now that i have the elder scrolls anthology, i wanna play morrowind. never tried it before. any essential mods i should use? i want the game to be as close to the original as possible, so no "additional content" mods, but i see theres some fan-made bugfixing mods that i'd like to try. id also like some graphics mods, as long as they update the graphics without changing them around like that shitty half-life 2 mod did. anything else anyone recommends?

On iPhone: I'm playing a so-so RPG from Kemco called Chronus Arc.  Not bad by their standards.  I'm also playing a really repetitive 3D platformer/brawler named Clash of Puppets.  It needs checkpoints.  I'm also putting together a couple guides so I'm playing Papa Pear Saga and Pet Rescue Saga.  They suck.  Worse than Candy Crush.  Not work related: playing more Skulls of the Shogun because it's awesome.

On 3DS: Ace Attorney 5 and Wario Land.  Both are alright.

On the TV: Zelda: Skyward Sword.  I got to the part where you're having to go back into the old dungeons again and oh god you really do have to go back into the old dungeons again.  I can't believe they did that.

At least Pet Rescue Saga has awesome art!

Gravity Rush has probably the worst controls I've played in the past 5 years. What a clusterfuck.
I've thought that every time I've played the demo. The game seems to control like shit, but I just assume sense I haven't sat down and given it a chance, that I'm just missing something.

Use this one:

Video tutorial:

Just ignore anything that changes the look significantly or adds things. edit: Which I now realize might be difficult... So...

ALTERNATIVELY, for the most bare-bones modding, just get the MGE (for widescreen and draw distance) and the fan patch(es) on TES Nexus.

Fan patch: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/40947/?
Code Patch: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/19510/?
MGE: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/5535/? OR
MGE XE: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/41102/? (I've only used MGE)

Subtle but also very useful, a better font: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36873/?

I played some Sacred Citadel and Steamworld Dig over the weekend. Sacred is pretty shallow, the enemies are complete damage sponges and the combos feel hard to pull of on the 360 controller but it has loot, leveling, looks pretty and is an enjoyable local coop game. I'll be picking away at it for the next few weeks off and on

Steamworld Dig has a fantastic opening and immediatly feels very addictive but the further on I go the more it drags. I'm at the bottom of the second major area and I'm starting to feel burned out. The more crap they add the harder it gets to just mine and none of the platforming stuff feels great. Last night I fell in to the third area but the fall killed me. I'm hoping the new area freshens things up a bit

Done with Titan Quest. On normal anyway. I was somewhat pleasantly surprised by the credits. Wailing guitars to finish it out was pretty nice. Hades was a pushover though. I just stood there and held down the attack button. Compensating for Typhon? Which they apparently made more difficult in some patch. I remember having to smash the statues around him so that he couldn't leech their powers off them, but now he just fired those whenever without having to sap them out of the statues first. Odd choice, but whatever, a drip feed of potions solved that problem...
Not sure if I want to do the other difficulties as well, this game is gigantic. :stahp I'm gonna go back and re-jigger my build somewhat, test some things out. Maybe that'll entice me to keep going, maybe not.

Eh, it's worth playing. Just isn't memorable. I'm probably being too hard on it. It is pretty awesome at times, and I'd say it's a pretty good game. You didn't pick a wrong choice at all and you can do far worse.

Just talking in hind sight. When it came out it was really good.

Wild Arms 5 is a pretty decent game. The open world is kind of cool if just a bit ugly. There's some puzzles and platforming, but a lot of the dungeons are bland. Really though, it's the fantastic battle system that will keep you playing. It really takes 4's problems and perfects them, making the perfect grid battle system. The game could have used 4's best quality though. That it was a pretty short game.

Started The Behemoth's Battle Block Theater. I only played a little bit, because I am supposed to be figuring out how to conquer the world, but what I played was plenty of fun. The first little bit of the game is a fairly sharp tutorial, as well as featuring the behemoth guys' weird sense of violent humor and slightly melancholy whimsy.

It unlocked stuff just for having played Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers, so that was neat, too.

I've also been playing a lot of Motocross Madness. It's pretty straightforward as a motocross arcade racer, but the experience is pretty solid, from start menu, to race, to race-results and level-up/upgrades.

Nope. When I replay DS I get the master key and go directly from Gargoyles to Quelaag without even touching the forest. I've done it a few times without much issue, it's just that I got caught this one time and had to scramble. Was pretty fun tho!

There are a couple places you can get blooming purple moss in Blighttown. Sometimes the toxic snipers will drop them, and killing them has the added benefit of making them go away forever.

Next time I see you on, we really need to game. I recently purchased BattleBlock in that Thanksgiving sale, and it seems like a game that'd shine in co-op. I agree about Motocross Madness, too. Not an incredibly deep game, but really polished from top to bottom.

i stopped playing FF12 after i beated the final version of gilgamesh, every fight just get so chorish... one guy tank, one guy heal and one guy nuke like in every rpg that tries to be all MMO-like

the final dungeon (or was it the one before the last? one of the last dungeons) is a huge chore too featuring teleport that warp you around a confusing zone and a map that is completly useless

FFXII's final dungeon is the sweetest fucking dungeon next to FFVIII's final dungeon. Fuck yes. Multi-floor dungeon where you get to PICK your own handicap?

Nipple boner.

Also, your critique of "all mmo like games" is true for every rpg ever. It's always been true to have a balanced team. That's why warrior, mage, white mage, and thief is the classic team.

i don't think it was the final dungeon, all i remember is that there were warps and for some reason it didn't have the classic map layout so it was really confusing and stupid to navigate

got Dark Souls and Blood Dragon for like 7-8 dollars combined on the black friday/cyber monday deal...am about three hours in on my second re roll as a Warrior in DS (first went in as a Hunter for the bow which turned out to be too slow for combat and then as a pyro) this is like the perfect game for me, I explain it to people as being like Ninja Gaiden meets the Elder Scrolls, but going even deeper on the latter.  I'm loving it.

it's not only the combat that reminds me of Ninja Gaiden, it has the super sharp and detailed CG cutscenes which blow the Elder Scrolls away in imagination and scale.  The player laden "tips" are great too, some guy keeps leaving "fatty ahead" ones that crack me up. great stuff.

Dragon's Dogma

Battled my first Ogre in The Everfall story mission, god damn intense as fuck and much harder than Cyclops. It is pretty difficult to find a specific Pawn you need (High Levine, High Anodyne, Spellscreen)... I did not and took a lesser one so I have 2 Fire Mages instead of 1 Fire Mage and 1 Lightning Mage :/

Found SOLAR ARMOR (forgot where, maybe picked up by Pawns in some Everfall rubble?) which regenerates my health (the whole green bar not only the grey one) during the day. It looks so awesome gonna post a pic later.

It's a reward for a notice board quest, originally a DLC (unlock code) quest but I'm assuming you're playing Dark Arisen edition which includes all that? You would have just killed 10 goblins or whatever, and the armor is just put into your inventory lol

Nah, you can use the same combos in Bayo and MGR.  Hell in MGR you don't even need combos.

All that matters in these games is learning enemy patterns and timing to dodge them.  You can then counter with PPK or whatever you want and it'll work.

Not to say Bayonetta isn't deep.  It has a lot of depth to the combat because of all the stuff you can do.  But you can also get through them with finding a good combo and rocking it the whole game after dodges.  MGR isn't very deep, probably about the same as GoW, maybe less so.  You counter and slice, counter and slice, watch a bunch of QTEs, zzz.

Maybe I just leaned into Witch Time more than needed, but Bayonetta struck me as a little more demanding than that. It's been a while though.

MGR is more demanding. I went back to the DLC a few months after playing the main game and totally forgot the parry system.

You can get through most of Bayonetta (even pure plats on VH difficulty) with Shuraba + Kilgore legs spamming LLLLR and dodging when needed. Add the kilgore glitch and pulley's butterfly to make it easier.

i gave up once again and made extensive use of the wiki....

....to discover i already solved all the puzzle to get one of the very important item and just had no idea that this item existed, was important or that the stuff i did was actualy toward getting this item

then i wikied where to get the other 2 key runes, the second one was pretty easy (of course after reading where i could find it,i discovered you get there by defeating the 4th boss anyway) but i don't think i would have ever been able to find the third one without help

i also wikied myself the location of axe because it sounded so fucking usefull (it is)

then i dicked around for a while thinking that all these new item would help me find more stuff by myself just to discover that they unlocked a great total of one single extra area! whoopie fucking do!

so i took another trip to the wikia and searched for new place to explore until i found the gate of illusion... to enter it you have to solve a puzzle, the hints of this puzzle are scattered through different area's of the game and require you to do something that you have no idea you could do in the first place

then you enter the gate of illusion and it's a hell hole full of fake walls, random warps, invisible items, fetch quest were you are given only a somewhat vague hint and so much convoluted bullshit that you'd have to think the creator of this game had a grudge against people,if it wasn't for the wiki i think i would have already punched my monitor

basicaly this is quickly going from bullshit level "random 8-bit NES game" to bullshit level "Tower of Druaga"

La Mulana is great on paper, but the execution sucks.  So much cryptic bullshit that essentially forces you to look at a wiki.

you know the thing that makes me angry is that when making progress or playing with the wiki i have a great time... this game looks, sounds and feel like a konami game from 1994-1997 and without outright stealing from popular konami games and it does it so well that every "inspired" KS game should feel ashamed
