Reviewers will be wrong. PoA wont be topped.
Solo is wrong, PoA was topped.
Serioulsly, some of the cinematography hands down put Prisoner's to fucking shame. And this isn't me forgetting either, I literally watched Prisoner of Azkaban again only a few hours before going to see Half-Blood Prince.
What it comes down to is this: Even with the changes (and let me write a paragraph in parenthesis here: seriously, THESE ARE FUCKING MOVIES, THEY AREN'T THE FUCKING BOOKS. THEY ARE GOING TO CHANGE SHIT. ) I truly feel that Yates is probably the Potter director with the best sense of the books' tone and the best idea of who the characters are. The entire film is about the destruction of innocence, which is pretty much what the book is about.
Not to mention the fact that I thought this movie had some great performances in it. Broadbent as Slughorn was, yet again, another spot on perfect cast in a fucking film series that may be the best cast franchise in the history of modern cinema. The kids acted well too, even Tom Felton as Draco, who had notoriously overacted in previous films.
So basically, it's the best Potter film hands down. I was entertained from start to finish. Fucking great. If you liked PoA, you will love this one. Now I'm really looking forward to the two part conclusion to the film series as well as future films directed by David Yates.
