I like the GOW series. Especially relative to that genre where the more technical it gets the more I generally lose interest in those games. But I never understood the appeal of Kratos. He always seemed like a dick bag to me.
In the first game he was an angry guy that was kinda badass since he was taking on a god and killing giant beasts. In the second, he was taking on gods, including Zeus, and he was even angrier about being betrayed; again, kinda cool because he's one dude against the gods. In GoW3, he's just a cunt and the entire game feels like you're treading the same ground.
They tried to make him more sympathetic and explain that his rage was like an addiction and weakness that he couldn't control, but they had to go to such extremes to portray it. In the end (or beginning, really) he just seems angry for the sake of being angry, and angry towards everyone.

The titans betray him...for no actual reason, which was a smart plan considering this is the same dude that killed a bunch of gods and helped all of them, right? so the rest of the game is him regaining his powers to reach almost the exact same point where the game began. It's a lot of fluff to pad out the time between you fighting Zeus...again.
I could get into why Kratos is such a cunt in God of War 3, but yeah, watch any single cutscene and bask in his cuntiness.
Say what you will about david jaffe, but the idea he threw out about how GoW3 should play out would have been a lot more interesting. You basically kill Zeus and the gods at the beginning of the game, then gods from other faiths all form up to take that seat of power and you have to fight them. Would have made the game more interesting in general since, I assume, it would jump between different architecture and designs for those different bad guys (as opposed to all Greek).
