Rayman 2 is still great.  As weird as its sounds for a game ported to everything, the best version is on the Dreamcast.  Play that version if you get the chance.  Same for Soul Reaver.

The PC version is good too. Native pad support, and it looks great.

yeah, but like Soul Reaver, it's has shared assets from the PS2/N64.  Rayman 2 on Dreamcast looked a whole lot better and ran smooth.  PS2 version changes up parts of the game, but has better assets too.  3DS version seems like a busted port of the PS2 version.

magus probably has a dreamcast anyway.  that system is a pirate's wet dream.

Anyone get bored of gaming?  I can't get excited about games anymore and I can barely play them for 30 mins straight without feeling like I've had my fun and am ready to do something else.

People say there are great games coming out this fall, but I don't care about any of them.  I still haven't played most of the ones from last fall, or the fall prior.  I still haven't even opened Dead Space 2.  The last game I actually got really hyped about and like OMGOMGCOME IN THE MAIL ALREADY was probably SRWZ2-1 and before that ACE:R and FFXIII (2 of those 3 kind of sucked).  Sure if they announce PERSONA 5 or SMT4 PS3 one of these days I'll get hyped again, but for 99% of games I don't care.  They come out, I play them eventually, no big deal.  Portal 2 was like that; didn't even know when it was coming out until it came out and then wasn't in a rush to play it, didn't really care but then played it slowly over a week in 1-2 hour sessions and had a great time.

It's not like I'm one of those "I don't play no games, anymore; games are a waste of time!" grumps either.  I still really enjoy playing a good game.  Best media fun there is; I don't really watch movies either anymore, in the theater or at home.  I just can't get fanboy excited about entertainment media.  Which makes me feel like I don't get the gaf gaming forum anymore; everyone is so excited in the OTs.

Maybe I'm just in a gaming burn out session.  Need to take a break and come back and be ZOMG GAMING again.

I don't get excited for 90% of the games that get released any more either. Just a couple years ago I would be looking forward to all of the big games like Gears, Uncharted, Halo, Assassin's Creed, etc., but I don't really care about any of them now. I'm not really bored of gaming though, it's just that my tastes have changed. Now I get excited for Dark Souls, VF5FS, KOFXIII, anything from Cave, and uh, not much else!

Also I will say this- I dont play MOST of the AAA releases- I spend my time looking at the C- to B games, because to me, its the quirks that make them interesting. AAA games are so polished- and adhere to such tried and true mechanics that theyre incredibly boring to me. I want a unique experience- even if that means dealing with some things that arent quite ideal.

But maf, I wasn't gaming in excess in the first place!  :P  And I am reading a book (game of thrones) and I did go bowling just this last week!  :P  Just not getting hyped about upcoming releases anymore at all.  Announce Half-life 3 and I'll get excited for that ;)

Nah, women are women, games are games.  And it's been like this a for a looong time now.  I still like gaming, I play at least 30 mins each day of something and it's A++ fun.  It's less about not enjoying current games and more about losing the whole gaming forum "omggg new gamessssssss" excitement.  Maybe it's because the Japanese game market died and those are the kind of games I get excited about  :'(

I'm in disbelief at the slaughter that's going to happen this season. Launching all these huge titles at once... Hollywood will bump their movies to a different week or month just to give a movie a better chance of selling. Why don't game publishers?

I'm going to buy Saints Row the Third, and that's it.

I still haven't played AC Brotherhood, so while you distinguished nerd fellows are wrapping up Revelations, I'll be necro'ing the Brotherhood thread for my "Platinum Hits" copy.

Currently I have a little less access to my 360 than before, so I've been firing up the PS3, and playing PixelJunk Shooter and Eden. These games are pretty stunning for $10 downloadable stuff. Well-executed, aesthetically pleasing, and gameplay that's accessible without being dumbed down or hair-pullingly hard.

Hey, I played some pixeljunk shooter last night too :)

I started world 2 in the ice.  Kept killing myself with the magma suit :(  But it was cool and the music really stood out.  Best soundtrack I've heard in a while.  Reminds me of the Shatter soundtrack.

Grand Knight History will probably suck like most Vanillaware games.  Did you see the part where it's going to be 50+ hours long with 8 hours of content again?

Xillia might be cool; I'm not hyped but I'm going to put some time aside and play through it from start to finish.  Hopefully it's good.  I usually think Tales games look kind of shitty and don't get hyped and then I play them and the characters grow on me and the battle system gets good and I end up really liking them in the end.

+1 for games suck, but I've been singing the same tune for like three years, so don't mind me.

Haven't been playing anything but WoW since I started up again in April. I'm done trying to make myself play real games. My embarrassing /played time of embarrassing embarrassment:

spoiler (click to show/hide)

Acc has been active for five months and I work full time :lol :-\
[close]

The only excuse I have is it's on this fucking awesome private 60 server -- i.e., not that watered-down scrubfest that is live WoW. Still, I'm in the best PvP guild on the server, I've been declared the most PRO AS FUCK hunter on the server by virtually everyone I've played with/against, and I'm about a month away from rank 13, so I don't feel TOO too bad. I mean most people play as much or more than me and are still absolute trash, so that's something, right? Right?

Only current title I have any interest in at the moment is Xenoblade, and I'd probably play it if I could just, ya know, purchase it legitimately, but I'm too lazy to pirate it and probably won't pick that up anytime soon

Holy shiiiiiiit. I just beat God mode in Futari Black Label. Not only was I NOT expecting to beat it during this run, I had been playing this with the mindset that I may NEVER beat it. So I'm pretty fucking happy. :elephant

Final score: 2,858,427,405 with Reco (ranked #29). I made a few mistakes that cost me a lot of points (namely killing the stage 4 mid-boss with chain meter when I had a 30000x multiplier to cash in), but I'm still pretty happy with that score. I wanted to hit 3 billion though. :'(

I've only been playing for like 4 or 5 days well... god damn.

You play too fucking long games, Bebpo. jRPGs (especially FF13) take over 100 hours to 100%. Get a change and play Deus Ex.

A lot of american RPGs are pretty long too (aside from the Fable series)... is Deus Ex long?

Just don't bother with 100%ing RPGs, especially not shitty ones like FF13 where you have to grind oretoise for like 20 hours.

I don't mind longer games at all, as long as I pace myself. Playing for 1-2 hours instead of 10 hours straight... takes me a while to get through games but I still don't mind. I'm still playing Radiant Historia and Catherine.

Ah, yeah. Actually I do finish the XBLA stuff in 5-10 hours. And I enjoy them! I feel like I get my money's worth, have experienced something interesting and new, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. I've really enjoyed the Double Fine stuff, am now going through PixelJunk, and will probably grab From Dust soon.

Not me, but my 5 year old son has been playing Infamous. He probably has 20 hours into it. He loves to run around the city blowing shit up and "stealing" energy from the city. I told him that doing the missions would give him more powers so he has done the 1st 2 missions by himself since Monday. It's not without a little whining if something gets hard though.

I actually finish long games faster than short games.  Long games are usually addicting and are to find a stopping point, whereas short stuff is often too segmented and I can just play a "chapter" or something.  6-10 hour games probably take me about 1-2 weeks, and 30-50 hour games take me about 2-3 weeks.  I still haven't finished Old World Blues and that's probably 6-8 hours long.  Whereas I'm making good progress through Devil Survivor 2 which will be around 30 hours.

That's how I used to be, but the whole "addiction" factor to gaming is starting to wear off on me. With longer games these days I'm finding it much more likely that I'll lose interest before I ever reach the end.

Holy shit is Enslaved a polished-ass game. Maybe it's just because the last game I played was Alpha Protocol, but dag yo. Neither the combat nor the platforming are particularly awesome, but the production values alone are making this seem worth a play through. It's like a less sucky PoP 2008.

Seriously. I don't even expect to get a sequel anymore, ever. :'(

I'm sure that it will get released once they release Rallisport Challenge 3...

Played some DOJBL. Screw enemy chaining games. They take 50x longer to become decent at compared to just about any other scoring system. If you mess up a chain, you basically forfeit all of your score for the entire stage. I must've played this game for 50 hours already and I'm still bad at it. I can't even reach 200m any more ffs.

Hahahahahahaha!  :lol :-\ :'(

Bepbo, I have you on my backloggery.  You're a machine at completing games.  I don't know how you and Segata complete so many games. You put me to shame.  Just take a break.  It's fine.

I've put in 7 hours into oblivion so far and have only completed 2 quests, one of which was the tutorial.  I'm bored.
