Played around a bit more in DS2, still dunno what kind of buięd I want. Game doesnt click as much with me as BB or DeS. Setting just seems less impressive. No time to dig in before Xmas so will pick it up next year again. Think I will go for a heavy armor build, to mix things up aftee bb and des.

Started playing Suikoden for the first time, good so far.

Will you continue onto Suikoden 2? That's the real star of the show...

So I'm ripping up Halo 4 for cheevos and getting quite bored, the multi is OK but not as good as Reach, something feels... off.

But really I just want to mention how much of a fucking failure the "Spartan Ops" mode is. It could have been FANTASTIC if they had employed a couple of simple design choices. My main beef with the mode is you CANT DIE OR FAIL the missions. Infinite respawns and ammo. You just throw yourself against the baddies until you clear the stage. As dying has no repercussions the mode is not challenging or thrilling in any way. WHY didn't they enable a team lives stockpile or a time limit or SOMETHING. It's just staggering how much effort they've put into building these co-op missions but with these boneheaded design choices.

Speaking of boneheads, the characters and dialogue in this is some of the worst I've seen from the Hollywood gaming era.

There's this hidden gem game on 3DS that just came out called Steamworld Heist.  The best way to describe it is a side scrolling XCOM.  It's a really solid game, but I can imagine that 18 bucks for 3DS downloadable title is a hard sell.  It is coming to other consoles and PC next year so just wait for a Humble Bundle.  :doge

Wasted a human effigy and beat the first boss of DS2 with two shades I summoned. Now I have no clue  where to go. Ome path leads to the Pursuer but that guy is too tough I think.

Finally got around to playing Dear Esther - Really enjoyed it.  Beautiful game.  Nice story, great art, great music.  For the first half the walking speed kind of annoyed me because I like to run so I hate when I can only walk in game, but once you got to the more gorgeous locations in the second half, the art and the story made up for it.  So far with walking sims, I liked this and Gone home, but Proteus was dumb.  Looking forward to Vanishing of Ethan Carter and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

Actually, pretty curious to play their take on Amnesia, just because I feel like walking sims would work pretty well as horror stories.  I mean until the end of Gone Home it could've totally been a horror story and Dear Esther kind of is.

oh yeah, now I remember my main thought while playing through Dear Esther, these walking sim games are going to be amazing and probably a big part of what sells VR.  It's the perfect genre for them and being 360 degrees immersed is going to add a ton.  I'd love to play a directors cut of Dear Esther on VR someday.

Vanishing of Ethab Carter was pretty boring. These walking sims need some real gameplay imho. Some real puzzles some direction.

Agree that VR will be huge for these games.

I liked the atmosphere and everything, but the puzzles where dull and just relied on exploring and walking around, no thinking.

Finished Disney Infinity 2.0 except for the trivial (but PITA to find players) multiplayer 'cheevo. I've still got that as the only one to go in Infinity 1.0 as well.

Played Ibb & Obb with a new friend at Space Station, a videogame-themed bar in Osaka. We made it four levels in; going to buy this for myself eventually.

Went back to Grip Shift, the arcade-racing platformer from Sidhe. I'm finding it pretty meditative overall, but made the mistake of trying the first Insane difficulty track, and have realized that I'll never be able to finish it. It's not so much difficult as patience-trying. The earlier levels are all largely simple problem solving or path finding.

Also went back to Chime, which I still very much enjoy. I'm hoping I can practice a little each day until i can unlock that final Achievement.

Ultra Street Fighter IV like usual.

Street Fighter V beta.

Started a new game of KOTOR 2 over the weekend because of The Force Awakens. After playing nothing but fighting games for a while, this gameplay is boring and I've never been a fan of KOTOR gameplay period. So I put it on ez mode and am running through the gameplay and one shotting everything so I can get to the story bits with little issue.

The update obsidian gave KOTOR 2 is nothing short of amazing. I am playing it with a Dualshock 4 and it has ps inputs. It has native wide screen support. And the content mod is official and on steam works. Amazing.

I did it. After 80+ hours in Inaba, I finally finished Persona 4 Golden.

This game could have been a lot shorter and the pacing was...not good (apparently Persona 3 is even worse in that regard). They really could have tightened things up, either with more plot events or cutting a lot of the fluff. Hopefully that is improved in Persona 5.

The characters and their development could have been better integrated with the story as well. The social link format felt a little Mass Effect 2-ish with how everything ended up feeling isolated.

I enjoyed the game enough to finish it obviously, I just wish it wasn't such a slog at times.

Story-wise and difficulty-level, for sure.  Gameplay/level design P4 is way better (remember when you couldn't even control your teammates in P3?).  Characters are good in both, music is good in both.  P5 is totally going to have the same pacing and be 60-80 hours like P3/P4.

Finally almost done with Super Robot Wars BX - Finished up Nadesico, Gundam AGE, Gundam Unicorn, 00 Trailblazer plotlines.  All that's left is the final bits of Galient, SD Gundam, Rajinoh and GaoGaiGar along with the original paper thin plot.  Game is ok, has some nice final attacks/team up attacks for the unit.  Shin Mazinger x Mazinkaiser SKL team up attack with Kenji joining in on the "ORE-TACHI WA JIGOKU DA/WE ARE HELL" line is pretty awesome.

Got Tri-ace's return to real gaming after like 5 years of doing licensed crap with Exist Archive and played a few hours on PS4.  Pretty much is Valkyrie Profile 3.0 in a different setting.  There's a million stats/sub-systems/loot.  Seems good although it's way too easy early on so you can just hit whatever buttons and win every battle.  Hoping the difficulty ramps up and makes you think about how to set up your combos like VP.  Music is nice epic Sakuraba that I haven't heard in a while.  Reminds me a little of Baten Kaitos music.  Weird looking SD characters looked horrible in the trailers, but for some reason when playing it looks fine.  Dunno.  Hope the game is good.  Miss when Tri-ace would put out lots of neat original stuff like Radiata Stories.  Would be cool if both this and Star Ocean 5 are actually good.

Beat ProC on Lolo 2 and also been playing Xenoblade X. Still not sure how I feel about it yet but it's definitely not on par with the original. It may just be a bit too open and meandering for its own good. I hate how I have to be connected online and see other players dicking around, that stuff is annoying just let me play offline without any of that shit.

You fight seymour like four times dude. What fight? Since you saw the kiss scene, you're not too far off and you must be after Bevelle, which is over half way through the game. You're not too far off and you're coming to the late part of the game.

Mortal Kombat X is fun but the story mode they put so much effort into really falls apart once you take just a second to think about it.

Playing Batman: Arkham Knight now (came with the console). It's...pretty much more of the same but with a batmobile that honestly feels shoehorned. Looks pretty though.

Finished Super Robot Wars BX which was unforgettably average.  So now I'm back to playing Ao no Kiseki. a couple of chapters in around 13 hours or so.  Game is good, just like all the previous Trails games.  Nice sidequests, slow but good main quest, good music/battles/characters.  These games are very relaxing to just sit back and play a few hours and do a couple of quests.

Also playing some more of Tri-Ace's Exist Archive which I'm still liking.  The the 2d side-scrolling controls are horrible & stiff and it's been forever since I played Valkyrie Profile but I swear that felt a lot better to play.  But that's my only real complaint, the story/character stuff is solid, reminds me of Persona 3/4 with a big cast of modern hip high-school kids who are decently intelligent and have some style, and the battles are good.  Plus the music is super epic Sakuraba that I haven't heard since Baten Kaitos and that makes everything go down smoother.  Between the music, the side scrolling platform rpg, the simplified visuals and the dozen characters and stats and sub-systems, the game is really nostalgic.  Feels like I'm playing a PS2-era original jrpg in HD.

And started playing Soma last weekend, might play some more of it today.  Like it, although I'm not sure if it's scary yet.

Yeah, not finding Soma scary.  I mean I'm liking it as Bioshock x Dead Space (so basically System Shock) adventure game.  But since it's not really scary I'm basically just playing it for the story.  Kind of wish it was scary too, like Amnesia & Pnumbra, but oh well.  Maybe it's just me and I don't find

I think what's really impressive about Soma is that it really does feel as polished and legit as a AAA title and it's made by like 15 people (even though it took them 5 years).  Game could easily have been called Bioshock 3 and no one would've batted an eye.  Feels really well made.

Finished that charity-giving music/puzzle game, Chime, after reading about a glitch. Even with the glitch, I probably put in 3 hours a night for three nights before getting it to do what I needed. It's a good game with just a couple design/UI flaws. The basic puzzling part of it is pretty great.

Installed Windows 10 on my beleaguered PC, and surprisingly it seems to have sped it up some. It definitely is doing more than before, and it feels faster. So I've also installed some crappy Xbox-enabled games on it to mess with whenever my son is Minecrafting it up on my 360.

Any suggestions on cheap, fun games with Achievements which can run on crap hardware?

FFX struggle continues.

After Seymour you do some trials and leave the mountain where a bad ass fiend with Photon Cannon comes down. I was doing fine and figured out that I had to cast Reflect on him so he couldn't cast Curaga on himself.

But then when he was down to 12k he started casting Reflect on my party and then Curaga, sneaky bastard.

Need to find a way deal with the Photon Cannon which pisses me off so much with all the statuses.
