L4D (360) Target had L4D2 on sale for $30 this week so I bought that and the original for $60.
RE5 Downloaded it on XBLA, played a bit. Like RE4 but with Co-Op. Need to put more time into it.
EQ2 Odus is awesome. The Hole is just as cool as the original EQ version.

With SF4 there will be plenty matches where I just feel bullshitted
I've heard other people say this before, but I don't understand why. Bullshitted how?

This isn't to say that SF4 is a bad game in any way, I love it. I just...I can't really explain. Being cheap in SF4 tends to be really rewarding for people, where in SF3, cheapness is rewarded with a hot plate of ass-kicking.

In SF4, more of my matches are lost due to input failure from shortcuts than me actually screwing up.

I'd just say I blame it on me sucking ass, but when I lose enough times at SF4 I just get bored, like I can't do anything. In SF3 I can just keep coming back and I never feel like I'm getting cheated out of a match, it always feels fair.

I really can't explain it clearly.

It's you still being a novice and/or lag coming into play.  Maybe you are also playing the game with a "3rd Strike mind set."  A lot of hardcore SF3 players had trouble adjusting to SF4 when it first came out.

I really want to play you at SF4 Lyte, as soon as I get a 360, like the fucking DAY OF, we need to play. I really want you to help me with my technique.

And I dunno, the main problem is that SF4 feels clunky in comparison to SF3. Just the way hitboxes work and such.

Been playing Mushihime Futari and SF4 with some Williams Pinball in between. Made it to the final boss a couple times in Mushi (usually with no lives and no bombs). Still wind up wasting a ton of bombs due to death every run :-\. Finished the Pin Bot wizard goals in Pinball so it looks like I got the hardest achievements out of the way already. I wind up playing this when I want to relieve some rage from Mushi.

:bow Arcade games - nothing better.

Playing Super Metroid again and attempting to up my already GODLY SKILLZ to new heights of godliness in preparation for a semi-srs segmented speed run. My goal is to match the previous record of 36 minutes for a segmented any% run. Not shit compared to that guy's 30 minute single segment run, but I'm not Asian like him so I think such a handicap is reasonable.

When I complete it I'll post the YouTubes as fap material for anyone that appreciates exhibitions of non-scrub vidya gaming

Completed the first segment tonight. I know that probably none of you are interested this shit, but I don't play much multiplayer stuff anymore so my epeen has been itching for a good flex lately.

[outube=560,345]cGdkxxiVwSo
[outube=560,345]ExAy7Yn6PbM

Tons of small mistakes, although none really bad enough that I felt like resetting. The in-game timer says I'm at 10 minutes played thus far, so I think I'm on track to meet my goal
Something I noticed about some speedruns is that people make samus constantly switch her diagonal aims back and forth.  Why is this?
Every shoulder-pump moves the sprite forward one pixel. Doesn't seem like much, but it adds up by the end of the game. This can also cause you to accidentally break stride and lose velocity when you're going down a steep slope, which you can see me do at 2:42 in the first video lol. Oh, and you can also stop on a dime by holding a shoulder button down while releasing the run and directional buttons.

Guess this gives me an excuse to post the rest so far:

spoiler (click to show/hide)

[close]

Segment 3 will probably end up being the worst. I was high when I played that one, and I didn't fully realize how embarrassingly bad the last room was until I watched the clip after I saved. Probably should have reset. Oh well

Bayonetta - Chapter 9 now, still having a lot of fun with the game. Bosses are so much fun, but the motorcycle section I just played  :yuck

Uncharted 2 - Absolutely fantastic. Improves upon the first in every way, looks fantastic, plays great and is simply one of the most fun games I've played in a long time.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - Was eight bucks on PSN so I let it take me for a ride. It's as fun as I remember it.

There is such thing as being a dick, though.  Taking advantage of glitches and infinites and basically not playing with good sportsmanship like a real life sport puts you into that category.

Meh, the only [good] game that really falls into that category is Marvel which is so unbalanced it's balanced. Or using a broken/banned character, like Super Turbo/HD Remix Akuma, I guess. Usually when people complain about cheapness it's because they keep falling for the same tricks that can be countered.

And of course, the #1 rule of fighting games is 'play to win.'

Well, technically the modern fighting game can be traced back to a glitch in SF allowing players to cancel into combos, can't they? Players exploiting glitches: I can see it being more the fault of the development company than the player.

But in some cases you might like a game for a million reasons but then its completely ruined because someone finds some exploit that the entire game will subsequently revolve around.  It may be the developer's fault, but you can't always just go somewhere else to get a fix.  Some genres often go neglected except for the occassional title here and there.

Yeah.  Say a developer makes a great strategical fighting game.  Everyone plays it and enjoys it and it's awesome.  Then someone discovers that low-jab pokes are overpowered.  Now the entire game has gone from a strategic fight between to people with varying styles to two characters sitting around ducking and jabbing all day.  I think stuff like that really ruins the "fun" of what fighting games are supposed to be about.

This is true, but a number of infinites and/or characters deemed "broken" are banned from tournament play.  People usually take what they think to be "cheap" from those rules.  I say don't play the game if it's that shitty that one character or a certain combo loop can be exploited so easily.  It's why I am baffled that people love broken-ass games like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.  I'll play it casually, but seriously?   LOL.

Depends.  If the game is shit and those low-jab pokes can't be beat, then yes.  Otherwise, people will find ways around it.

It was up a year or so ago when I dabbled in it a little bit. Then I deleted it because my HDD was getting full, but now I have a bigger one and I wanted them back.

I put in the Halo 2 disc and you are still able to download them through the game. One at a time and slow as hell, but they are still there.

Thanks! There's only 2 bosses left and that's it, but it's about 12-14 minutes played time or 16-21 minutes real time depending on how well things go. The in-game clock is only ticking while the player is in control of Samus, so stuff like door and elevator transitions and time spent in the menu doesn't count. I dunno if I can still make 36 minutes or not; will probably have to reset a shitton and get some good segments to make up for the time lost so far

I played the lite version they released after updating the game to version 2.0.  It still runs like shit and has terrible controls, plus the jumping just feels "off" and not like the original NES version.  If this is really emulated, they fucked up BADLY.

wow, uh I did not expect Classic Dungeon to be this good.  I thought this was going to be like "support N1 and get an ok retro game"
But it's VERY VERY GOOD.  Just played almost 5 hours straight.  Don't think I'll be touching any other games for a while.

Imagine Disgaea if it was a fast action heavy arpg like Ys or Zelda on crack.
And with optional random item world from Disgaea
And lots and lots of loooot
And job classes, and support units
And really good fast controls
And dungeon floors that are 2 mins or under

If N1 goes out of business ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, they are the best loot/grind addiction designers in the J-industry.

Classic Dungeon's an action RPG?  I'm interested now!

Besides a shit-ton of RE5 tonight, I also started Dynasty Warriors Strike Force.  PS3 version only because Koei games are region-locked on 360, so I'm outta luck if I want English versions.   :'(  It's more fun than it was on PSP; besides the better frame rate and visuals, it just seems to work better on a console.  You get more enemies to fight in each sub-area, plus there's 4P co-op online play.  If you have any kind of interest in any of the Koei Musou games, plus like games like Phantasy Star Online, this is worth a look.  It's kind of like a fusion of the two.  You get "loot" in the form of materials which can be used to get new items/weapons/abilities, and there's subquests you can go on in addition to the main stages.  The basic controls are the same as you typical Dynasty Warriors game, but the game play is different.  Instead of being on open battlefields, you now travel in a more linear-style progression on smaller maps with sub-areas all interconnected to each other.

Terrain can be multi-leveled, since you can now jump multiple times dash in the ground and on the air, making for very fast-paced movement.  There aren't as many enemies in each area compared to the normal Musou games, but to make up for it, they are more aggressive and not quite as brainless as the typical grunts that stand around and do nothing.  You get a main and a sub-weapon that can be switched back and forth at any time, making for some longer combo strings, plus you can now fight in the air.  Sub-weapons can be changed to a variety of different types once you get the items needed to create them, so can effectively change up the way any character plays.  And of course there's the obvious Dragon Ball Z-inspired transformations.  Instead of just unleashing a rage attack when you get a full musou bar, you can now power-up your character, changing his/her appearance and making him/her stronger/faster.  You can stay transformed as long as you are hitting enemies, keeping the bar up.   And from here, you can also unleash a musou attack like the regular games, leaving you de-powered afterwards.  Select enemy bosses can also do this.  Since movement can be a little chaotic, you can also lock onto selected enemies by facing them and pressing R3.  You'll stay locked on and can then strafe/dash towards/away from them.  Since I just started, I've only encountered human opponents, but there are also non-human enemies (some are gigantic) that you come across.  It's a total fantasy re-imagining of Dynasty Warriors.

TL;DR version- Dynasty Warriors Strike Force is pretty fun; it plays smoother/better than the PSP version, has 4P online, and you can try a demo for yourself on both 360 and PS3.

Took them long enough to release this in English...Multi Raid 2 hits PSP next week, but with all the customization/item stuff, I prefer this game in English.

Yeah, it's even got 4 player coop ...ad-hoc :X

It's too bad there aren't any gameplay videos on youtube yet.  The trailer is ok, but it'd be easier to get a feel if someone just made a video of running through a dungeon floor.  I dunno if you'd like it though.  While skill plays a big part, it's still pretty stat heavy in terms of damage input/output so if you aren't into stat rpgs you might not like it.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - The 360 pad is nigh unplayable with this game.  I'm going to need to get a fighting pad.

stalker call of pripyat is great so far.  Way better than Clear Sky, just judging the early parts maybe as good or better than the original.

i agree

Since I'll be without internet, I just wanted to get some opinions for some XBLA titles I might get:

Pac Man CE
Rez HD
Triggerheart Exelica
Vandal Hearts

So far, I'd like to get Ikaruga, Puzzle Fighter, and just purchased Marvel vs. Capcom 2.  I played Castle Crashers to death on my old roommate's 360.  Thought about getting SSF2T HD remix but I need a fighting pad if I want to play any more 2D fighting games.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Trials HD, although it loses alot of its appeal without online leaderboards.  At least grab it when your internet comes back up!

Catan, huh? I've been thinking of buying that on XBLA. Right now I'm playing Splosion Man.

If you get, I'll play with against you.

It's basically like, Civilization: The German Hexagonal Board Game.

I wouldnt get Vandal Hearts.

I would pick:

TMNT Arcade (NOT Reshelled)
Shadow Complex
Rez
Banjo Kazooie / Tooie
Puzzle Quest (NOT Galactrix)
Splosion Man
Castlevania
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Mega Man 9
Metal Slug 3
N+
Peggle
