He didn't ask for help. Fincher's his friend and offered suggestions and tips to a first time director.

It is not unheard of for directors to show work prints to their peers for constructive criticism. Glad the guy is not an egomaniac.

Part of the reason why early Star Wars movies worked (basically all of the 70's new hollywood guys had their fingers all over the original Star Wars from Brian De Palma to John Millius) and the later ones didn't. Same reason why post LOTR Peter Jackson movies have been overly bloated and boring.

Having your film peers help out on movies is usually a good thing.

You know it's a good sign when the director of this is seeming to sign on to a new movie to direct every day. He has to be doing something right if the studios are falling over themselves to sign him to projects.

Why even do that? I mean he created the whole Tron world, so it would take one line of dialogue to say he made the avatar thing look like he does now and get rid of these creepy nonsense.

Hell if they just had his Tron character look like he does now without even saying anything I doubt anyone would really even bat an an eye.

I don't think they're actually doing any of the CG work though, if that's what you're suggesting, it's just some of Pixar's main guys providing feedback and ideas.

When did the Disney imprint begin issuing PG-rated movies? I thought that was the whole reason behind the creation of Touchstone Pictures: allow Disney to release non-G-rated movies without tarnishing their perfect family image...?

Pirates of the Caribbean and Prince of Persia were both released under the Disney/Buena Vista line.

Quote
In late 1979, Walt Disney Productions released The Black Hole, a science-fiction film that was the studio's first production to receive a PG rating (the company, however, had already distributed its first PG-rated film, Take Down—without the Disney name visible—almost a year before the release of The Black Hole.) Over the next few years, Disney experimented with more PG-rated fare, such as the 1981 film Condorman; 1982's Tron and Tex; and 1983's Never Cry Wolf and Trenchcoat. The latter film attracted major criticism for including adult themes that were considered inappropriate for a Disney film.[3] The controversy over Trenchcoat is generally considered the catalyst that later sparked the creation of the Touchstone Pictures brand.
Started by then-Disney CEO Ron W. Miller in 1984, Touchstone's first film was Splash, a huge hit for Walt Disney Productions, grossing $68 million at the domestic boxoffice.[4] Splash included brief rear nudity on the part of star Daryl Hannah and occasional inappropriate language, earning a PG-rating. Because of its success, yet another Disney film label was started in 1990, Hollywood Pictures, with the release of Arachnophobia.
Following the success of the Disney-branded PG-13 rated Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003, and other films that in the 1980s and '90s would have been assigned to the Touchstone (or Hollywood Pictures) label, Disney has decided to weigh distribution of films more toward Disney-branded films and away from Touchstone films, though not entirely disbanding them as it is still using the Touchstone label for R and most PG-13 rated fare.[5]

It would have to be on the 3D screen since it's a 3D only preview.

Disney is showing an extended version of the Comic Con footage at DCA every Friday-Sunday in the MuppetVision 3D theater starting at 6:00pm every night. During Thanksgiving and Christmas week it'll be every night.

It's the same footage from Comic Con, but they added what looks like a near-final young Jeff Bridges that's less uncanny valley.

BEST 20 SECONDS OF MY LIFE

Remember the old Superspeed Tunnel at Disneyland when the Peoplemovers would go into TRON?

Well at elecTRONica they kinda reproduced that. As you walk down the main Hollywood Blvd street on the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area; the new Lightcycles are projected all around you as is the grid and DAFT PUNKS SOUNDTRACK IS PLAYING. OMFG it's awesome.

It's at 1m12s here:
