@TEXP: have you played and enjoyed games like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden?  It sounds like your complaints lie with the genre as a whole.  Bayonetta is the best at what it does, but if you don't like action games then it isn't for you.

Never played them.  I did think about checking out Ninja Gaiden II and Devil May Cry 4 but if this is how the genre is, I might skip those games.

Yeah you just don't like the genre.  I personally think of those games as 3D versions of Final Fight with alot of fancy stuff added on.

That sucks because I really like 2D beat 'em ups.

I'm not a fan of that genre myself to much anymore along with 99% of fighting games. Too Difficult and too niche for my tastes although when I tried that Bayonetta demo I was definitely liking that one and will eventually gamefly it.

I do really like Bayonetta, and action games in general, and I know it's a great game...but at the moment I'm just not in the mood for an action game.  I'm still on Chapter 5 or 6 and will continue eventually.  I think Darksiders' incredibly dull combat temporarily killed my buzz for action games.

I liked Bayonetta a lot more than I thought I would. The game made it easy to feel badass. But for all its depth (most of which is probably way beyond my abilities), I think it whores the Big Badass Auto/QTE Punishment Sequences even more so than God of War. Which is fine with me, since God of War is just about the only action series I like. The frequency of cutscenes and the damned music eventually got to me, but I liked what I played.

Madworld isn't that bad. Though sometimes the motion stuff isn't too responsive. I'd swing left/right and he'd swing down. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Plus dat soundtrack.

Foolishly I bought the Magic the Gathering XBLA title while it's on sale for 400 points. Thankfully there are no booster packs this time around. The original card game had me by the balls up until about Ice Age. It looks like a decent representation of the gameplay; better than the PC version they had for awhile, at least.

now to see what game that is.

I was buying KH PSP anyway, now I'm more sold on it...or something.  More games need zero shift.  I'm looking forward to Versus XIII only because of the zero shift moves in the trailer.

Finished KH psp with roxas lookalike.  Game was awesome.  I'm OCD gotta get everything so 1 character playthrough took me 22 hours, but if you just do the main story and don't grind and fuse skills to get every attack/spell/ability/d-link it's probably 10 hours per character.   :lol at the ending.

The battle system kicks so much ass.  After Crisis Core and TWEWY and BBS, I think Nomura has the best arpg battle concepts in the Japanese game industry.  Versus will be awesome if SE doesn't reign him in.  Everyone made a big deal about how the main guy in Versus will have ZoE2's zero shift teleport attacking but in BBS you get like 4 zero shift attacks lol.  They all look badass.

I guess my only complaints are the hitting start to bring up the menu screen takes like 2 seconds to LOAD it and I wish you spent more time in the Disney worlds.  They are like 30 mins long, maybe even shorter.  I guess the idea is that each of the 3 characters experiences 1/3rd of the world, so with all 3 playthroughs you get about the same world length as KH1/2 and this way it becomes very bite-sized which is good for portable systems, but it just goes by so fast.

Still I'd say it's one of the best original portable games I've played.  Probably will just blow through the other 2 chars in 8-10 hours each since I know what I'm doing now.  There is so much to take in with BBS that your first playthrough is more of a learning experience.

*edit, oh hey it's me ^^; :lol

yeah that pissed me off too, theres some garbage you want to take out of the decks.

I think the game is designed as an entry level M:TG product so It kinda needs to be simple. I had no problem with it really, I mean it was the price of a 1 1/2 boosters, and I had plenty of fun with it. I even sent away for limited edition Xbox foil promo card  8) Still need to assemble a big green deck to put him in. Ive only got oldskool green fatties like Force of Nature and Verdant Force.

I'm trying to get perfect "S" ratings on each track in ExciteBots in order to unlock the Super Excite mode, but the task is becoming quite painful.

This game is better in virtually every single way than ExciteTruck but I can't seem to get over the lame Bot designs and options.

So uh, why isn't the God of War 3 demo 1080p? Isn't the final version supposed to be 1080p native?

I finished Bayonetta last week and am going through Darksiders.  Took a while to get into it, but I'm starting to enjoy it now.

So uh, why isn't the God of War 3 demo 1080p? Isn't the final version supposed to be 1080p native?
Are you kidding me?  The visuals are among the most impressive I've seen on a console...which means there is no chance you'll see it at 1080p.  If they can't hold a stable framerate at 720p, there's no way that 1080p would even be possible.

Still, due to the type of camera angles present along with the soft lines in the scenery, it still looks smooth at 720p.  High contrast games with sharp lines (such as Mirror's Edge) benefit the most from higher resolutions.

i need to ask .... why does your framerate whorism chip ALWAYS get bypassed when it's a PS3 game? Usually i would be drowning in a see of "I CANT PLAY THIS SHIT!!! It dropped a frame once!!!111oneoneone"
I've given that up this gen.  Has nothing to do with PS3.

Only when the framerate takes a huge dive does it bother me anymore.

Bionic Commando on PS3, for instance, was unplayable for me thanks to a shitty framerate and load times.  On the PC?  It was awesome.

Where have you heard me complain about 360 framerates lately (in recent games)?  I haven't been bothered by any issues as of late.  I used to bitch about it all the time, but the days of stable framerates are pretty much over.  Western devs never seemed to give a shit about high framerates in the first place (on consoles) and Japanese developers can't handle current hardware.

I prefer the PS3 like you prefer the 360, I think that much is obvious.  :)  I just hate building a game collection around an unreliable system especially when all of the new games ship in those awful recycle friendly cases with the huge gaps in them.

Quote
some one needs to fill me in : does this look better than the demo because i've no idea why people keeps saying it looks amazing. It looks good, but certainly didn't pop my socks off so i can only assume there's some massive upgrade that's happened .... ?
What does knock your socks off?  The demo looked great, but the screens of content beyond the demo look even more impressive.  It's a beautiful looking production.

- Overlord II, bought the game for cheap for the Ps3. Pretty fun so far. The first game bored me rather quickly. I hope I can play this one for longer.

Also finished HOTD Overkill again with my nephew this weekend. The dialogue is still :rofl

I really enjoyed Excite Truck, but yeah - there was something about Excite Bots that just put me off.

I'm sure it's great and will try it out some day.

For me it felt more focused on wacky kooky things to do in the level like kick a soccer ball or waggle on a pole instead of the racing.  I liked Excite Trucks because it felt like off-road burnout, and gaining stars felt like you were still part of the race.  Excitebots seems like a mini-game collection trapped on a track.

Yep, just played it for 30 minutes. The game is pretty trash so far. It's way too slow. The character moves at like 0.1 miles per hour. And the controls are horrifying. And lol, the game has massive framedrops. Unbelievable, its not as if the graphics are any good...

I loved the first three Fatal Frame games. But this one doesn't seem to impress me much. I guess asian ghost just aren't scary anymore. And the whiny leading girl annoys me to death already.

Not a great start. But I'll keep on playing and hope that it'll get any better. But I'm sure I'm going to stop playing this thanks to the shitty controls.

Yeah I have the Japanese version of 2 on xbox that's worth the $$$$$$ :D  One of the few games I have that's worth anything.  Cost me a lot when it came out though so profit margin isn't huge (my copy is not sealed).  I think I paid about 6000yen used for it a month or two after release.

I have 1/3 on JP PS2, 2 on JP Xbox, and 4 of course on Wii.  Main reason I shelled out for FF2 on Xbox at the time was I heard the gameplay additions over the PS2 one were huge.

Yeah, the story is pretty great so far. Not one, but three persons have lost their memories this time and go on an adventure to recover those memories.
Oscar-worthy material right there.   :lol

But the game has some style. The environments are pretty good and have lots of detail. Something you'd expect from a Fatal Frame game. And I already expect the story to have a crazy ass plot twist in the end.

Valkyria Chronicle 2 is "out" for PSP in Japanese.  Might give it a try although I have yet to play the original.  Seeing as how they seem to be ignoring continuity and brought back several dead characters, it probably doesn't matter anyway.

Still going through Queen's Blade on PSP.  Over halfway done; screwed up royally on the last mission-- "finished" it pretty easily (you just have to take out the lead enemy to clear the stage, and I had two powerful characters placed right where she appears), but fucked up and chose a healer by accident to then take her on in the one-on-one queen's blade battle that follows.  I did 25 points of damage before she killed me with one hit.   :lol :'(

Yeah I still haven't opened MW2 :(  I don't know why I bought it...
