gave a try to legasista,i made it to the 5th dungeon and then the game froze on me,last time i saved was just right after the tutorial :derp

anyway it's eeeeeeeeehhhhhhh,i appreciate all of the removal of bullshit from cladun like that stupid magic circle system and the introduction of things like a plot but otherwise it's the same game which in itself is a pretty dry & cut dungeon crawling experience,i'm not really sure i want to bother

Really liking Dust: An Elysian Tale so far. I thought the bunny people and navi would annoy me more but they end up feeling just very videogamey in a fitting way.

Playing Sly 4 (vita version...technical shortcomings abound) and it's better than I expected, or was led to believe.  It's very safe and samey but also does smart things to cutdown on the bad parts of past games.  Balance of time spent playing as Sly (or a character that's effectively Sly) instead of his shitty friends is good.  The sections where you must play as other characters are short and less annoying than in past games (hacking isn't as boring as it was in Sly 2).  And the cartoon cutscenes are surprisingly expressive and charming; I wish the game's look was based around it instead of the strange direction they went with.

Dodonpachi SaiDouJou - Picked this up because it was region free (my launch J360 died after Akai Katana; not gonna replace it; only like 5 J-exclusive games in my library) and I do love me some Cave shmups.  Hadn't turned on my X360 in about two years so went through a bunch of updates but at least they were quick unlike PS3.  As to the game itself...not knowing how any of the scoring systems work yet...it seems ok.  Seems like more of the same that was Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu which I wasn't a huge fan of despite buying it like 3 times across systems.  Will check out how the scoring works this weekend and get into the meat of it.  The new X360 mode adds two lolis on each side of the screen who have a conversation back and forth FOR THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE GAME.  It's like you're a ship blowing up giant helicopters while dodging a million bullets and of course what you always wanted was two animu girls talking about dropping ice cream on their panties on the way to work.  Japan :\  Shmup genre :\

SMTIV - Was gonna wait until I got further to comment (~10 hours in now), but it's good.  Has some pros/cons for sure.  Physical special attacks now cost MP like elemental skills instead of HP which I STRONGLY DISLIKE because the whole point is that physical fighters don't have much MP!  So it seems like they basically nerfed physical.  I'm going with a min/mix magic + speed build.  Why speed?  I don't really know but I figure I might as well pump two stats and physical/gun aren't things I'm going for and luck it says is just for crits and you only get crits with physical or gun, so strong magic + good hit % & dodge % sounds good to me.  In Nocturne I went pure melee but in the Devil Survivor games I went pure magic and found them super easy so sticking with that.

Other stuff, well the music is awesome.  GJ not-Meguro guy!  Very Nocturne-sounding.  Super dark, lots of beats and noise and scary music.  Story is interesting.  Having not played SMTI&II but knowing a little about them, I feel like SMTIII was some strange outlier for the series and SMTIV is basically the direct continuation of mainline SMT if SMTIII never existed and 20 years of gameplay advances had occurred.  Some of the new systems and stuff make the game easier, but they counter that by making it full of TONS O' BULLSHIT.  If it was any other game series I'd harp on the devs for putting some shitty cheapass design in some parts already, but it's SMT so I'll give it a pass.  I always find the first 1/3rd of Megaten games the toughest since you're most limited in your party build options.  World map is nice to have again.  The dungeon/area layouts are great mazes.  Cities are good.  Environment art design is great for low-tech 3DS 3D.  A Nocturne cell-shaded style would have probably worked a lot better with the weak 3DS hardware, but it still looks pretty good.  2d art is ALL OVER THE FREAKING PLACE.  Man, when you guys hit Medusa...holy shit.  I'm not sure how some of these pieces made it into the game unless the artist dudes blackmailed people.  Otoh there's still a lot of good old Kaneko art demons and some of the new character designs actually work.  The visual presentation is really slick too.

Overall pretty happy with it so far.

finaly won the video mode on attack from mars and got the wizard... i'm kinda running out of steam as all that remains are the wizard's that are REALLY REALLY annoying! i really hate the star trek table in particular, most of the time i shoot the right ramp and then the ball bounce straight on the left drain and it's so infuriating

atelier totori

i got to year 4 so the plot finaly made some progress! yay! maybe i'll finaly finish the game

black knight sword

i saw a video where you fight a giant chicken and told myself "yup,i want to play that" it's an okay game but frankly if it wasn't for the super weird presentation there wouldn't be a single reason to give a fuck,i got to the end of stage 2 and i just can't seems to defeat the boss

Well, its really a glorified DLC pack but its a BIG DLC pack, and I love Dead Rising so much its great to go back to Fortune City and shoot for a whole new 1000/1000.

I don't consider it a DLC pack. Considering it has a whole new story line, new bosses, weapons... etc.

Even the final boss is entirely different.

yeah there is a sizable amount of new content in DR2:OTR for sure:

- remixed story with new missions and dialogue
- new survivors and scoops
- photography is back, new collectibles - PP stickers
- the DLC outfits from DR2 which grant special abilities are unlockable in OTR
- new old moves, Frank's badass moves from DR1 are back (Knee Drop :bow)
- new area with new items and shit to do
- sweet ass clown car with farting butt
- 10 or so new combo weapons
- whole new sandbox mode with tons of challenges
- 50 NEW ACHIEVEMENTS

really looking forward to getting into some co-op with Chronovore :rock

i'm here to defend the honor of my tsundere marvel waifu

If anything, all those re-hashed fighting games are DLC packs. "Ultimate" marvel vs capcom 3 - now featuring 3 new characters

12 characters, which is an extra 1/3rd of a cast.

Ultimate was definitely DLC.  Everyone called them on it, and the bad will from it essentially killed sales of MvC3 and poisoned the sales potential of Ultimate.

Totally wrong:

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/jan/12/sven-ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-current-sales-are-now-satisfactory-continues-sell-actively/

and just cause people "called them" on it, doesn't mean it wasn't stupid to call them on it.  All that stuff was DLC, you're right.  So, 12 characters at $5 a piece would've been $60 + the $60 base MVC3.   The game was $40 with those characters, revamped online, some new stages, and that whole single player offline card game thing Heroes and Heralds.  and we didn't have to wait for all that shit to trickle it out, which is nice, because artificial DLC release schedules are always the extra kick in the nuts to companies chopping out a part of the game to begin with.

In this case, calling them was almost a pavlovian response to hearing about a Capcom game upgrade.

I know it's bad from a psychological point of view.  I'm just saying people are stupid :lol

Done with Alundra. That last dungeon... Still torn on this. It's probably the best 2D Zelda I've played, but I still like LttP more if only because it doesn't reach for the jumping puzzles of a polygonal game. There's one part in particular (similar to disappearing platforms in Mega Man games) that was really fucking annoying in this regard...
I never played Landstalker. Did the tilted perspective work better for jumping puzzles?

Wait, that's polygonal...

The spiritual successor on the PS is 2D, the one on the Saturn is polygonal? Judging by Youtube videos it doesn't let you rotate the camera, not even in increments? Never mind that, saw another video. Still funny how thinks worked out.

, but this one was so bananas in how it culminated that it wormed its way into my heart. The last screen especially is just - what? :lol The puzzles were OK for the most part, if a bit easy and sometimes tedious, but at least it was always clear what the problem was and I never had to pixel hunt either, which adventure games still fuck up to this day for some reason. I had to bust out pen and paper to take notes for a few, but that may also be because I don't have the working memory or didn't see the easy solution, not sure. For a portable game that isn't ideal, but I didn't play this at home, so it didn't matter.

Now I want to play VLR, but I'm not going to buy a Vita, ever, so I'm probably just going to watch Supergreatfriend's stream (dude makes good LPs) when he gets around to it.

Mostly that enemies are sponges and show no reaction to getting hit. I'm finding myself getting juggled, the dodge doesn't seem to be as effective. The laziness that is "elemental weapons", and I have to rely on cheap invincible frames (mostly throwing enemies around).

I honestly don't know why this game exists. Kratos just grunts and grunts, even at the most unnecessary times. It's kind of like a parody.

And just to satisfy you, I am playing on Hard.

Enemy flinching is pretty unreliable, you can't juggle most enemies. Most combat involves getting in quick strikes and parrying or dodging. Not very fancy, but it feels solid to me. Grab spamming works early on but later enemies are immune until you break their armor. Elemental weapons don't add a lot to the game, but they can be useful in certain fights. I'd give it a 7/10.

Dodge has iframes, but I always found the right analog control to be kind of clunky.

If you're not enjoying yourself on hard you could try the other difficulties.

I'm not having a huge issue with the game. I made it to the Delphi temple (shortly after beating the manticore boss). But these are just really big annoyances. For comparison GOW3 was pretty easy on Titan. Maybe they got pissed at people saying the games were easy and now getting revenge.

finished my full story playthrough of Dead Rising Off the Record.

Wow, they really mixed shit up in the last couple of hours of play, a lot of crazy stuff I wasn't expecting! Awesome game!

Gonna take a break from DR and play some more Sonic Kart Transformed, then I'll go for the tricky cheevs (dont consume meat/dairy/booze and keep the first survivor with you for the first 72 hours)

demi did you have any trouble with the dont consume meat/dairy/alcohol one? I read it can be glitchy and having a sandbox save can mess it up...

It's like Vindictus where every boss has super armor and you have to land precise hits then dodge or use iframes to stay alive. Just a certain style of action gaming that not everyone likes.

There are some ways to make Ascension easier, though. Spamming magic can kill just about anything, and the giant mace secondary weapon is pretty OP against armored Satyrs that you can't grab spam. The hades weapon LLR long distance hand slap is really useful as well.

Interesting. I remember Eternal Ring getting slaughtered by reviews when the PS2 launched. I didn't know it was a Kings Field type. Gonna get that after I return The Ancient City.

I would replay Amnesia with Rift support.  Horror games like that are one of the main reasons I'd buy the Rift; seems like they'd be even MORE freaky if you were in the dark and really looking around as you went.
