Fuck Killzone 3 right in the ass.  This going immediately back to gamefly.

I'm to the point where I NEVER want to play another Killzone game ever.  What a shitty FPS.

Fuck you Killzone.

reading the thread on gaf about wizardry made me want to give another spin to class of heroes and... i now remember why i hated it,there is barely any graphic or music in here, all you have are boring ass random battles and loot, heck i want to enjoy the loot,i'm attracted by the loot but the rest of the game sucks so much i'm not sure how people can play these kind of games

one of the things that amuses me in these kind of games are the amount of arbitrary limitation they put in there just because "IT'S HARDCORE!" like,if you go to the inn you can restore your MP for free or your HP and MP for a small amount (actualy a decent sized amount at the beginning of the game) of money but considering that you have a heal spell, why you would ever want to waste money?

I'm on the fence about Wizardry. I want it, but I've got a massive backlog that I should tackle this summer, so I shouldn't be buying more stuff.

Crappy mini games for simplistic exercises is the worst thing Mass Effect has done to rpgs.

If I want to open a chest (safe in this case) I DON'T want some stupid ass bobby pin or terminal hacking mini game.

Tried out New Vegas, and I'm so fucking pissed they didn't get rid of the single worst feature in that game. If my skill is high enough, let me hack through. If it's not, OH WELL, don't let me hack. But I don't want to have to do a shitty ass mini game to do it.

FUCK.

pretty sure that's why there is force lock with an increasing percentage the higher your skill is

I like it.  I like that Deus Ex Human Revolution has an in-depth hacking mini-game instead of just 'waiting...waiting' like in the first game.  Instead of nerdy-ass dice rolls and stats, it lets player skill determine success/failure like it should.  Makes it feel like you're playing a role.

that shit is gay

What do I do to make New Vegas more fun? Any quests you suggest I do asap or places to go? It's not clicking as much as Fallout 3 did so far.

I guess I really liked how Fallout 3 set itself up, starting out in the vault. So by the time you get out into the wastes, adventuring really means something. Right now in New Vegas I feel like I've been plucked right into the world without much reason. I'm supposed to care about a guy who shot me, who said about one line worth of dialogue.

I guess I'll head to the town southeast of Goodspring.

I made it up the the part where the demo is and when I got to the jetpack section, I turned it off.  I just wasn't having any fun with it, unlike KZ2 which I thought was pretty good until the very last level.  Someone over there needs to pump the breaks with the KZ franchise before the wheels really fall off this thing, if they haven't already.

Goodsprings? Man, you're right at the beginning.  I didn't like New Vegas very much when I first started and was going to quit several times but the closer I got to Vegas the more I liked it.  There's a ton of more stuff to do in New Vegas than there was in Fallout 3 but that's not very apparent when you're just starting out.   Just keep plugging away at it, or at least until you meet up with the Legion.  Primm isn't any better than Goodsprings but it gets a lot better from there on imo.

And I'm playing Vegas again on my PC thanks to that sale at D2D the other day....what a world of difference.  Now I can play this game without it turning into a buggy clusterfuck.

Got gold medals in every campaign event on Elite in Wipeout now. The game is awesome, but the AI rubberbanding is absolutely ridiculous. It's like the long tournaments are completely rigged to make sure the player doesn't come in 1st too often, in order to keep the standings relatively close. Such stupid shit.

Gonna start the Racebox stuff later today I guess.

edit: oh what the fuck, you need a second PS3 controller to do one of the trophies. I guess I can try to borrow one, ugh.

After an evening of sitting down with New Vegas, I'm warming up to it. I headed to Nipton as suggested and it's a bit better, though not ideal. The factions feel so black and white so far, though, and that's kind of taking the fun out of the game for me so far. I'm already on the shit list of one faction, the whatever Gangers. I don't see why anyone would want to affiliate with those losers, and so far the Legion just looks absolutely batshit insane, in a distinguished mentally-challenged evil way.

The game so far feels incredibly empty compared to Fallout 3, but I'm still early. The writing isn't necessarily a step up so far, either. Then again, like I said, pretty early. The vocabulary used in New Vegas is certainly more eclectic in terms of writing and terminology, so that's refreshing at least.

Right now I'm just questing as I head to Vegas.

My character build is pretty boss, and I'm massacring everything in sight, at level 5 and almost maxed out my Guns. I am head shotting fuckers left and right. This feels considerably more easy compared to Fallout 3, but that's probably because when I played FO3 I made a balanced build that wasn't really good at one thing. This time I'm concentrating on pure firepower so that's making questing a bit more fun to tackle.

I was considering doing Hardcore mode but...ammo counted as a part of weight is more than a bit overkill for me. Hardcore mode sounds plain silly and I'm a masochist when it comes to games.

I just signed up for gamefly so I could play Shadows of the Damned. I don't have the money to shell out the full 60 bucks. Anyone know if gamefly lets you rent games out on day one? A guy on SA said to have the new game you want the only game in your queue, otherwise gamefly will place priority in the older games. Any truth in that?

If a game gets released on Tuesday, gamefly will usually ship on Monday, so yes you can get games right when they are released if you have an open slot. But even if you have nothing in your queue besides the game you want, you still might not get it. You just need to get lucky.

I haven't gotten a brand new game on release since Dead Space 2 I think.

I always assumed they never went on sale. Does that happen pretty often?

There haven't been too many sales lately, but it does happen every now and then. Sometimes you can even get them for $5+ off.

Playing through Fracture at the moment in anticipation for the developer's next game, FEAR 3. You can clearly see that the burrowing underground rocket from Gears 3 is inspired by one of the weapons in this.

Game has a few neat ideas but suffers from generally poor execution. You can raise and lower terrain to make cover or reach inaccessible areas. A few weapons also affect the environment. One of them fires a magnet effect anywhere in the scenery that drags enemies and rubble into each other. Apart from the standard assault, shotgun and rifle types most of the weapons have some effect on the terrain or exist to blown stuff up. Problem is, you can only carry two weapons at once, and you'd wanna carry a standard rifle type to pick off the waves of standard enemies, which relegates the cool weapons for use in special situations.

Game is at it's best when blowing stuff up left and centre, throwing grenades and using unique weapons to deform terrain and scenery, generally jumping around and just going kamikaze while weirdly, one of the Star Wars tracks plays in the background (this being a Lucasarts game). I'm playing on normal and the game is quite challenging, but not in a good way. Because your mostly fighting in open terrain, enemies come from everywhere and its easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated. I can see this being a lot more fun on easy mode.

I wouldn't recommend it, I wouldn't call it a bad game either. Some neat mechanics that never really gel, though it's enough to keep me playing.

Also its a frustrating game because it's one of those where you get shot from every angle and feel like you're not given the necessary tools to combat those situations. This would only amplify on the harder difficulties, so I imagine it wouldn't be a fun experience all to 1000.

It's one where I'd say play it once on the easier difficulties just to experience the unique sandbox type gameplay and weapons.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand done! Vesperia Master, thanks you for playing

that has to be the most time consuming 1000/1000 i have got so far, synthethizing everything was kind of fun but having to replay the game twice was lame, actualy twice and a third when you consider one of the achievement ask you to defeat the first major story boss at low level and you can't reach him at low level without buying the 1/2 XP grade option but at the same time you need the 10x XP grade option if you want the level 200 achievement

i'm gonna snag myself a pic later... any other borean can claim to have 1000/1000 the game?

Started playing Fallout New Vegas again and I'm already hooked. There's a lot of great mods out there and I've gotten most of them [except I chickened out on the nude mod and went with the prudish non-nude female body replacer instead]. There's a mod that adds in a lot of new locations to venture into, as well as another that adds in some stronger enemies that you can collect a bounty on. And a texture replacer that livens things up a bit. Good stuff.

Edit: After I beat New Vegas last year, I pretty much swore off the two Bethesda-produced games all together. I really loved them, but the format was starting to wear thin after 100+ hours [and double that for Oblivion and another 100+ for Morrowind] and I intended not to play them ever again. I don't know what happened. The past two days I've already put more than three hours into a new character and spent another few hours downloading mods. :lol

Zone Zeus in Wipeout is some bullshit. I hate having to replay the first 40 zones because they're so slow and easy. Zone 60+ is when I start losing control and smashing into the walls, so I always die right before hitting 75 for the trophy.

I think I had an easier time with Zico and the Phantom Elite races. :maf

edit: Finally got it; I made it to zone 80 before blowing up. Now I just need to clean up some easy trophies and then boost some online ones and I'll have the platinum. woo.

Think I'll try to slowly make my way through Witcher 2 in the evenings after work, then take a break from console gaming for a bit til I get my house-stuff in order.

I played Enslaved earlier this year. There were some really stupid spots in the game, but it was mostly enjoyable.

Also finally gave the Enslaved demo a try. Game had a very strange and goofy vibe, kinda "kusoge" in a way almost... wasn't crazy about the auto-platforming but I'm gonna go see if I can get a copy for cheap.

I played the demo few days ago. ATROCIOUS framerate, like sub 20 fps. Didn't look that good either... the only good looking part was the long room with all the ready to battle droids hanging from the ceiling.

Shit demo, probably shit game.

Characters look like straight from Heavenly Sword. Ninja Theory can't be original for shit.

PS3 version was confirmed vastly inferior to 360... sorry. Enjoy your shitty games.

Played some Akai Katana for the first time in a week or two. Took a little while to get used to it again, but I beat my old score by quite a bit. Got 363m in Zetsu, which was good enough for #15 on the overall leaderboard. I fucked up horribly toward the end, so I could definitely hit 450+ on a good run. That should be good enough for a top 10 spot.

Too bad the #1 guy still shits on everyone from a great height. Everyone else is just battling for second place. :(

I played on 360 and this was the first Ninja Theory game I played (aside from a bit of Heavenly Sword at E3 06). The framerate and the camera were horrible, the auto-platforming and dial-a-combo battle system seem like they'd get really boring really fast, but damn if there was something enjoyable about the game - probably how offbeat it was. The lead character's animation, the strange western-take-on-Chinese-mythology storyline, the crazy setpiece effects in the game... I also thought the graphics/art were pretty well-done and certainly unique, great use of a non-traditional color palette.

Yes tiesto, that is dead on. It's worth playing if you like the art, characters, story, presentation, etc. but the actual game is extreeeemely simplistic. It's like the poster boy for Hollywood gaming.

I enjoyed it as a rental.
