It's pretty bad. I'm about 10 hours in, and I have no idea what the "goal" is of the story. I'm still waiting for my "villain" or "twist" or "logic"

sands of destruction is awfull,it has nice production value but the combat is a mess where a single level makes you go between being murdered by everything and being semi-god,the combat system doesn't make a lick of sense, you can decide between combo attack and heavy attack, but you can pull off like 5 combo attack in a row vs 1 single heavy attack, why you would ever pick the other one? apparently heavy attack can deals status effect and such but why would you bother with that when you can straightly murder your target with combo's?

i stopped on some tower because i couldn't find where i was supposed to go BECAUSE THE GAME WOULD THROW ME A RANDOM BATTLE EVERY 30 SECONDS!

it's that game i want to like because there are the basics for a good game but it's so sloppy designed that everything just goes down the drain

demi how's magna carta 2? review says that it's an awfull game but i don't trust review when it comes rpg at all yet it's kinda hard finding impressions on such a game

Just beat DOJ Black Label with Type-A Exy for the first time. Really surprised I did it too since I had a horrible stage 4, but I made up for it on stage 5 with a few really solid chains and no deaths until the boss. I didn't score too highly, and I didn't access the second loop (fucking bees where are u), so I still have lots of practice ahead of me. I think I'll aim for a 200 million first loop clear + whatever I can get out of the second loop, for now at least.

Game's flawless. :)

Just beat Axis Mundi in Catherine as well. Co-op makes Babel so easy. I blame Obelisk's poor design for making me resort to pussy mode.

Going to start my Hard run next. Then I need to beat Rapunzel and get all of the endings.

Spent way too much time dying in Demon's Souls because I didn't know which level to do next. Then I figured out that I could run past the bitch ass dragon on 1-2, smh. I managed to beat the boss and after leveling up I got killed early on in 2-1 by one of those annoying enemies that shoot fire. I like/hate this game.

I'm playing as a Knight btw. I refuse to start over.

Oh, whoops.  We were supposed to tell you the order to play the stages ^^;

It's like megaman, there's a certain way that makes things MUCH EASIER (because you get better spells and level up).  The problem is I don't remember it  :lol

I know 4-1 is one of the earlier stages you should do along with 2-1.  4-1 gets you tons of souls and 2-1 or 2-2 has the blacksmith guy.

 :maf

Did a bit of 2-1 not too long ago. Those fire lizards almost fucked me up. Is there an easier way to aim magic or the crossbow that doesn't let you zoom in? They're so useless to me right now. I have to be right next to my enemies for them to actually hit.

I have other games that I wanna finish in the next week and a half (PJ Shooter 2, Shatter, nephew brought his Wii with Sonic Colors, NSMB Wii, and Super Paper Mario), but it pisses me off when a game toys with me and I have to get my revenge unless they're impossibly difficult (also why I made Super Meat Boy my bitch).

Trying out Trauma (online version is free: http://www.traumagame.com/)

It's ok.  I like the style and idea of doing a surreal photo adventure game but it feels a bit lacking so far.  Also have no idea how to get the alternate endings to the dreams.

FINALY got maxed bond on everyone,in the meanwhile i also unlocked every seal and got 1 million fame points... so i'm only missing 3 achievements but actualy i'm only missing 1 achievement because the other 2 are going to get unlocked by unlocking that last achievement, sad thing is that the last achievement is to grind the shit out of everybody, though at least i can finaly focus only on grinding enemy officers and i don't have to worry about this bonding shit anymore

Been playing Machinarium and Limbo, plus lots of Guild Wars still.

I was not expecting the dark moments and background images in Limbo despite its color palette. The puzzles are pretty good, some are challenging. The water segment made me go through it quite a few times to get it all right.

have some free time but not enough to start a full game, so I've been catching up on some demos

Catherine:  pretty cool
Driver SF:  would be great if the driving model was better.  too sloppy.  but coma transporting is like the matrix reload highway chase
Final Fantasy Type-0 / Agito:  pretty fun.  really bad camera.  hopefully this is one of those PS3 or Vita rereleases
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet:  seems fun.  can't really gauge much from the demo.  same with From Dust.

Coma shifting is hilarious.  I coma shifted into a VW Beetle driver and this girl is talking as if I'm her mom...and then I collided head on into a cop car.  Oh, and the character you play is a cop.

I didn't even know the Driver SF demo is out. Thanks for the heads-up.

There are a lot of prerendered cutscenes in the initial mission. I can only imagine those cost a bunch of money and time. Maybe not as much time as trying what Team Bondi did in LA Noire, but both seem like quite a waste of effort.

I see what you mean about the driving model. It feels like I'm fighting the controls.

Started VVVVVV yesterday. Loving it so far despite my countless deaths. I like how it's just one big map instead of having levels to play in a certain order.

Demon's Souls is still trying to give me trouble. Got kinda far into 2-2 last night, but then I got to this area with lava on the ground and a bunch of those giant bugbear enemies that take forever to kill so I turned back.

Before that, I made some headway into 4-2. Then I saw 2 of those golden enemies blocking my path and decided that I wasn't ready to die again while carrying 37k worth of souls, so I turned back. I think I'll just enchant my weapon and try to fight them today.

well as i said the first time,i've been liking DW7 for the same reasons i liked games like soul calibur during the psx era,i didn't care much about the actual game of punching people but i liked the different character, trying new moves, unlocking new stuff... you might say i liked the novelty of it and that was pretty much the main thing i liked about DW7

the other thing i liked is the plot,it's really well done, actualy i'm surprised this is the only romance of three kingdom game because it adapt perfectly to many rpg epic,i've complained about shu and liu bei a lot but actualy i don't think the shu part of the plot was bad,the part of the plot i really don't like is wu/jin both can be summed by

"I'LL CONQUER ALL... OH NO I'M DYING,MY COOL SON YOU TAKE MY PLACE"
"YES I'LL TAKE YOUR PLACE,OH NO I'M DYING TOO,MY LAME BROTHER YOU TAKE MY PLACE"
"DANG I'M SO LAME HOW WILL I EVER CONQUER CHINA,OH WAIT I HAVE THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY"

it just seems so stupidly positive after the game racked a quite high death count while being dramatic about it in a good way and not stupidly overdramatic *cough cough* like nier *cough cough*

the actual game is a mess, the character are sluggish as hell, there is a block button but it's basicaly pointless, and it's really hard not playing the game just spamming the same combo over and over and over while you kill the same generic generals over and over and over

at first i said the problem i had is that it's a button masher, but that's not true,i don't have a problem with button masher, the problem i have it's that it's incredibly repetitive, this is aggravated by the fact that the maps are huge but not that populated and at the same time there aren't many of them so some get repeated a lot

i heard a lot of people saying that "the point of the game is one vs many!" but most of the generic soldiers just stand there looking dumbfounded and there is no point in killing them at all,the game still ends up being one vs one,one vs three at most, the ending part of zone of the enders 2 pulls the concept waaaaaaayyyyy better

i liked the rpg element but they are really half-assed,most enemy stay at the same level of strenght while your character equipment and stat keeps improving, quite soon you just outclass everyone,i guess playing on hard make this problem less apparent but why should i do so if there is no reward for doing it and just makes the missions last even longer? maybe they should put it a spin a-la disgaea where you can make your opponent stronger or weaker at will and there is random loot to find, the optional boss might be a super version of lu bu! that would be cool! the fact that you keep switching character also means most of your stat-improving effort are wasted, that's not cool at all,

making the enemy smarter or more agile might also be a good idea, when i ended up being with critical health it was actualy a blessing because at that point i just could run on circle like an idiot while my musou bar recharged at that point i could just spam musou attack endless until the cpu forgot to block, that's incredibly lame,i shouldn't be able to do this and it's one of the reason i don't think my experience would have been much different if i played at a harder difficulty than normal

so yeah ultimately i groaned everytime i had to repeat something but i still soldiered on because i was curious to see what happened next and ultimately i wanted to finish the game (though maybe in dynasty warriors case it would be more correct that i wanted my finishing the game achievement) so it was kinda like playing a lamer version of odin sphere,i enjoyed it but i'm not sure i want to see any other "warriors" game for quite a while... if i had to pick another one the gundam one might be interessing on the basis of "FUCK YEAH I'M DOMON,SHAINING FINGAAAAA EVERYTHING"

I can chain all of stage 1 in DOJ about 25% of the time now. I get around 30m points, so I'm happy with that for now. I've never chained stage 2 from start to finish, but I think I'll be able to do that relatively soon as well. There are 2 tricky sections: the part where the first medium tank rolls out of the base that has the second bee on it, and the part that leads into the mid-boss. The mid-boss section in particular is pretty tough to chain, because you only get around 6 enemies on the right side of the screen to keep your chain active for 4-5 seconds. Gotta be really careful with it. I can only chain chunks of stages 3 and 4, and I don't think I'll be improving on them too much.As for stage 5, I feel like I can chain at least the first half of the stage, up to the section right after the mid-boss, but it's really hard to pull off and I still haven't done it. So I think 200m is pretty doable (I got 161 from a run with lots of mistakes), I just needs lots more practice and some luck.

I'm also half way done with Rapunzel in Catherine. I absolutely hate this mode. It has about 5x as many levels as it should have, so I'm just youtubing my way through each stage because I just want to be done with it.

1 or 2?

1. I'm doing the same thing I did when ME2 came out. Played the sequel a bunch then went back and played the original.

The investigation quest like in chapter 2 is really good. there's just so much going on and i love how the quests intersect with each other.

I don't like creepy old prisons or churches in videogames. 3-1 had me on edge even though the enemies were so easy. Another stage complete. I couldn't find the key to free Rydell though.

Oh yeah, I also beat 4-2 earlier. The boss on that stage is a joke with the Thief's Ring.

i liked the character and the time travel setting a lot but know that the whole game is made with a budget of 5 bucks, lot of re-used sprites in battle, lots of place that looks the same or which you travel multiple times and the game also seems to try to hide this fact by having loooooooooooooooong section where the character just never shut up

the OST is made by yoko shimomura and it's really good, probably where all 5 of the bucks ended up

Woo, finally chained all of stage 2. Got 2003 hits & 73m points or so.

So I guess on a perfect run, I'll be heading into stage 3 with 110~ million, which is a lot higher than I was expecting. Once I learn how to get some decent chains on stage 3, 200m will be nothing. :D

Witcher 2 was a much more polished game overall, looked absolutely spectacular, and had much smoother/more engaging combat, but I did miss the absolute wealth of quests and subquests in the first game.

The sequel was definitely much more polished, with amazing graphics... but it was lacking in a few key areas compared to the first game - namely, the story wasn't NEARLY as interesting (waaaaay too many politics and namedropping all these random people/places you were expected to know, to have any idea what was going on), the game didn't really have an interesting buildup to the endgame at all (the pacing was the opposite of the first game - where Witcher 1 started off real slow, it had a fantastic finish, while the sequel just peters off once you get to chapter 3). Combat in both games was pretty stupid, but I appreciate Witcher 1 giving you a crowd-control attack right from the start, instead of having to wait a few levels to unlock it. Also the first game had better music.

how is Radiant Historia? I saw people buzzing over it on gaf but their opinions on ds games aren't exactly reliable.

i liked the character and the time travel setting a lot but know that the whole game is made with a budget of 5 bucks, lot of re-used sprites in battle, lots of place that looks the same or which you travel multiple times and the game also seems to try to hide this fact by having loooooooooooooooong section where the character just never shut up

the OST is made by yoko shimomura and it's really good, probably where all 5 of the bucks ended up
Radiant is definitely good. The story can kinda wane... nothing happens, etc. But the ending is pretty filling. Sands on the other hand is all-around turd.

It's gud.

ok, cool.  about how long is it?

it, that furryrobo game, and maybe Okamiden are the last few DS games I want to pick up and play all in one go whenever I get a DSi XL.

The "The Witcher:The Witcher 2" situation is literally the same as the "Mass Effect:Mass Effect 2" situation.

I'm still not decided yet if The Witcher 2 is a better game over Mass Effect 2. They are pretty close I would say.

That's a good observation. I ultimately liked ME2/The Witcher 2 more, but there were aspects I liked of the first games that didn't carry over.

I'd say 40 max. I left my unit on, and I didnt do all the events (mostly a few misc. ones and the special boss). So between 30-40.

the good news: i was playing GORGAR and the ball bounced all over the table like crazy, hit the special and then drained 1 split second after,no more gorgar for me ever!

the bad news: fuck taxi and his special, the thing that makes me even more angry is that i'm pretty sure i got it once while going for the basic objectives >:(
