I also played it for the first time last week (I think I made comments in this thread). I didn't have any problems with the controls, but I hate how they essentially scrapped the design document with those zombie levels. It devolved into a corridor shooter.

Lyte, I am kind of surprised that you liked it more than Gears. I thought that its use of "arena" areas was much more egregious than Gears. The weapons aren't nearly is good, but I will say that the story was more enjoyable in Uncharted. I still liked Uncharted, but I had major problems with the platforming mechanics and the zombie levels.

One thing that I haven't seen very much of in reviews was praise for Uncharted's AI. I thought it was pretty standard most of the game, but there are a few instances in which you fight a large group of enemies (the area that comes to mind is the cathedral). The enemies start to swarm from different angles of attack and you really feel overwhelmed at times.

I was just at Best Buy.  Picked up ODST without much interest, walked around in the store for a bit, put ODST back on the shelf and ended up buying a copy of Riddick for the PS3.

I think I'll just rent ODST.

plugging away at Prince of Persia. Yeah its repetitive as hell and requires zero skill, but it looks great (love the big open environments) and the script is so bad its good. About 2/3 the way through, not a bad game by any means.

You guys know that in Uncharted when you reach the zombie levels you're supposed to stop aiming and fire from the hip while running to fight them, right?

I thought it was neat and gave the gunplay a fresh feel after so many hours of Gears style cover/aim/shoot.

FEAR 2 Reborn is actually only takes about an hour to finish.  It was pretty fun and I'm not aware of anything multiplayer added, but $10 would have been a rip-off.

It's not an overly long game, but I think that's a good thing.  It finishes up before it overstays its welcome.

around how long? and how easy is it to get in and out of? it seems like the type of game I'd play once every once in a while for about an hour and finish in a year.

I just checked and apparently I finished the game in 16 hours. Though I procrastinated alot with looting and left it on for a while so I'd say you'd be able to beat the game in 10-12 if you tried. It's pretty easy to get into and play a dungeon for a short bit + there are save crystals strewn around the levels. I'd say that even if you only play every once and awhile you'd still easily beat it way before a year's up.

My problem with the game wasn't so much the time as the lack of variety in levels. There's only a handful of levels and the main game has the gall of making you replay a few of them. There's also a multiplayer mode (which can be played in single player) and a new game +, which are interesting but again make you replay the same levels.

So I beat GoW2. Unskippable cut-scenes are fuck distinguished mentally-challenged. The O button. Endless QTE's. Fucking puzzles every other section. The O button. Killing enemies felt like work after a while. I honestly remember enjoying this the first couple of times but not this time.

:x

Hmm, I loved GoW2. Finished it 3 times. The cutscenes are very short, the QTEs - well you can avoid all of them and simply mash the O button to finish the enemies except the bosses ones.

Didn't you like the locales and graphics? The Steeds of Time and The Atlas were AMAZINGLY good looking, honestly, best graphics on the PS2.

The Lakhesis and her sister fight was the high-point of the game for me.

Worst part: the corridor going down right before the final boss with 7 waves of enemies and no checkpoint in sight. Took me 3 hours to beat on hard.

It's certainly a nice looking game.

Wait a second.  Last year I made a post about how much I liked BC and made a mention of how satisfying the destruction was and you basically wrote me off saying the game was a "sucky mess".  Looks like the worm has turned! lol

I think the campaign can get pretty freakin' tedious after awhile and I don't particuarly care for the boxed-in level structure or how you can constantly respawn, but taken in small doses along with a proper sound system the game can be quite awesome.  Some of the earlier levels with the small villages are my favorite with shit blowing up all around you.  Best videogame sound design ever.

I know! Although that was probably also me wanting to troll whatever you had to say, but yeah, I'm liking it a lot more now. I blame COD4 and its bananaguns and titanium environments.

still playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

Once you can deal with the camera controls and its actually pretty alright and strangely addicting. Due to the combat system its still annoying fighting more than on enemy at a time though.

i'm so shit at MH games.  I just wish the action was faster and controls were more responsive.

i wish for that sometimes as well but i somewhat like the slow, methodological way of fighting, watching your enemy and not fucking up on your end because it can cost you..

My clear time was just over 12 hours.  As mentioned by trey there are tons of save spots strewn around and your objective is never anything more complicated than "Go through this dungeon and smack the shit out of the boss", so I think you'll be okay if you put it down for a while between play sessions.

Sounds good.  Thanks.

It and Apollo Justice have been sitting on my shelf, might as well get around to playing them.

Samurai Warriors 2 still.

This is quite a bit different than the first but the most annoying things are how the missions are scattered.  You claim a mountain but you need to make a full on sprint to save your commander on the other side of the map.  Once you do that, you need to stop some cannons in the middle of the map but about 10 seconds later, the cannons start launching.  WTF

Pretty fun game.  A lot of levels have a lot of variety in them and are pretty colorful.  The first one had much larger maps but were all flat and drab.

My 360 sounds like a jet engine now.  It will probably end up red ringing here in a couple of months.

About halfway through Time Gentlemen, Please!  Surprisingly I've been kinda bored for a while.  The beginning was good, but I felt like it got repetitive and the pacing sucked in the next part where the story didn't move much and you just had a bunch of areas to explore.  Hope the 2nd half is better because I though Ben There, Dan That was excellent.  But that was compact and quickly paced with no time for fluff.

Playing LOTS of Williams Pinball because, frankly, it's more fun than anything else on consoles/pc right now.  So probably won't be ODSTing for a while still.  Good thing Uncharted 2/Brutal Legend is still 3 weeks away.

At 60% completion on BULLY, and trying to prevent a quick completion by mixing my time  with other games.

My Rock Band 2 copy died with a nasty hub crack, so I'm going back and playing Guitar Hero 2 and Rock Band 1's drum Solo Tour. because I suck at drums. Right about the point I thought I was getting a good grip on drums, Green Grass and High Tides shows up again to debase and demean my existence. The drums on "fast part" are beyond my ken, even on Medium. Nothing like failing 5 minutes into a song, and Medium gives plenty of time to see the BIG FAIL coming.  :'(It's become a mental block that I can't even get past in Practice mode, I get all freaked out.

Finished Time Gentlemen, Please!  Overrated game completely.  Was it funny?  Sure.  But the gameplay was a REALLY tedious adventure with more backtracking the majority of adventure games.  Soooo much back/forth and the puzzles weren't that great.  Plus the game has like no plot and almost no characters.  Meh, 7/10 game like most adventure games after the golden age.  Weird cause I actually dug Ben There, Dan That.  But that game was short, to the point, and had funny characters and lots of comical murder (definitely wasn't enough murder in TGP).

Oh well, at least now I can move on to another story-based game; probably ODST.

Played some Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker co-op today.  It was really fun, although I don't get the point of synching up.  We were doing better running around doing our own thing.

Also played a bit of Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes.  One of my friends is really interested in it now after seeing videos of Basara 3, so we did some 2P play on the Wii version.  I still love this game so much more than anything from Koei.  The game play is so much smoother and it's just more fun to play.

i could see why you will enjoy it more as a single player compared to gears but the controls just didn't click with me.

in any case it made me go from not bothering with uncharted 2 due to rabid sfags to day one.

What was it about the controls that you didn't like?  I had no real problems with anything, aside from the occasional square, triangle, square punch combo not coming out.

The Uncharted 2 beta from June is got me into Uncharted.  I ignored all the fanboys before; the game always struck me as "Dude Raider," with a boring, "plain every day man" main character.  Then hearing it was like Gears turned me off to it, and barely ever touched the game.  After the beta though, I got all hyped for Uncharted 2, and finally sat down to play through the original before its release.  It was a blast and I wish I had played it earlier.  I ended up liking the "every day man" to Nate's character, and how he's come off as kind of unsure or nervous in situations/say stuff in fights.  There wasn't really that much platforming stuff, but what was there was good, and generally the pacing was good too.

I also played it for the first time last week (I think I made comments in this thread). I didn't have any problems with the controls, but I hate how they essentially scrapped the design document with those zombie levels. It devolved into a corridor shooter.

The zombie stuff was so little of the game, though.  Like two levels.

Played some PS3 demos I d/led:

-Red Faction - not bad at all actually, controlled smoothly and had a nice framerate.
-Ninja Gaiden Sigma - hard to differentiate Ryu with the enemies, camera tended to jump a bit. Was always more a DMC fan... and of course I like the 2D Ninja Gaidens best
-Lost Planet 2 - found the first few parts to be a bit boring honest, but nice graphics, and the monster fight at the end was awesome
-Nucleus - didn't play much of this, weird twin-stick shooter

And, did my most recent unlocked skirmish in Valkyria, up to chapter 11. Playing this ALL weekend.

Played the Wolfenstein demo and really enjoyed it.  Am I insane?

I watched a Gametrailers review and they liked it but then turn around and give it 6.8 or something.  I'm guessing the multiplayer isn't very good but that doesn't bother me if singleplayer is fun.

Playing KZ2, after a bunch of patches. It's been so long since I played it that it's hard to judge, but I think the controls are a bit less weighted now. There's also some new control option, high precision or something. Loading pauses seem a lot longer now, for some reason.

It's the definition of average, Bildi. I plugged away at single player until I beat it, but I was wishing it was over by the halfway mark. Kinda gitchy too. If you MUST plat it, rent it, don't buy.

Halo 3 multiplayer.

So I was just in a game of Team BRs (well, two games ago). Team Slayer at Narrows, 4 on 4.

I realize I'm not some uber player, so far be it from me to criticize, but how am I the only person on my team with a headshot? It's Team freaking BRs. Get some headshots and try to win, for crying out loud.

I liked the demo too.  I kinda wish I got it when it was $30 a bit ago, but I might as well wait until it's lower now.  I'm also a bit annoyed there isn't a PC demo.  But yeah, it was pretty fun.

haha, just noticed Amazon is selling the PC version for $29.  Definitely considering it.

-On the last table in Pinball.  Might finish it tonight.  Then will just play it here and there and when people are over for multiplay.
-4 levels left in Giana Sisters DS.  Sooo close, but getting all the red gems on these final stages is tough work.  Might finish it tonight.
-Shadow Complex, working through it.  Love the game in small bursts, but after about 30-60 mins of it, it feels kind of tedious so I turn it off for the night.

When I finish those I'm gonna get back to ODST which I haven't touched for a few days now :\

I recently got an sd card reader for my laptop so I decided to try the brawl+ mod.  I'll leave out the technicalities and just say the custom soundtracks are fucking awesome.  I played Norfair and Frigate Orpheon stages with Metroid Metal renditions of Maridia and Phendrana Drifts.  Going to put some Mario Galaxy tunes on next.
