Yeah, I liked it.  It doesn't set the world on fire, but it's better than it has any right to be for a wiimote whimsy spinoff

Has anyone played Valhalla Knights for wii? I was looking up info on it, and apparently it has a co-op mode. Gameplay makes it feel like a Monster Hunter clone. Is this worth pursuing? The online mode at least.

I beat the campaign in Chaos Rising. Relic really stepped it up by adding tons more enemies on screen at a time, making less frequent lame boss fights, and getting rid of the shitty defense missions (there are a few this time, but you are assisted by npc's and fighting all the enemies looks cool)

I couldn't get into Persona 2.  I might give it another whirl when I get my PSP since I prefer playing JRPGs on handhelds now.

Edit:  I'm playing Mega Man 9 now and getting owned because my gaming skills have atrophied from playing slow paced menu driven RPGs. :'(

Trying to finish Uncharted 2.  I left off at the Tibetan village 3 months ago.  Since then I've upgraded the PS3's hard drive but forgot to backup the game saves.  Luckily, the game will allow the use of saves from someone else.  The only drawback is that using a borrowed save file will bar me from trophies, which I don't care about anyway.  Big thanks to Sony for getting something right for once.

Screwing around with my netbook.  BlazBlue Continuum Shift runs, and I can even play it with the full backgrounds when overclocked!  Crazy stuff.  Having a bitch of time getting the right buttons mapped to what though (you NEED Xpadder for the game to properly work, too).

Gonna get back to Hokuto Musou and finally beat the last boss in a minute.

Lyte, how big of an upgrade is CS?  Worth $40 when it comes out in the summer on consoles?  2 new characters doesn't seem like a whole lot.  Has the gameplay changed at all?

Considering that BlazBlue Calamity Trigger is fucked (in any kind of serious versus play) by its ridiculous character imbalance, CS is going to be worth it for that alone.  The home version is getting an extra playable character (so three new characters) plus new modes and the like.  I haven't played around with CS too much, but there are some game play tweaks and changes, yes.  (One thing I like is that breaking out of Jin's ice freeze is now automatic.)  The big deal here is the character balance is much, much, MUCH better.

You should just get the PC "rip" and try the arcade version for yourself.  It's as simple as downloading a file, unzipping it, setting your controls, and launching the game now.

played Mega Man 10 to the extreme yesterday, Im up to the Wily Castle on Normal. This Boss Gauntlet shit is pretty grueling, but I'll get there. None of the boss patterns are that difficult, just facing so many at one time gets a bit confusing. Im not doing too badly for a Mega Man n00b (I hope). After this its hard mode time! Im guessing once I beat the game on hard getting the Mr Perfect achieve on easy will be a cakewalk!

Im definitely picking up MM9 after Im done with this.

Beat Kenshiro's story mode in Hokuto Musou.  The final fight with Raoh was easier since I went into with all my musou full this time around.  That unlocked Kenshiro in illusion mode.  Then I played through Toki's story mode (it's just three stages long, and each level is on the shorter side), and wouldn't you know it?  Fucking Raoh is his final boss too.   :lol  Toki's way too damn weak against Raoh right now so I'm going to have to grind a bit to build him up.  I didn't have to grind with Kenshiro, but then he also has 14 stages to play through.

If anyone knows about the whole Fist Of The Northstar story, can you tell me why the hell Raoh was accompanying Toki for a bit after they fought once...only to fight again?  I don't get it.

Just got to Chapter 10 in Yakuza 3. The scene right at the end of Chapter 9 with all the talking and talking and talking nearly put me to sleep. I've never fallen asleep while playing a game before, but if that would have went on for 3 more minutes I would have been out. With that being said, the story is okay so far, just not as interesting as Yakuza 1 or 2.

Started playing Mamiya's story in Hokuto Musou.  I did clear one Illusion stage with her previously, but I don't think that really matters; I still haven't tried Jagi (who I assume fights the same way) and don't have everyone unlocked yet, but Mamiya so far seems to be the most powerful character in the game.   :lol  Her long-range fighting style and especially her unique action (R1), which is a large crossbow blast that can be charged, can be as powerful as any other character's musou attack and can clear out whole crowds of enemies.  I just beat the first stage with her effortlessly; the end boss, the big Boss Fang guy (who uses a very annoying pro wrestling style that later sub-generals also use) took me a retry with Kenshiro and a little while to go down, but with Mamiya he hit me once.  I LOL'd.  There are some spots in stages with small holes that Kenshiro and co. can't enter; Mamiya can (giving you the obligatory fan-service ass shot) and this leads to other areas or shortcuts to the ending stages.  So far though, it seems that in story mode everybody has maybe one unique level of their own and then shares stages from Kenshiro's story mode.

I needed to play something non-M-Rated in front of my kids, so I dusted off Rockstar's Table Tennis. The game is surprisingly good, and graphically it holds up quite well. Wasn't this nearly a launch title for 360? 6 months post-launch almost qualifies.

Gameplay-wise, it's a solid example of executing a polished game by limiting the game's features instead of adding them. Too bad so much of the Achievement balance is tied up in online matches.

Yeah, my impressions are largely the same as I remember them. As a single player game I don't find it very compelling. The shooting and running around is fun enough if not very mindless and so is collecting the orbs but I'm not very compelled to play it or finish it just like the first time around.

What I will say is that I can easily imagine it being a superior experience via co-op where its more about crazy shit happening so I'm still interested in playing through the sequel if some people on here end up getting it.

That's great, Scenester!

I may be on this weekend, if you're interested in goin' back to Stilwater and mopping up co-op Activity 'cheevs or online MP badges. SR2! :rock

Geometry Wars 2 was mentioned as only being five yanqui dolla in the discount thread, so I picked it up. The modes really open up the gameplay to some new fun. King is sphincter-clenchingly fun. I will probably never get the Wave mode's "Pacifist" 'cheev, because the pattern is too hard for me to grok.

Then I want to boost the setting you on fire badge and I still need both the party play cheevs which will poop no sweat, THEN we can do the activities. Ive got it all planned out, haha.

Been playing Lead & Gold. Pretty much a TF2 with a western skin. The western flavor doesn't change much or not as much as I had hoped. The rifleman/sherrif is sort of an interesting class, but I suck too much right now to comment.

The interesting parts are the synergy buffs and the specific abilities. The rifleman's tag ability allows a team to mark a target where ever it moves, including behind walls and different floors. I am not sure if it gives a damage bonus on the target, but it seems when I 'tag' a person they die faster. It just may be from drawing attention to them. Not sure.

Could use a fifth class. I always like more class variations.

Synergy buffs don't stack, but it doesn't seem people try to get every class just for the buffs. The best maps/game are the ones where a team has to carry TNT barrels to specific buildings and blow them up, and the other side has to defend. Here, the armor synergy buff helps more than in a capture the flag map, just to protect the TNT carrier.

Ran into one bug so far, an invisible wall on one of the capture point maps. The worst part was that the invisible wall was right outside a capture point entrance, so I ran straight and found myself running in place as the other team ran out and mowed me down.

also i know most people that played it says that pale wing is better but i like my guns and rocket better than all that laser stuff and the jetpack feels more gimmick than anything plus i seems to understand that pale wing can't drive tanks and that's just sad...

I started playing FFXI for realz.  It's an interesting experience.  Very different from single player jrpgs.  Reminds me more of wrpg gaming.  The scale of everything is massive in its attempt to be realistic, but it also makes it less "fun" imo because traveling takes forever; even just running through a city.  I've always been a fan of fun over realism in gaming.  Will keep playing and see how far I get in my free month.  Then will see how improved FFXIV is because I decide if I want to give it a shot.

Otherwise just playing RoF mainly with Prinny2 when in portable gaming situations.

Finished Mamiya's Illusion mode in Hokuto Musou on normal.  The ending was far more satisfying than the story mode, which seemed kinda weird.  I ended up replaying her first stage to level up a bit, then went through the entire last stage and took out every single enemy before taking on Souther.  Just kept countering his bullshit with Musou attacks to break out of his combo strings...was a snap!

Really wish Toki was already unlocked in Illusion mode so I could grind with him easier.  Guess it's back to his story mode again so I can clear his and go onto Rei's.

I beat Trine tonight. I liked the game, but the infinite respawning enemies and the last level almost ruined it for me. I had to bump it down to easy so I wasn't racing against lava and it was still shitty. If that demon or whatever didn't spam summon objects it wouldn't be half as bad.

I really liked Trine. I look forward to a sequel.

My problem with the last level isn't so much that its difficult because I didn't really think it was but mainly how it was such a jump up in difficulty from what had come before. It's like taking the final exam and suddenly its different from what you've been studying for the rest of the course.

Starcraft 2. Almost to platinum league. :bow Me :bow2

AND

FF13. The beginning is sooooo slow and boring that I'm not very far yet. In fact, I actually just got paradigm shift. The production values are fucking insane though, and I have a feeling that even if I find myself detesting the characters and the story and the linearity (all likely), the gorgeous environments and music along with the (supposedly fun, not quite there yet) battle system will be enough to carry me through

It was totally doable, and it only took like 15 minutes or so, but the object summoning really cheapened it for me. And what you said about how much different it is from the rest of the game is true. I also didn't care for the infinite spawning enemies, but thats just a pet peeve of mine.

If it makes you feel better, you were playing the patched, improved final section of the game.  Imagine how much that last part sucked when I played it right when it was released.

Scenester and I cleared about half the co-op Activities for Saints Row 2 yesterday. That game. Nothing feels like a chore. So happy Volition stepped up and remembered what is fun, when Rockstar forgot.

Going back to Darksiders and am just about to face Tiamat. I don't see how anyone complains about the look of this game; it's gorgeous. However, the lock-on feature seems buggy. Even if I've NEVER let off the lock, and I don't stick-flick to assign a new lock-on target, it arbitrarily changes. In a game where I need to focus on Big Bad Guys, not just to attack but to back DIRECTLY AWAY from them, this is a problem.

Also, yes, Geometry Wars 2 is crack.

40 hours logged into Resonance of Fate in the last 7 days.  I'm about 60-70% through, so hopefully I'll finish this up in another week.  I've pretty much dropped everything else game/movie/life to marathon this when I'm not doing school stuff.  Game is too addicting for my weakness of grinding rpgs.  Need to get it done and out of my veins.

Finally started playing SF4 again. I'm making so many noob mistakes, smh.

Slowly moving up the leaderboards in Geometry Wars 2 and I only have the two sequence achievements left to get.

Haven't touched Strange Journey in like a week now. I'm still in Bootes, but I think I'm almost done with it.

I like it too. I'm a sucker for screaming out moves. Gives you more oomph.

Covenant of the Plume was pretty fun, I really liked the story in it and how it twists the usual VP plot setup.

I am still grinding away at FF13... beat the single player game, got myself a Ribbon, and am now doing hunts. Did nearly 30 of them at the moment... but I think I am gonna grind the hell out of Adamantoises before challenging the Faultwarrens missions.

You don't need too grind too much.  Maxing out the 3 main jobs per character should suffice.  Don't venture into the other jobs before maxing out the three main jobs; the best stat buffs, abilities, and extra accessory slots are all found in the your characters original jobs.  Going into the other jobs is a waste of CP, before maxing out your main jobs.
