Ok, finished my first run of Nier. Liked it a lot. Great art/music, good characters, nice little sad stories filling out the small world. The Facade masked kingdom was my favorite place, had so much character. Game was way shorter/smaller than I ever thought. Took me about 14 hours but I skipped like half the sidequests because once they got stupid and way too fillerish while the plot was moving I didn't want to bother doing them. Don't feel like I missed much not doing them going by the ones I did do.
I think I got the gist of the story but definitely have a lot of questions that I hope the new game+ runs flesh out and clear up. Does new game+ have new dungeons/areas/enemy types/bosses? Because one thing I'm wondering is I couldn't upgrade almost any of my 2H weapons to even lvl.2 because they required items that I never found anywhere in the world. Pretty much just used the spear I bought from the village shop at the start of the 2nd half for the whole 2nd half of the game because nothing was stronger.
So I started new game+ and are all the new scenes just going to be text? I mean I liked the ones at the start, but just wondering if there's actual real new cutscenes in new game+ or if the game is so budget that all the new scenes are just black screens + text. That's one thing I got from the game, the budget must have been real small. The world is pretty tiny and re-running through the dungeons all over again was kinda lame but I guess they couldn't afford more areas. Even the final dungeon is just a bunch of hallways lol. Hope Nier 2 has a bigger budget! Btw, I can see how Platinum is pretty much the perfect fit for Nier. I mean the boss kill moves you do in Nier with the giant red fists and spears and stuff is straight out of Bayonetta. Just hope it's one of the good teams at Platinum because they've got some sucky staff there going by stuff like TMNT and Korra.
So now at this point in new game+, should I start using a faq to get the endings I want? Or for new game+ do I just run through the game like normal again, watch the new scenes, and get a new ending, and then on new game++ I start using a guide for the endings? Or should I just do new game+ once and then youtube the remaining endings to get the rest of the story content? Basically what's the most efficient, fastest way to see all the rest of the story?
*edit* Looked at an ending FAQ and saw that I just play it through normally on this run for Ending B, then on new game++ I need to collect the couple of remaining weapons to have all weapons and then I get an Ending C or D choice and I should pick C, and then I should pick D on the new game+++ run. But if I don't care about trophies and stuff, if the only difference between Ending C/D runs are a choice at the end, I would assume I can just pick C and then youtube choice D's ending and save 4-5 hours of doing another run through? I mean does Ending C run even differ from Ending B run outside of the ending? Aka, can I just beat it this one time with Ending B and then youtube Ending C/D and I've seen it all? Or does the third run through the game towards Ending C/D have new scenes spread throughout?
Btw, one thing that's kind of lame is the loading screen reports now that I've installed the game sometimes don't give me enough time to read the report before it loads the next area. This is a bit annoying with the black reports from the 2000s era since there's some interesting stuff in there.
