Magus, I wrote this for bebpo to get more enjoyment out of SR2 but I'll repost it for you!  :)

Tip 1: freefall without damage. Jack a copter, if you've already got your base set up it'll have a helipad on top. You can jack a copter at the airport. The airport is here on the lower left part of the map right at the bottom. See that big building?

(Image removed from quote.)

Go there and you're bound to find a flyable vehicle. If not, try the police station helipad.

Get in your helicopter, fly to your hideout and put it in your garage. In Saints Row, you keep every vehicle that enters your garage. If your vehicle is destroyed it just respawns in your garage good as new. If you alter it at the car shop, it's automatically saved. This way, in case you fail this diversion, you will be able to do this repeatedly without having to go find ANOTHER plane or copter.

Anyways, get a copter out of your garage, fly as HIGH UP AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN, bail out and you'll be in a free fall. Press triangle to open your parachute, and when prompted press triangle to do the base jumping diversion. The goal of this is to land in the red bullseye marked on your map. Holding up while in the chute makes you catch wind. Pressing down makes you stall and go slower. Not holding anything makes you go and normal speed and allows you to turn around and position yourself easily.

Land on the Saints car that's parked in the bullseye. The trick is to look at your stars for doing this trick. In order to get no damage, you have to have three golden stars  while landing in the bullseye. Do that and you get no damage from freefall at any height. Useful because you will fall A LOT in SR2.

Tip #2. Next do the insurance fraud activity in Redlight District. You start out at the Redlight District and the insurance fraud one isn't too far away. Finish all 6 levels of insurance fraud at this location and you get INFINITE SPRINT. It doesn't break the game like you would assume but it makes things ten times less annoying.

Tip #3. You want to do whacky and crazy stuff? Let's start you out at Let's Pretend. For some reason Volition opted to hide Let's Pretend in a weird to find mall location. In order to get to the mall, go to the north island and then the Downtown retail area. There's a section called Nob Hill. See that white square thing on the map? THAT'S the mall. This location is just a block away from the Downtown Condo.

Find the entrance to the mall. You take an elevator up into the Ultor Retail Mall.

Find the shop Let's Pretend. There's another good shop too called I Hate Myself for people want to dress up as a depressed emo.

At Let's Pretend you can find doozies such as this:

rep0Pq3l9aU

Go to other stores located on the map to see what works for you.

This yt should show you how to get to Let's Pretend:

Tip #4. Which gang do you start out with? It doesn't really matter, but most think Samedi -> Ronin -> Brotherhood is the best in regards to narrative and story, and I agree, but Brotherhood is the best one and also the HARDEST gang so I suggest going with them first. When you beat Brotherhood you get their fighting style, which are nothing but wrestling moves.

Coupled with infinite sprnit, no damage from falling, endless customization options from all the shops and wrestling moves in your repertoire you should find Saints Row 2 to be  a pretty fucking crazy game. The only difference is that you have to WORK to make the crazy in SR2, SR3 this isn't really the case.

Stuck in a place with my weak laptop. Been playing Plants versus Zombies and Bejewelled 3. Both of which are more fun than 95% of so called "hardcore" titles. Call me a casual because I prefer games of this quality.

I thought PvZ was fun for a little while, but it's just way too easy. It felt like it was missing the second half of the game or something. That's kinda odd since it's usually pretty hard to do well on Popcap's games.

I like puzzle gamse, but tower defense is fun for about 20 mins and then gets boring because it's just the same thing over and over.  Stack your defenses, sit and do nothing and manage things when they get out of order.  It's too passive of gameplay experience.  I need to feel like I'm doing more things like rotating gems.

The space portion is the only part that is actually good. All the others fell way too simplistic and truncated.

use satchel charges for level 4 mayhem and up.

i'm surprised you dislike the gangster motif, because it apes game gangsta cliches. none of the gangs are cliche and they're all pretty interesting and fun. the main character sells it you play as a maniacal sociopath who just wants to own the city. it's refreshing to play the actual legitimate bad guy who just wants to fuck everything. if you want non-cliche gang stuff do brotherhood missions. they're fucking hilarious and over the top.

sure, they're gangsters, but they do it with so much style and pomp. Sons of Samedi's gang is full of dudes that practice voodoo. In the introduction to the ronin, the gang leader opens his beer with his samurai sword. it's that personality and charm that make saints row more interesting and fun than  your standard gangsta themed game.

next week I'll be busy with dynasty warriors gundam 3 but saints row 2 is my go to "i'm bored" game, so sure.

btw, in order to co-op cheevos, we have to start a new game with a new character. so let's get ourselves a route to make going through co-op as smooth and fun as possible. My solution: infinite assault rifles and infinite pistols off the bat.

every sandbox game i can think of that is not just cause 2 or prototype has gangster in it

like there is no fantasy or futuristic sandbox game where you go over the world and visit a cake city,or a city where everybody is an animal and stuff like that,it's always someone copying (or heck directly making the game about) some big american city

and besides i really can't stand the vulgarity of it,everytime i see my character kick someone in the nuts i slap myself in the forehead and think "why this game has to be so stupid?"

I'm not understanding what's wrong with kicking someone in the nuts? Why is blowing people up while being on fire good, kicking them in the nuts bad?

While it's true that last generation most if not all sandbox games had gangsters, that's not the case this generation. THis generation there has been one GTA game, there's Saints Row 1-3. Just about every other sandbox game worth playing this generation isn't about gangsters at all. Infamous? You play as a dude who shoots electricity out of his hands, and is the result of a nuclear experiment. Crackdown? You play as a cop who can get the ability to jump 100 feet in the air. Red Dead Redemption? You play as an every man in the wild west. Prototype, Just Cause, Red Faction Guerilla, you're not playing as gangsters in those either.

And even then, like anything, it depends on execution. GTA4's take on gangsters is a more "serious" more "realistic" approach. Saints Row makes a mockery of the gang lifestyle while at the same time idolizing it.

In other words, you don't know what you're talking about lol

You thinking of Sceneman? 'Cos that's exactly what happened during our run. I'd read that tracking the co-op Activities was easiest if you started a new game. We played through all of them together, every single one. My new game character got the Achievement, while Sceneman's did not. There was much gnashing of teeth.

Not every piece of entertainment needs to be sophisticated. The beauty of Saints Row 2 is that it's a clever game that acts stupid and not a stupid game attempting to be clever. Different pieces of entertainment have different uses. The hypocrisy of labeling setting people on fire or committing grand acts of arson as fun but ddt-ing a dude into the pavement after kicking him in the nuts as "stupid" is pretty hilarious. If you're looking for more sophisticated gaming, I'd definitely say you're mistaken in whatever pretenses you have about this hobby. To be honest, I think Saints Row should be praised for having the balls to be daring and fun enough to go against the current status quo of serious Hollywood gaming by subverting cliches and tropes and placing an emphasis on fun above all else, even if it means driving a car into a gas station pump, flying 500 feet in the air as a result and base jumping out of the said car while 80's classics like Out of Touch plays.

I finally put some time into samurai warriors 3 and I'm kinda not digging it solely because of the perspective.  The mechanics are good and I guess the levels are ok, but having the camera where it is obscures much of the surroundings.  I'd prefer it if it was done in the top down perspective.

Been neglecting Geometry Wars Galaxies for years and put a few hours in yesterday.  Easily one of the best but overlooked games of the generation.  Much like other "galaxy" games there are new gimmicks and interesting spawn patterns in the multitude of stages.  I just discovered a stage where shapes replicate like bacteria and you have to weigh the benefit of letting the culture get large enough to score big or clear it out to give yourself soace to maneuver away from those damn pink squares >:(

Himuro just needs to play Sora no Kiseki/Trials of the Sky.  There's no other answer for his suikoden-loving brain.

Since it has a psn release I'll withhold until Vita comes out and play it when I get a Vita.

Wait... the game is actually called Dark of the Moon? I saw that on Gamefly and thought it was a typo. That doesn't even make sense. :lol

What are you talking about? I'm pretty open.
You were incredibly closed minded when hearing about Red Dead Redemption, didn't believe a word any of us were saying, and then you tried it and finally realized we were right all along.

every sandbox game i can think of that is not just cause 2 or prototype has gangster in it

Become more familiar with the genre. Or think harder.

These are ones I've played, which have "no gangsta":
 • inFamous 1 & 2
 • Crackdown 1 & 2
 • BULLY
 • Banjo & Kazooie N&B
 • Red Dead Redemption
 • Red Faction: Guerrilla
 • Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, and Naruto: Broken... Blade?

These are ones I've not played, but I believe are OWG:
 • Naughty Bear
 • Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (or Betrayal, or Intrigue or something)

There's also Assassin's Creed, Dead Rising, Mercenaries, Destroy All Humans, The Saboteur, Gun, LA Noire, Prince of Persia [2008], Call of Jaurez, and The Incredible Hulk.

Not counting hybrid games like Fuel, Test Drive Unlimited, STALKER, Burnout Paradise, Oblivion/Fallout 3, Deadly Premonition, Fable, Far Cry 2, and so on.
Crap, crap, crap! I can't believe I forgot all of those, because I've played most of them! :lol @ myself

-- I will admit, I consciously eschewed open-world RACE games, like Burnout Paradise, Midnight Club Los Angeles, and TDU.

i didn't think magoose would like it, but give him credit - at least he tried it

that's more than himuchan will do if he thoroughly dislikes the premise of a game

but i'm liking the game! i just can't stand the setting

Quote
The beauty of Saints Row 2 is that it's a clever game that acts stupid and not a stupid game attempting to be clever.

nah, this game is made from the same cloth of gta where their concept of clever is "LOOK WE SHOWED A PENIS ON THE SCREEN!"

Quote
The hypocrisy of labeling setting people on fire or committing grand acts of arson as fun but ddt-ing a dude into the pavement after kicking him in the nuts as "stupid" is pretty hilarious.

where is the hypocrisy? one is a thing you would see on jackass and the other is a thing that you would see in a videogame... (heck i'm pretty sure that if i catch on fire and go full speed on a car in a quad,it's not the car that's going to end up worse...) you know the thing i'm playing,i see a pretty big difference

Quote
so just to make sure we're clear here, you hate gangster games because they're immature but you'd love it if there was an open world game with a cake city full of talking animals

one is stupid in the same way image macro on the internet are stupid, the other is stupid in the same way a jackass episode is stupid

see like this is still vulgar, but in spite of it's vulgarity it still manages to be funny on the absurdity he's singing opera and you are chucking giant toilet papers to shut him up

this instead is just stupid

anyway i got 3 gold stars on the base jumping activity but the ability to withstand falls didn't unlock...

EDIT: oh apparently it's because i didn't land on top of the car, that was a little frustating... the car ended up spawning below a bridge several times but in the end i got it >:(

I wasn't close-minded, just not sold that they'd be able to put it off. The fact that I even bought RDR shows I wasn't close-minded in regards to it and the only reason I bought it WAS because I believed you lot.

ShoNuff posted a video of The You Testament awhile back that was completely fucking insane so I had to give it a go.  So six months or so later here I am playing it.  At the very least i thought i could record this and make a "Let's Play" video, but I don't think I'll be able to do this much longer.  I spent a good chunk of yesterday hunkered down recording and commenting but this game is so balls out shitty that I'm banging my head against the wall for even attempting this.

Here's that video if you don't know what i'm talking about...

I just played that shitty Telltale poker game to get some hats in TF2.  I feel dirty.
