That Prince Of Persia game is awesome and imo the best visual style this gen had to offer, I can't remember why I stopped playing.
Cause its fucking boring.
Got it in one. There is a palpable sense of tension in PoP, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones. That suspense is missing in this game.
There is no control over the activation of "rewind" -- it just happens, "you can't die" is one way of looking at it, but "YOU ARE INCOMPETENT AND DYING CONSTANTLY. GOOD THING NATALIE PORTMAN IS HERE FOR YOU" is another way of looking at it. As any decent DnD dungeon master; one easy way for the players to stop enjoying the game is to constantly be saved by noteworthy, nearly-equivalent power NPCs.
Also, the player-initiated interaction between the prince and princess requires that you stop and chat, despite the fact that the princess is always right next to you, or even riding piggyback, so why do I have to cease all forward progress to watch a preset camera angle "cinematic" with useless lipsync animation and bare hand gestures.
I can tell you why: With the wall-run and jump on the same button, some focus-tester pointed out that it is weird to hear the two characters conversing regularly WHILE JUMPING TO THEIR SUPPOSED DEATH.
