Lol ok. Are there any other decent arcades in NY? New Roc City is okay, but Tekken 6 is the only recent fighter they have.

I was suppose to go to a fighter tourney at Lehman earlier today, but I think my lack of sleep (midterm week) caught up with me. I slept through most of the afternoon.

I was playing the Mythic playlist with a friend and I had the shotgun on Citadel. So this guy decides to betrays me for the shotgun twice so he can try and get the Pull achievement (shotgun spree). After I respawned the second time I chased him across the map leaving him with no shields until he betrayed me again, and then I booted him.  :teehee

And that is why multiplayer achievements are shit.

Samurai Warriors 2 (360)

Still playing this one.  I have three characters left and put in about 26 hours.  I'm not going to fuck around too much on the other modes other than Story Mode.  This game cleansed my Musou plate after the stale DW Gundam.

So it is time to order a couple of more games.  I was thinking Lost Odyssey and Warriors Orochi, both which I see are selling new or near new for dirt cheap ($8-14).

I borrowed a upper 20"s 1080p monitor to see how it would look compared to my 10 year old 1280x1024 17" monitor.

I have been converted.  I know what I'm getting during the Black Friday sales!

I tried Torchlight and OMG IT LOOKED LIKE A DIFFERENT GAME.  Soooo pretty, so much detail.  :o  Tried L4D2 and it looked great as well.  Same for 1080p videos.  The monitor was a cheap one though and the scaling was terrible so when I tried to play 720p videos or 480p videos they looked blurry and not sharp.  If I can get one with good scaling I am so buying one.  Game graphics look way better in widescreen 1080p than 4:3 1024p.

Played some GTA The Lost And The Damned today.  Gave up on the second Jimmy mission (take out a bunch of cops) after dying countless times.  It's like I'm firing and getting direct hits on the enemies every time, but nothing happens.  Saints Row 2 plays so much fucking better.

More Tekken 6, too.  Last night I brought it over to a buddy's house, and we tried online on his wireless connection...HOLY CRAP talk about terrible.  Night and day compared to the wired set-up at my house.

If you want more Musou, definitely try out Warriors Orochi.  That series and Samurai Warriors are Koei's best, IMO.

It's extra distinguished mentally-challenged because you can cheat to get those. Just get one friend, each of you turns on 3 extra controllers, and search in Team Mythic in a party of 8.

You just get banned from gaining Bungie experience points. If you don't play multi then you don't care. I do play multi and I don't care.

I did it on several occasions for the cheevs and none of the people involved got the ban. As long as you just pick up one of the dead controllers and get 1 kill with it, Bungie has no way of knowing it wasn't a legitimate game. Although we always had more than 2 live players involved, that might have helped.

Here's what's weird about GTA IV's aiming: You get a lock on the torso, and you can hold down the trigger on a full-auto weapon, and it'll knock the guy down and take half his health, but it doesn't kill them. They'll be back up again and shooting. If you just lay on the trigger for a few more seconds, their health will slowly go down, with the last pip seeming to take forever.

OR: You can lock on, and tap-tap the trigger for a short burst, and preferably do that tap-tap while pulling back slightly on the Right Stick, tilting the aim back for a headshot. These are frequently 1-2 bullet kills. GTA is apparently trying to encourage a more complex shooting ethic, while maintaining their goofy lock-on gameplay.

Protip: the lock-on, Right Stick adjust is just as effective in multiplayer. Running around with a decent pistol and using this method is more effective than getting a full-auto carbine and unloading 2/3 of a clip into someone. :-/

the dash is good (initial Genshin fight :omg ) but its just that i'm so used to the rolling from the first game.

I'm slowly getting in the groove through so hopefully it will stick.

Try adjusting the turning speed in the options, I always crank it all the way up. I rarely have problems with the camera though, aside from when it occasionally gets stuck pointing upward or something. Then I just hit RT.

Rolling feels much better than the dash--better audio cues, more obvious animation.  Hate the dash.  Haet NG2.  So much.

Series of events in finishing SMT SJ

9:30pm - Load save and try final boss
10:00pm - ok, final boss is impossible at my level with my demons; lvl.73
12:00am - grinding to lvl. 78
2:00am - grinded to lvl.81
4:00am - grinded to lvl.85, try the boss again with endgame demons.  Better and definitely doable but still insanely hard and need to mod my party
6:00am - much modding and tries later, boss has been defeated; close the DS lid on sleep mode; go to sleep
10:15am - wake up; watching ending.  DONE FUCK YES

I hate it when you have to grind in order to finish the final boss. Like I just finished Enchanted Arms (good game btw), I made it to the final boss with 1800 HP with Atsuma and got raped a few times. Then I looked at a guide that suggests I have 7000 health  :maf I went and got the rest of the God Weapons for Raigar, Yuki and Karin and beat it with ~2400 health, so whatever. Still annoys the shit out of me.

Though I'm fine with it in a dungeon crawler like Strange Journey, as it's to be expected. I guess it just bothers me when you don't need to grind for the entire game and then all of a sudden you're severely underleveled right at the end.

I also finished up Afro Samurai (1000'd)... meh. Probably the worst action game I've played in a long time, but it has its moments. I thought the anime was pretty shit too, so I'm already kinda biased. Music was awesome though.

Alright I'm done gaming and say goodbye to this thread temporarily.  I was supposed to be done with gaming last week because I have a 25 page research paper due at the end of the month and a 20 min presentation on it due next week which I haven't started, but I have a videogame addiction and felt compelled to finish SMT before I went on my gaming break.  Was also supposed to finish up ODST but I'll put that off until over xmas; it's not particularly addicting.

3 weeks of paper, then 3 weeks of finals so no time for gaming if I want to pass my classes well.

Next game I play will be FFXIII!  Comes out the day I finish finals  :hyper

Played some Soul Calibur IV.  Was curious if the amount of people playing dropped off after Tekken 6 came out, and it seems to be so.  I only saw one of the regulars (the guys that were always on playing, no matter what time of day), and he was sitting in a 2-man room alone.  Kinda sad.  I joined, he beat me and then kicked me.  With the incredibly small amount of players on now, you'd think that wouldn't happen.

Got an invite from a Spanish player.  The connection was awful, and after taking this guy's Apprentice spam for half a round, I decided to counter with Lizardman db+kick sweep spam.  Just tripped him repeatedly, until it knocked him off the stage for a ringout.  The guy was livid, and rage-quit immediately, disbanding his own room.  Then he started sending me numerous hate messages in broken English.  Played along for a bit, then blocked him.  But he wasn't done yet, and found me hosting a room.  He enters, I kick him.  Then he enters again and starts spouting off all kinds of racial slurs and American hate, in bad English.  I just laughed at him and kicked him until he finally quit.

Went back to Street Fighter afterwards.  Both IV and HD Remix.  Still the best.

Beat Crapzone 2. In both this and Uncharted there are sequences where you have to fight enemies, A LOT of enemies. This gets tiresome very fast especially in the final area where you are stuck fighting enemy after enemy after enemy. I don't mind this as much in Uncharted mainly because it's third person,FPS's were never my cup of tea but I've been trying to make a good effort getting into them. It's not working. And why the fuck is your AI partner so fucking useless?

The beginning of the credits looked pretty darn nice though.

More Tekken 6 today.  Taking out Chreddy scrubs with Alisa is cakewalk now, but it's still hard for me to do with other characters.  Getting better though.  Felt good to stop that crap with Anna today.  Had the WORST online match yet-- worse than KOF XII, even.  Everything was so laggy that it took like 10 seconds for "Round 1...FIGHT!" to come up.  I still won the match though.  Just spammed df+1 and stopped every attempt the other guy was making at kicking or throwing.  It looked hilarious in slow motion...that replay was definitely saved.

:bow Lyte Edge, gettin' more hate mail than the President :bow2

 :lol

Been on a role lately, but really the last couple of months, I was getting almost no hate mail.  People playing SF4 have matured; I'd get "good game" messages instead.  And what fun is that?   :P

The Namco fighting games seem to bring out the worst in people.  I forgot to mention one match where I fucked with a trash talker by just not getting up-- when you get knocked down in Soul Calibur, you stay there until you either roll up or attack and get up.  I got knocked down in the beginning of the match, and just laid there, waiting to see what would happen.  The other guy was the cheap-ass boss character.  Turns out a ton of his attacks can't hit a fallen character.  So I would just stay on the ground and watch him frantically trying to hit me, to no avail.  The other guy in the room with us was laughing his ass off.  :lol  Algol's fireball attack does hit the ground though; I think I could have just rolled to the side to avoid them, but I was laughing too much to care about the rest of the match.

Tried it again on another guy afterward.  Was tired of playing, but accepted the match anyway, so I just put the controller down and let the other guy beat me up.  Only he too seemed incredibly baffled as to why I wasn't getting up, and would just "dance" around and taunt randomly.  The last round, I picked up the controller midway through match, and took off 50% of his life...then put the controller down again.  I've never seen someone act so confused before.

What sucks is that the Bad Loser Wall Of Shame hasn't been updated for months.  Tekken is ripe with rage quitters and hate-mailers, with the added bonus of many tardos using mics for your listening pleasure.

It's because Tekken's not a real fighting game.  :-*

Dead Space and Condemned are really awesome - hope you can control the heebie-jeebies and get some enjoyment out of them.
Maybe I'll give it a go this weekend, when lack of sleep doesn't equal auto-death at work.

I'm still doing any% runs in Super Metroid. It's funny -- I think with a month or two of practice I could easily match the previous record, but I know that I can't ever come anywhere even close to matching this Jap's time. I'm beginning to understand why the former record holder was so butthurt about his time being shattered by nearly 5 minutes.

I thought the game was pretty boring during my Normal run. Don't remember Hard too well, but once you kick it up to Inferno and maybe Hardest the game gets a lot more fun I think. You have to start going into levels with an actual game plan, or there's a good chance you'll get wrecked. A single spider web on Inferno can easily do thousands of damage if it hits you just right for example. Still, it's not that hard, there's only a few missions on Inferno that gave me any real trouble IIRC.

Glad I finally got that out of the way though. Farming levels repeatedly for one or two weapons is so damn boring. :-\
