i finished resonance of fate,it was good but it had it's share of problem... first, the plot, nothing really stupid happens and in fact the first half of the game is even funny to watch but it's like they forgot half of the cutscenes! there are so many plot-thread hanging around into nothingness that it feels more stupid than metal gear solid 2! yes! fucking metal gear solid 2! was this game made by the radiata stories director? because i swear,it follows the same road... it starts funny, then it get melodramatic, then it ends in fuckery!
second, the first chapter's are great but then as you keep playing, the game just seems to drag and reduce the amount of new stuff that it throwns at you, several chapter near the end don't contain any dungeon at all,one of them has you just giving gift to little kids which seems like a huge waste of time, some side quest are guilty of this too, some make you repeat a dungeon twice and some throw you into the same fight at least 4 times which is puzzling
the game difficulty is also really weird, when you are in the first chapters,it's really great you hide behind stuff, you use hero action to cover lot of terrain, you try to take advantage of elemental weakness, then somewhere along the road your machine gun guy become so powerfull that every fight ends up in "hero action, charge as much as possible, jump, repeat with a handgun, win" tough i guess this is a win in a tri-ace game considering in star ocean 2 you can get the third most powerfull sword in the game, before the first quarter of the game
of the good bits... the monster design is really cool, there are tanks! giants covered in metal plate's who uses giant drill as weapons! gangster in suits! dogs in gangster hats! one of the boss is a gargantuan monster who uses a whole truck as an armor and the secret dungeon has a clown head with a top hat and a monocle as an enemy... sadly there are a lot of re-colors but you can see them occasionaly fucking around with each recycled model
the battle system is also quite original albeit maybe a little similiar to the one found in valkyrie profile 2,the customization is great, when you upgrade your stuff you can really see the improvement but one thing where they fumbled is that it's pretty much impossible to go over the weight limit making the whole point of leveling up to be able to put more stuff in your gun kinda pointless,it also would have been better if it didn't take forever to get your first new weapon out of the 3 they give you at the beginning, game also sports some pretty rocking tunes
tl;dr it was good but it got worse as i got near the end... i still would recomend it
next game would be viva pinata (or maybe mass effect since a friend of mine said he would be willing to lend it to me) but the next jrpg i'll pick will be nier since three people here on bore went on the trouble of suggesting it
but anyway what's bore opinion on infinite undiscovery? all i know about it is "HURR DURR DINNERP DANCE"
