Guys fast Demon's Souls question:

the Demon's Souls you get after killing bosses (for example Doll Soul, Spider Soul) can be used to create new spells or upgrade your equipment. Question: is one single Demon Soul useable only for 1 type of "item" for example Doll Soul --> that Soul Spell or can it be used either for a new spell or as an upgrade to same late game weapon and the choice is up to the player where to spend it?

Also I noticed you deal less magical damage when in body form, nice little touch.
Each soul can only be used once. You have choose what you want to use it for. When you beat the game you can start over in newgame+ and then you can get the other items/spells. Unless you cheat or swap items online, you need to beat the game 3.5 times (IIRC) to get the platinum trophy.

It took me 45 hours to beat it the first time. Now I can probably do it in 5 and I was never into speedrunning games. There was a Japanese dude who beat it in an hour a few years ago.

ehy ferrari i have a weird bug with twilight zone... everytime i end a game, the next game i try to start the game ends immediately and give me a score of 0,then when i try to start another game again it starts a 2P game instead, sometimes the whole game lock up! it's incredibly annoying especialy since it ends up resetting the powerball position making the double jackpot goal harder... do you have any problem of the sort? i searched around and while i found a few mention of the bugs nothing about if they solved it or what else

I worked way too many hours today. As promised, here is some Demon's Souls fan art.

The rest I have is either incomplete sketches or just not that good.

anyone else have issues running witcher 2 at 720p? i like to crank up the effects in my games to max but on newer games i gotta settle for 720 instead of 1080 for playable framerates. usually it aint a problem but for some reason this game looks like complete ass when i do that. i put on everything except ubersampling to max but when i load up a game it seriously looks like a 360 games. tons of dithering, washed out textures, and a shitload of jaggies even tho i got AA on. i guess its something with however they programmed the game but its weird and disappointing.

Disney Infinity. Or, rather, my son and niece are playing it, and I can't access the 360 any longer.

Dishwasher, still trying to break 100M in Arcade mode. Finally opened up the TA.com suggested level for it. Gonna have to give it a try tomorrow and Sunday, as I am leaving this game behind for-EVAR on Monday morning.

2) I can finally buy Darkmoonstones for the Crescent Falchion +2/+3/+4/+5 :hyper
Every item, except some of the starter gear, can be looted off enemies. If you don't want to spend your souls on buying stones you could try to find the enemy that drops them.

4) QUESTION: it seems I cannot buy any more miracles cause the miracle selling guy disappeared from the Nexus. Will I be able to buy them again later on?

He was likely murdered by Yurt and in that case he won't show up until you reach newgame+.

This game owns my heart, mind and soul. Cannot stop playing it and cannot stop thinking about it when I am not playing it. I am *seriously* considering buying PS+ only for the cloud save upload functionality because I C A N N O T lose this save file.
PS+ is awesome and definitely worth the money if you have enough time to play some of the freebies. This month I'm getting four games I was considering buying plus Assassin's Creed 3.

Onimusha - Dawn of Dreams
I don't remember the other games having this many shit angles. I'm constantly getting hit off-screen, regularly can't see shit I'm doing and you practically have to hold down the lock-on all the time, but you can't change it to be a toggle instead. Doesn't help that I'm trying to Issen (counterattack) my way through everything, but still...
And they recycled so much shit for this one. There are even environments from the third game. And I just fought a boss AGAIN. Not different form, no other abilities, the same damn fight. Wut? And the boos fights are bad in this. If you do them 'right', they are boring as shit. If you try to Issen, they are naturally really hard to pull off, so I end up hating them whatever I do.
I looked at the Dark Realm (optional combat dungeon) in this one too and it's apparently 100 levels deep. Every one of the five playable characters has their own rewards, so essentially 500 levels. No thanks... The one in two isn't even 50 levels deep, for all characters put together.
The story is also exceptionally stupid and badly told, worse than Onimusha 3's time travel trip to modern Paris with Jean Reno... They also skimped out on a lot of cutscenes, showing only a still with a bit of text describing what's supposed to be happening. Dialogue is fucking stupid and everyone takes forever to get the bad guy's plot, then they repeat it over and over because Japan.
The puzzle boxes are great though. I make a point of finding them but I won't be doing anything else optional, as I did with all the other games. The main quest is stretched thin enough as is. Onimsha 2 remains my favorite entry in the series.

Rufus, is your copy of Dawn of Dreams two discs? Maybe someone fucked up but when I bought DoD it had two discs that were, as far as I can tell, the same. (PAL version)

And yeah, the game is ass. Stretched and boring. None of the weapons have any character, none of the characters have any character, bosses have twice as many health bars as they should, enough talking heads cut-scenes to make a Visual Novel fall asleep...

All around just a shyte game.

it was one of the games that capcom usa severely cocked up working designs-style. they gave the bosses way too much health and iirc made the amount of orbs or whatever WAY down so that instead of having crazy powerful arsenal at games end you had a handle of good weapons.

someone (oscar) please tell me that whoever was in charge of fucking up all those good action games got sentenced to indefinite latrine duty afterwards.

There are shortcuts in almost every level that shortens the path to the boss down to a few minutes.

Yeah, I'm on disc 2 now, probably about to get Tenkai back. Only about five missions left I think.

And yeah, the game is ass. Stretched and boring. None of the weapons have any character, none of the characters have any character, bosses have twice as many health bars as they should, enough talking heads cut-scenes to make a Visual Novel fall asleep...
Oh god yes. The weapons are all. the. fucking. same. And there's so many of them. I keep thinking that I should save my souls until it looks like I won't get another, but I would do shit damage. Same combo, except this one is slower and has only 3 hits and this one is much faster and has 5. Ohatsu's guns have more variation between rifles, shotguns and cannons.
And yes, boss health is why I keep trying to Issen my way through them...

Aprospos cutscenes, I totally forgot about the romantic subplots. The worst of which is the pre-pubescent looking priestess apparently longing after old man Tenkai. "He doesn't notice me." From her. :kobeyuck

Yeah, you only get a decent amount of souls if you chain Issen a pack. So dumb.

Far Cry 3. I was enjoying this quite a lot, but it drags on and there are no exciting new discoveries just the same 'ol shlootin with stupid characters and loot that has no purpose. I've got all the best guns, maxxed out cash, most of the abilities and it looks like I've still got about half the game to go, but I'm done with it.

Heh, got Saint Urbain and Patches, The Hyena in the Nexus. Bought the Return to Nexus miracle and now I can grind souls like there is no tomorrow in Shrine of Storms level 2: run downstairs, jump straight next to Death, kill it in 2 hits, teleport back to Nexus. Et voilla! +5500 Souls in 1 minute.

Up to 4-4 yet? If so there's a way to get more than 3x that amount per minute. My triple's out of action at the moment, definitely going to give this a replay when I get around to buying a new one.

Struggled to make it through MGS Rising, and now I'm up to the final boss. Still don't like the game very much at all... ahhh well. Never quite grasped the parry mechanic, nor did I like the zandatsu system or the shitty camera.

Also playing Soul Hackers, up to the airport boss and grinding Magnetite. Fucking amazing game, even after getting used to some of its eccentricities (like the constantly draining magnetite, or the loyalties). Love how there's an Indian character in the game, and how someone makes a racist joke towards him  :lol

BLACK BOOK ACHIEVEMENT: done. 23:40 on the night before I leave for Japan. I KNEW it would come down to the wire, but didn't think it would be this late into the night on my last day in-country. I've never been so happy to pop an Achievement worth so little.

Fuck anyone who puts weird numbers for gamerscore values. I've got 60 GS in it now, and will never again touch this game.

Also finished Castle Crashers, but didn't get the Traditional Cheevo. Must've skipped something.

Just played some Splinter Cell: Conviction co-op with my roommate. Awesome game! I've never played a Splinter Cell before.

Gonna give the single player a crack and rack up some upgrades for co-op mode.

Roommate  :anhuld that would be scary. I enjoy conviction too, pretty casual for splinter cell but good nonetheless. Great presentation and it's good to have a game with specific co-op missions. I've seen the HD collection of the earlier splinter cells selling for like $25

edit: the collection is only on the triple. Chaos Theory is probably the only one worth playing SP anyway and its 10 dorrar on xbl

Rayman Legends

eeeeehhhhh.... it's allright, the music is cool, the graphics are really well done and super colorfull and the stage varied but it's hard to shake that "been there, done that" feeling... (especialy when you do those running level where you just push right while shit around you happens)

the world are inside painting and surprisingly you can jump between each level world at your pleasure so you aren't forced to finish a world before jumping to the next one... there are 5 of them and each one follows a theme...

- the first one is a castle and has medieval like music
- second one is a forest
- the third world is dedicated to the Dia of the muertos and has skeleton, luchadores and a general food theme... you also get turned into a chicken for some level,it's my favourite but i'm biased toward luchadores :-[
- the fourth world is an underwater world and it's spy themed, you have to dodge security lights and all of the enemies go around wearing that triple light thing of splinter cell :lol
- last world i haven't seen much but it seems greek themed and it might be a follow up to the "land of dead" level from the original rayman

there are 700 lums to find and each level holds 10 of them (some level like bosses only have 3) when you finish a level you get a ticket to scratch which unlock random stuff... some of the reward include levels from rayman origins (which too have lums) i'm not sure how many levels from the previous game there are but there is a total of 260 lums in old level so if math isn't an opinion i guess 26 of them?

the worst thing i can say about the game is that you can see it's a forced wii u port, some of the level require you to move element of the scenery around like moving platform or cutting ropes,i guess in the wii u version you would do all this with the wii u pad but in this version the cursor automaticaly move between the spot you are supposed to touch and then you interact with them by pressing circle and it's just sort of annoying and pointless

currently i have finished two worlds... the castle and the dia of the muertos one... the boss are really well done, the castle boss is a dragon that you fight as the castle explode all around you while the dia of the muertos one is a giant luchadores that you fight in an arena while skeleton cheer for the fight and the like, sadly they are done with 3D models, the 3D model are well done so it doesn't clash too much but it still feel like a step down from origins, after defeating a boss you also play a chase level that is musical themed, the dragon one for example is rock themed so you get rock riff as you jump on enemies and thing explode in rhythm for example

I got Deadpool from a friend, it's pretty good.

Takes the piss out of the industry (the whole game is about Deadpool's idea for a game, he even pitches it to High Moon)

Combat is "decent" though if it was just a little more fluid, as it is, there is a bunch of "snags" you can feel, pauses in the motions.

Also you die in like 3 hits on the hardest mode. Nasty. But it's not so bad.

Upgrades cost a LOT of points, but its easy to farm a lot of these, since you get a bunch from high combos.

The Dream Machine: Chapter 4
Still a lovely game and this chapters' dream is particularly imaginative. The episodic nature makes it a bit difficult to remember where you left of, or what puzzles in which rooms are still unsolved but it's worth it. It still might be best to just wait for all chapters (originally five, now six) to be released and play it in one go.
The only thing that annoyed me is how shitty this ran, no matter at what quality settings or resolution (windowed it's unreadable, anyway). Fuck Flash.

The Darkness II
Competent tunnel-shooter. The comic-like visuals are cool and the Darkness powers put a nice twist on things, but you can't summon minions at will any more. The one you have is alway with you, points out what to interact with to open doors, helps you during boss fights and you can inhabit him to crawl through ducts and take out a couple of guys before you open whatever locked door that needs opening. I don't know really what else to say.
Starbreeze's original was darker both figuratively and literally, as I had some problems seeing the light sources in the environment. Mike Patton, who reprises his role as the shrieking Darkness inhabiting your body would bitch at you a lot for it.

Psi-Ops
PHYSICS!
I like the level design and the psi-powers, but it would be really, really nice if they stopped spawning guys behind me. The game seemingly wants you to stealth at least at the start of each level but that always goes wrong for me, no matter what. The astral projection power that lets you see through walls and doors doesn't even help with that. Thankfully there are enough checkpoints to make it only mildly annoying. More annoying are the controls though. Maybe it's just me, but I find it difficult to reliably tele-grab guys that are near boxes, despite generous auto-aim. You also click the left stick to go into cover and that's just wrong.

Rayman Legend

uh... i think i played this for around 3 hours and i've already got to the "ending" there wasn't a final level or boss fight, you just complete the last missing world and the credit roll :what

there is another world that get unlocked upon getting 400 lums but i wonder if it's an actual level or a one shot thing like the land of the dead on the original,i'm currently at 330 so i don't think it will take long before discovering

some of the song used in the music level are actual music, one of the level has an eye of the tiger remix and another has this

Done with this. Ragequit on account of physics bullshit and a shoddy hitbox ruining a boss fight. You have to throw gas canisters at a laser. One, they're difficult to pull out of their rack and two, three out of four canisters you throw don't explode on impact as they should. About twenty tries in and I was convinced that I was doing something wrong. Looked it up and no, it's just pure jank. So fuck that game.

The enemy design is nice, the music is good.

I only played an hour though, but it's more enjoyable then lets say, Mass Effect 3 so far. But this can have to do with the fact I played so many cover shooters this gen already and ME3 is just a poor example of the genre.

Could be the vibrancy of the world as well, its nice colourful.

Edit: What is annoying as fuck though is the fact YOU CANT JUMP. Feels like Guild Wars 1.

your reward for getting 400 lums is.... a land of the dead music level, one that is super short and easy... after which you get to unlock 8bit version of other music level which are identicaly the same but now the music is chiptune and there are 8 bit effect to distract you like pixelization or the screen turning upside down or zooming or the tv flickering so you have to rely more on the music to get your jump rights after which you get nothing

Rayman Origins is pretty fucking good.

it's not a bad game and the presentation is really good but between focus on chase/run level, short playtime, forced touch screen gimmick and lack of a proper ending/final stage it's a definite step down from origins

there might be some sort of super secret hidden level, but there is no clue like any sort of collectible that hints at it... even collecting all 700 lums just unlock some character

there's some challenge thing but i can't see it because it's online only, but i seems to understand they are just a bunch of level that go for infinite?

I'm playing Steamworld Dig on the 3DS. It's basically that flash game Motherload where you dig through the earth to find resources to sell to upgrade your drill to dig further into the earth to find more resources.

Except in this you play as a robot in the old west.

it's pretty fun. You get Metroid style upgrades that let you dig deeper and there are some light platforming elements. For 10 bucks it's pretty fun.

When you were a kid you would be jacking off over such an unlockable. You jaded, belligerant little man.

Pls. change Magus' personal text to that. Kthxbye.

Psi-Ops
Done with this. Ragequit on account of physics bullshit and a shoddy hitbox ruining a boss fight. You have to throw gas canisters at a laser. One, they're difficult to pull out of their rack and two, three out of four canisters you throw don't explode on impact as they should. About twenty tries in and I was convinced that I was doing something wrong. Looked it up and no, it's just pure jank. So fuck that game.

:lol

LOLMIDWAY AMIRITE!?  I worked at Midway when this came out; trying to do quality anything at Midway was like pulling teeth from an old but ill-tempered alligator. They couldn't get behind console to save their lives. Sad to say, but as janky as PSI-OPS is, it is the best thing from that era.

The only games I can play now before GTAV drops are Modern Warfare 2, Shenmue, and GTAIV: EFLC. Everything else I can play for five minutes before getting bored. Oddly, I get the same enjoyment from Shenmue and EFLC, I just explore and chill. Good chill out games.

Second Sight is the better 2004, ESP, third-person action/stealth/shooting game.
I was actually impressed at how decent it was up until that point. Movement and combat never felt that great, but I had fun with what I played. If it had an over-the shoulder camera, with more reliable aiming, less physics jank... :leon

I played a bit of it when it was WIP, and it felt insufficiently tuned, unsurprisingly. I'd always meant to pick it up, but my feelings when leaving Midway soured me on following up on it.

Second Sight sounds like it has some pretty fantastic story, from the wikipedia article! I may have to check it out!

Once you learned how to heal yourself in Second Sight it pretty much took all the challenge out of it. It did have a excellent story and I didn't see the twist coming although that could have just been me being a dumb kid. Shame it was taken off steam.

Oh, man, it was on Steam? Now that I actually have a cheap-ass graphics card, it sounds like the kind of thing I am looking to get into! Sad.

I had a friend who was a huge fan of Psi-Ops (and The Suffering) for some reason - he kept telling me how great they were for years. I never got around to playing either of them tho.

Anyway, I started playing Rayman Legends. It seems just as good as Origins so far, but I'm only like 7 stages in or something. I actually didn't like Origins much when I first played it because I just ran through the stages, collecting whatever I could along the way. Going back and trying to get enough Lums for the gold medal and finding all of the hidden doors/coins is what made me start enjoying the game, so that's what I'm doing with Legends from the start. It's great so far, and it also looks way better than Origins imo.

Yeah, my impression of Rayman Origins was that it was easy to get through for casuals, but hard to FC for the hardcore gamer. That's an impressive balance to strike.

I want to buy Legends but, (er... um... ) I want to finish Origins first, and I left my copy in the USA. Everything they've done on that engine is just amazingly beautiful.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD

these HD collection always put me in a bad spot,at first i'm like "wow, that game was awesome! i can't wait to play it with achievements and extra stuff" then i realize the achievements they added are basicaly "go through the game again" or are just very annoying to do (there is an achievement for finishing the game with your starting equipment and another for finishing the game under 15 hours, the MGS collection has an achievement for collecting all the dog tags, who the heck tought that was a good idea?) and i've already played it to death, because it was awesome so i feel like scratching my head wondering why the heck i got excited in the first place when i could have been just replaying the original and it would be (almost) the same

i'm surprised this collection doesn't have kingdom hearts 2 in it,there is the ultimate version of the original with one new boss that wasn't present in the american release, the ps2 remake of chain of memories (which actualy had an english version but was released like... super late into the ps2 life so nobody played it) and all of the boring cutscenes from 358/2,that's right, they just put the cutscene of a crappy spinoff you shouldn't bother with for no discernable reason oh and you get trophies for watching them all, they knew it was so boring they had to give you a reward otherwise you wouldn't sit through them

maybe i should bother with the ps3 version of diablo 3 instead :heh

It might return some day if it can manage to drag itself out of whatever legal hole it fell down, or you could probably find a retail copy for dirt cheap. I recall paying £1.50 for a gamecube copy a year or so after its release. It must have bombed so hard.

It's funny that both came out around the same time.  Second Sight was probably the better game, but I had more fun with Psi-ops as a sandbox to experiment with powers.  Psi-ops was one of those games where it felt like they didn't realize what was fun about it.  I had to stop playing at a point where you were fighting bugs who were invulnerable to your abilities or something along those lines.

Just finished Steamworld Dig. Pretty darn fun game. It triggers those parts of your brain that react to upgrades and exploring real good. You are always making enough money to buy some kind of upgrade so you're always getting stronger. That feedback loop is addictive.

Enjoyed it quite a bit.

Dunno about bugs, but I saw soldiers that were armored from head to toe, dodged everything you threw at them, couldn't be set on fire or even mind-controlled. Those were indeed dumb. I never found an easy way to take them out with psi-powers, but they dropped quickly from concentrated fire to the head. I guess you're right about them not knowing what was fun about it.

Gamecube copies are 2€ on Amazon marketplace over here. I imagine it's similarly cheap in the US, but it could be a highly prized import title in Japan for all I know. :lol
