Finished-finished WANTED; I've got all the 'cheevs except for all collectible items. I'm -so- unwilling to go searching for three pieces of artwork and a few more quotes. These will be as ever-unattained as the last 7 Agility Orbs, and the last flag in Masyaf. Goodbye, sweet WANTED, you were a pain in the ass from start to finish.

Oh, I'm also done-done-done with EA Sports MMA. I wrapped up the only two remaining non-multiplayer 'cheevs, and I've got no interest in hunting online matches and grinding out the win. Mainly because I don't win.

While I'm still in mediocre game mode, I will probably try the first Just Cause or Le Saboteur.

I'm just about to 1000 Splatterhouse... and I'll say again: Check this game out

I love it... I didnt have any (major) problems with it at all.

Splatterhouse is the real Brutal Legend. Real metal, with real voice talent \m/

The ending is poop, but eh what can you do.

Been playing Nehrim (user created game that was constructed from TES Oblivion). Its awesome. There's a bit of jank and its hard as fuck. The vocal dialog is also all in German and the story has some of that dark fantasy German shit.

The way things are handled (as far as how the world reacts to leveling) is completely different than Oblivion. I think it feels more like Risen the way exploration is handled (strong enemies everywhere but theres a satisfying Risk/Reward feel to the exploration). Though I'm having trouble with dealing with enemies in the 7-14 level areas, they rape me so hard. On another note, Alchemy is fucking awesome in Nehrim since the potions you create are actually useful because they're needed (since enemies are actually hard) and its a great way to gain Gold (since gold is hard to come by).

The leveling and skill system has been partially separated. The way you level is by killing enemies and gaining experience. But raising skills like Sneak or Blade still has an impact on the bonus points you get for certain Stats (like Sneak will give a x2 x3 or x5 multiplier to Agility if you train it). You also gain Learning Points each level to be used towards gaining skill points via trainers.

Also, not sure if its just my system (which is mostly shit) but this game runs like ass on my PC. Maybe it'll run better on a modern system.

Tweak your game with the game launcher, memory preload etc., use oblivion stutter remover, and turn shit down if you have to Nehrim runs worse than Oblivion because they upped the visuals shader tweaks etc.

Bought Sayuri in Hard Corps Uprising. HOLY SHIT is the game so much easier with her. She RAPES most of the bosses within seconds and she doesn't lose her weapon when she gets hit, since she only has a Strider-esque sword. I played Bahamut and Krystal for 25 hours, trying to figure out what weapons I need to pick up on each stage and how to advance without ever getting hit, since taking damage will cost me a lvl 3 weapon. With Sayuri, I don't need to worry about shit. God damn she is my savior. The 1-life clear achievement is definitely within reach now.

Hard Corps: Uprising = GotY. Best game on XBLA.  Best run and gun shooter since Metal Slug 3. Best Contra game ever.

Playing Rising Mode in Hard Corps... made it to level 4 or so, some of these stages would be impossible to play through in arcade mode. Damn this game is HARD! But it plays great, probably my favorite Contra since III.

Stealth is broken, yeah.

The K&L games are great, they just need to be priced at $15-20 XBLA/PSN games and stay 3-4 hours long w/multi.  Stretching them out probably will just make them feel repetitive and boring.

So, after playing Disgaea 4 for 30 mins I can safely say that Disgaea 4 is Disgaea 3/2/1 with HD sprites & animated stills during cutscenes.

Basically as expected.  eh.  I like the Disgaea games, but I miss innovative N1.  Disgaea is kind of been there, done that after all these games.
Oh well, if D4 has a good story/characters and some fun maps it'll be a solid ride regardless.  D1 was great, D2 was kind of zzzzz, D3 was somewhere in between.

D2 has better gameplay than D1, sure.  But the story was really boring and the main characters were all dull except for Axel who was awesome and returns in D4.

Disgaea is 1/2 about the grinding stats and 1/2 about the characters.  Each game has better gameplay because they just keep evolving it, but the cast goes up and down.

Beat Nier. Story turns to shit at the end, so I started skipping cutscenes. Great game.

EDIT: Oh, and I got the <15 hour cheevo. Gonna go back in the summer and 1000 it, but it's shelved for now. Next up, Beyond Good and Evil.

Yeah, I got ending A. Like I said, I'm gonna go back and 1000 it, but for right now, going through it once is enough. How much is different on additional playthroughs? Are there more parts in the world I get to see? New bosses?

And I think the next game I'm gonna try and beat is SMT: Nocturne. Any tips before I go into that game? I remember hearing around the time of its release that it was pretty unforgiving.

I don't think there are any new bosses or new areas, but starting with the second playthrough, the story changes dramatically. Playthrough 2 is basically the second half of the story. Playthroughs 3 and 4 just have different endings.

nocture is a lot easier as long as you spam the stat up/stat down spells,if anything the problematic bosses are all the one who have stat up/stat down spell of their own

fog breath is especialy usefull as it will make your opponent miss half of their attack (which also force them to skip a turn)

most people also have trouble with one of the earlier boss called matador,to defeat it grind to level 12 and then make the demon you get by fusing a pixie and an angel,it will be resistant to the boss special attack and it will known the first party heal spell

Went to Winter Brawl in Philadelphia over the weekend, but decided not to bother entering anything after staying up way too late Friday night getting shitfaced and bodied by Sanford Kelly in SSF4 casuals and Tom(-Like?) who crashed in my room and ended up tied for 9th in MvC3 singles and seeded to EVO.

Probably shouldn't have let that discourage me quite so much, but I expect to get more than just a deflated ego out of my registration fee when I can get that for free.

Still had a hell of a lot of fun just playing various casuals and money matches (MvC3, SSF4, 3S, Super Turbo).

i think i'll stop playing dragon quest vi,i don't like leaving a game half finished but the love spark is gone and all it remains is an encounter rate that would make crazy anybody that's not already insane, like you get attacked every 5 second,a job system that is ultra grindy and a probable final dungeon that's just full of recolors of old enemies

i think i'll play bayonetta next,i watched the intro and it was the most ridiculous thing i have seen since god hand :lol,is it the same director?

I finally finished Telltale's Strong Bad series after playing it on/off for like 1.5 years, lol.

Ep5 was really good.  All the rest were kind of boring game design with good humor.  Ep5 was basically just another videogame homage like ep5 of Sam and Max S1, but it was nicely done and lots of awesome 2d sprite work and surprises.

Spoiler pics:
spoiler (click to show/hide)

[close]

Now I've gone through their S&M S1/S2, Strong Bad, Puzzle Agent and BttF ep1.  Going to tackle BttF ep2 next and then I'll finally sit down and play the Monkey Island season and S&M S3.  After getting like 3 seasons backlogged, I think my goal now is to play their new stuff (BttF/JP) as they come out so I don't increase my telltale backlog any further.

You have good taste, sir.

And speaking of adventure games, I got Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper from Gamefly. I need to stop adding anything that looks somewhat interesting to my queue. Gonna finish Dead to Rights before I start it though.

And the 1 life clear achievement in Hard Corps is driving me crazy. I've gotten to stage 7 several times and I always die to something that has never killed me before. I wish this game weren't so long. :maf

Two people have it on True Achievements (and on a side note: the game is worth 1749 TA points right now - over 8x the base value. lulz), but I know a few other people who aren't on TA have it as well. It's definitely one of the hardest achievements around. Once I get it - and I'm not stopping until I do get it - it'll probably be the hardest achievement I've done. Or at least up there with 100 wins in DOA4 survivals, beating mission mode on Master Ninja in NG2, and SF4 challenges.

I try to limit myself to only doing a couple attempts a day, but I keep going back to it since I know I can do it. I just need to have one run where I don't make a distinguished mentally-challenged mistake that kills me.

It goes from haha wow this is funny in a bizarre sort of way to k I'm sick of this Japacrap and what the fuck is the skip button (right trigger + select for future reference) within like three cutscenes

I actually haven't even finished Bayonetta LOL. So much for 1000/1000. All the shittastic arcadey vehicle segments seriously pissed me off. I died with like 20 seconds to go on the last one because I was just spamming the shoot button and half-watching something on Netflix on my computer, got restarted way farther back than I felt was appropriate, dropped it, and haven't picked it up again since.

I should finish it up and start a new game on hard, though. That vehicle stuff was my only real complaint that I can remember

Radiant is awesome, really enjoying it.

Demon Souls has its moments, but its so "japanese" theres so much that Dark Souls can fix to make it a REALLY GOOD GAME.

I tried out Pix n' Rush because it was free on PSN+; if you've played Arkedo's Pixel, it's basically taking that and turning it into 3 genres of Pac-man DXish minigames.

The games are pretty good!  If they added 4p online versus and stuck it on XBLA it'd take off as they'd be great party games.  1p they're fun but without online leaderboards or multiplayer or trophies it's a bit of a waste.  Still fun though.

Really enjoying BttF ep2 so far.  No idea how long it is, but about an hour or 90 mins in atm and it's at least 2-3x better than ep1 was.  The graphics look WAY better.  It's like in the two months between they realized that the main town area looked awful and with some lighting touches made it look good, plus all the new areas look nice and the camera angles seem much more cinematic making the visuals look better overall.  Puzzles and pacing have been pretty good albeit fairly linear.  Story is also more interesting this time around.

With ep1 I was feeling like "it's nice for the nostalgia" but with this ep I'm actually really enjoying it all.  Hope this means the series will only get better each month.

bayonetta is really cool! makes me feel extra sad for when i got dead rising chop till you drop because there wasn't anything else to play on the wii... :(

but anyway there is 2 thing i don't get

1) does it autosave after every checkpoint or am i supposed to finish each chapter in a single run? cause not being able to leave mid level is a somewhat pain in the ass
2) what does exactly the moon of khala does? i understand it helps with dodging but i don't understand how exactly... does it make dodging work like in metroid other m where you can dodge everything by mashing directions?

Playing Fable 2, just recruited the BBW lady with the hammer, and have done a few sidequests. It's a lot better than the first game in terms of scope and content, the sim features are much better too. It feels a bit more like a "full" game, while the original was a short, extremely linear "proof of concept". I don't like how the combat is extremely simplistic (at this point), the map systems suck (well I guess there's the golden trail to help you out), the game looks really blurry, and how the menu interface feels EXTREMELY sluggish.

bayonetta is really cool! makes me feel extra sad for when i got dead rising chop till you drop because there wasn't anything else to play on the wii... :(

but anyway there is 2 thing i don't get

1) does it autosave after every checkpoint or am i supposed to finish each chapter in a single run? cause not being able to leave mid level is a somewhat pain in the ass
2) what does exactly the moon of khala does? i understand it helps with dodging but i don't understand how exactly... does it make dodging work like in metroid other m where you can dodge everything by mashing directions?

Bayonetta autosaves alllllllllll of the time. Like, after almost every battle. That's what makes Pure Platinum'ing the entire game more bearable, since you can do it fight by fight and back out if you get hit.

The Moon is used for parrying. Press forward right before you get hit and she'll parry the attack. If you do it with perfect timing, she'll do a "perfect parry" and slice through the enemy and activate witch time.

Started playing SMT: Strange Journey. Reminds me of Etrian Odyseey, but with a manly scifi story and monster collecting. Will continue playing because it's awesome.

The story quickly becomes dull and uninteresting after a few hours. Disappointing game.

1000'd Dead to Rights Retribution. Pretty average game. It's basically Gears of War with a dog, some simple stealth sections, and melee combat. The mission structure/level design is the low point point of the game, since it's never interesting and it's extremely repetitive. At least the animation is great.

Gonna start Sherlock Holmes now. Apparently you can't even install this game. We're off to a great start.

I get the message, "Installation of this game isn't supported."

There's a thread about it on gamefaqs too so it's not just me: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/977601-sherlock-holmes-vs-jack-the-ripper/57655422
