" the ultimate melody on Project Diva X on Normal, cleared all the clouds on Easy/Normal/Hard, so I think I'm done since I'm not gonna grind nor will I attempt Extreme.

Starting Suikoden V tomorrow afternoon.
