You have to get 7 Heart Containers in a single game to unlock Maggie and 50 coins in a single game to unlock Cain. There's also another character, but it doesn't tell you how to unlock him.

Also, apparently after you beat Mom once it opens up a 4th level. Not sure if there are any more levels after that. Then you have to beat all the levels like 9 times to get the real ending.

Downloaded and bought Wizorb for XBLIG - very awesome Arkanoid-style game with some great and well-animated 8bit pixel graphics. Highly recommended, if you like Arkanoid and you want a slight twist on that formula. It was only $3 and worth every penny, so far it's one of the best games on the service.

Spent 90 minutes collecting the last few collectibles in the Just Cause world. I made it through 8/9, finishing several sub-achievements with one last sub-cheev, and the All Collectibles remaining.

While trying to figure out how to get on a roof, my character lodged halfway into a car and was frozen in the Stunt Position pose. In mid-air. I couldn't get off the car, because there was no car. I couldn't call for Extraction or a Heavy Drop (to bump me out of the pose), because I was arguably "on a car." It just couldn't be seen.

No way out of the position, I tried to load my earlier save. The game launched me into the air with 80% damage and then hurled me at the ground.

...There are some bugs.

well i finished batman,i got only 85% of the enigmist challenge because seriously fuck those teeth,so annoying to find >:(

it was okay, the first hour is really boringly standard but it gets better as more villain get introduced, the stealth section are really fun,the dialogue adds a lot to the batman experience but the actual combat feels klunky and bad... there is not a lot else to say, after you have done your first stealth sequence, you basicaly have seen almost the whole game, there isn't a lot of variety to it which is what brings the game down if you ask me

the secrets are fun to find as the game gives you enough indication to not make them frustating to find, yet they are hidden well enough that it takes some effort to find them (except the teeth, those sucks) so in the end i think i enjoyed the scavenger hunt more than the actual game... i guess i'm just weird

the final fight is also really stupid,HURR I GET TO FIGHT A BUNCH OF MOOKS LIKE I HAVE DONE FOR THE REST OF THE GAME,WAY TO GO GUYS!

i guess it's the kind of game that you enjoy more if you squee like a little girls everytime you see anything batman related

i've been in a management-thing mood recently to the point i got myself pharaoh (watching your citizen build a pyramid is hypnotic) and i've heard of this 360 game called tropico? should i check it out? playing these kind of game without a mouse seems wrong

I think my problem with it the first time through is that I tried to complete the quest chain for the first town right away and tbh that whole fight by the termite mounts is a complete bitch. This time I did some more killing, smithing, potion making, and did a better job allocating points so I was able to win that fight. Now im rocking it with ugly pants, a cool helm, a badass axe...its awesome eastern euro fun.

After picking up Atelier Totori today I can confirm that Totori (and it's upcoming sequel Meruru) look 1000x better graphically than Rorona.  Totori actually looks like a lower budget PS3/X360 title with nice cell-shaded models everywhere and ok looking environments.  Huuuge step up from Rorona which doesn't even look as good as a PS2 game.

One day I'll actually play these! (probably before Meruru since that's the one I'm most interested in)

Managed to clear all the collectibles again in original Just Cause. It was funny; I started with the one I couldn't get last night, and it popped the Achievements for both that set, and ALL collectibles, even though there were several left. Apparently it only checks to see if the other collectible Achievements were finished, then pops the final one. I went and got the rest of them, just in case there's a 100% game completion Achievement.

Beat Pixeljunk Shooter

Wow, World 3 added complexity and CHALLENGE and suddenly the game was pretty awesome!  Worlds 1/2 were kind of neat physics but the lack of challenge maybe them not the most exciting and the game was fun, but nothing amazing.  World 3 was great though, I can see why people like the series now.  Hopefully Pixeljunk Shooter 2 is good and challenging like World 3.

Working my way through my currently playing list and trying to clear some room before DARK SOULS next week.  What I still need to finish:
NFS Hot Pursuit - Need to finish Racer career, really close.
Devil Survivor 2 - I'm pretty close to endgame but the game is insanely difficult and makes me not want to play it very often
Shadow of the Colossus HD - Only played a little to check it out, but I'll probably marathon the whole game in a day when I sit down with it

If I can clear those three before Dark Souls I'll be pretty good to go!  Then I need to get back to The Witcher and finish it.  I was at Chapter 4 when I put it aside a few months ago.

Been replaying Psychonauts on PC, courtesy of EB's own MAF. I don't think I've played it at all in at least three or four years, but it holds up really, really well. Once great, always great. It's a real shame that it sold like packaged dog feces, ensuring that it'll never get a sequel. But, Psychonauts is still Psychnauts, with its snappy writing and inspired levels.

Original Just Cause just reached the "too buggy to complete" stage for me. "Dismissed Without Honors" is resulting in a buggy countdown, which gives me 20 seconds instead of a couple minutes to reach a target destination. Apparently it's a common bug, as I learned while reading walkthroughs and watching the youtubes to see what I was doing wrong.

Then there's the Guzman military base, on which I've tried the takeover a dozen times, only to die from blast damage from tanks which have fast reload time, essentially rapid firing shells near where I am. That's not a bug, but it's cheap as hell.

I don't mind tough missions; the last level in GTA3 was pretty rough (for me!), and I played it 20 times, each run getting a little closer to the end. That wasn't a bug and it wasn't cheap, and even fractional progress still felt like progress. Trying a mission a bunch of times, not being able to tell what I've done wrong, only to read that it's a common bug... it diminishes my enthusiasm.

I'll give each one a few more tries, but I'm losing my patience, big time. May be time to move onto something in the last 5 years.

As if the game were listening in on my thoughts, despite having a nearly identical buggy play-through more than ten times, I gave the mission another try, and it let me get 40 seconds in, THEN ended the mission. The time AFTER that, it worked.

I neglected to mention in the first post that the game also failed to have aiming lock during two runs, so that made it even more annoying.

Not bailing for now, but wow that was annoying.

NIER - 360

Pretty cool game. Just finished "Part 1"

Solatorobo - DS

CyberConnect are great devs, cause even this DS game looks nice. I like the "cutscenes"

Lunar Silver Star - PSP

Game sucks

No More Heroes - PS3

Got this back from GF after sending it back... still a good port. The NMH2 bosses are just thrown in the side, not part of the story.

Wow.  Activision must have been pissed to see Beenox survive making a Spider-Man game to try this hard to hide the new one.  I'll buy it when the eventual PC release they don't admit exists eventually is revealed, exclusive to Target or Walmart or whatever.  And no Griptonite Metroid-style game on the DS is lame.

I really liked Brütal Legend, but Psychonauts was a better game. Except for the last level with the trapeze -- which they've apparently finally fixed!

Man, Valkyria Chronicles epitomizes the fluffy animu cutscene bullshit. I can't see how VC2 is worse but people say it is. I really don't care that the local pig got a medal for showing the militia an alternative route through the woods. Holy fuck. Just got done playing about an hour of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance VR missions. It's really a shame that Kojima decided to focus more on telling a story through his games instead of developing upon what is probably the greatest stealth action gameplay ever invented. Playing stages actually designed for you to utilize the game mechanics to their full extent really exhibits how many different tricks there are to help you Snake it up in MGS2, though there are still some issues I have (lock-on with Square, first person with R1, then double-tap Square to shoot).

MGS4 added much needed control improvements and mobility to the mix but the game rarely presented you with opportunities to use them. It's as if the list of maneuvers the player has was not considered when designing the levels. If only that game had VR missions, man.

VC is only good if you skip all the cutscenes.  I haaaaaated the cutscenes and wanted to punch all the characters.

Gameplay is pretty good but too slow waiting for enemy turns; VC2/3 fix that.

I have to agree. The amount of content, the graphics/performance ratio, the gameplay refinements. I sold off a lot of my PS2 games, including MGS3S after hearing about the HD collection, but I'm always keeping my PS2 copy of MGS2S. Always.

MGS3 is probably the best all around Metal Gear in terms of content, but it's a really slow game. The alert and evasion countdowns are agony. I prefer my Metal Gear Pacman style. Hard and Extreme modes don't have radar anyways.

MGS2:S however, is best of both worlds. You have gameplay with fast paced action, lots of things to do and unequaled gameplay refinement.

Can't wait to make soldiers shake their boots for dogtags this fall. It's been too long.  :'(

In MGS2, it's a little like Super Meat Boy, finding that one perfect run. I like that MGS3 took the same formula and allowed it to be a little more emergent, but the menu hunting really bogs things down. Curious to see how that'll play in the HD versions.

that 1:47 min run is orgasmic.  god i wish mgs was good again so i could waste my life replaying the shit of them.  THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE STEALTH, DEVELOPERS - clear rules & boundaries so it's more like a puzzle and less like fumbling around like a dipshit.  both you guys should try the new deus ex.  it's not as god-tier as mgs 2 or 3 but it's still a fun as fuck stealth game that takes me back to the good ol days.
