What a stupid fight. Anderson's 38 years old now, he can't fuck around like that and not expect to pay.

I think Anderson will win the rematch but he shouldn't have played. He was clearly more tired after the first round than he usually is anyway. He took Weidman for granted and that's what can happen when you screw around.

Like I said I think Anderson will win the rematch but why not just fight normal and finish the dude.

What sort of idiot would say that. It's pretty clear what happened.

I mean. Dude basically parodied himself in the fight. He's done this shit before but not this over the top. One can look at his actions as being purposeful. Obviously he wouldn't have known he was going to get knocked out but he sure as hell didn't do anything to prevent it and did everything in his power to make it happen. Then he goes on to say he doesn't want a rematch? Even I admit it looks super weird.

Do I actually think he did throw the fight? Nah. But it's not crazy to envision a situation where that would happen.

Anderson says a lot of stuff. Most of it you can generally ignore as its bs. We'll see what happens down the road and whether a rematch happens or not. I'm betting it will.

He's embarrassed at the moment. And he's definitely been bored as a fighter for awhile now based on his antics in the ring in nearly every fight as they've mostly been goof off exercises but I have a feeling he's not going to go out on that fight.

I think he's tired of fighting people that are perceived as cans. It must be annoying for him to train for fights and then hear the chirping that his opponents are shitty when he beats them. When it was his talent that made them look shitty.

I think that's where he was coming from in the post-fight where he said 'people don't respect him'.

He really should retire though. There isn't much else to prove out there and hes quickly approaching 40.

Dude fought Stephan Bonnar 9 months ago, clowned around all fight, and got away with it.

From that fight, he clearly thought "hey, this was fun, let's do this some more"

The difference is, Stelhan Bonnar was a top 30 LHW.

A top 5 MW > a top 30 LHW

As much as I love Anderson and impressive as his career has been the last X number of fights have just been honestly a goof-athon. If you have that talent even if you think you are above the competition and are above the competition, just go out there and crush them. I just don't understand the thing about goofing around for the entire fight to an extreme degree just for the hell of it. As much as I detest Mayweather as a human being, he goes out there and takes care of business. He doesn't clown around. He takes it seriously like its a job and payday.

Early Anderson was inconsistent. Then there was one phase of Anderson's career where he was deadly serious for a good long while. Then he added in some of the showboating stuff which was fine, and then he turned it into a parody. I think that happened around the Forrest Griffin fight and he just never actually tried anymore because he didn't have to. He clearly should have beat Weidman tonight. But when you are 38 and more tired than usual, even Silva can get caught.

Dana would be nuts to not get a rematch. That instantly becomes the biggest ppv of the year.

Of course he has something to prove.  He was just completely humiliated, and now 3 of his 5 career losses are complete embarrassments. :P

Yeah, I "gut instinct'd" it for Gustaffson, but it was damned close no matter how you saw it.

But even if you called it a Jones win, he sure as hell didn't look like the destroyer who would just waltz up to heavyweight and take the belt from Cain or JDS...

He has one skill and that's it. He's always been overblown. The good matchup with Silva and his trash talking meant Dana was going to push him hard because of that.

Hendricks won the first.
Second round to me would be the one in dispute.
GSP won third round clearly.
Hendricks won 4th round clearly.
GSP won 5th round clearly.

I thought Hendricks edged the 2nd round. And at worse it was a 10-10 round which would have been a draw.

I have always wondered how the UFC would be with a different president than Dana White. Maybe a more european style of leadership and presentation. Maybe it's just me, but I can't take his act seriously. I always feel that I have to read him or interrept what he says through a filter to understand what he is doing or trying to do.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre announced Friday that he will step away from fighting for an undetermined period of time.

As such, St-Pierre will relinquish the UFC belt one month after retaining his title for the ninth time in a controversial decision over Johny Hendricks in Las Vegas.

UFC president Dana White announced that, in lieu of St-Pierre, Hendricks has been tabbed to fight Robbie Lawler for the vacant strap March 15 in Dallas.

St-Pierre, 32, cited personal issues and a severe reaction to the intensifying pressure of being a star athlete for his decision to walk away at this time.

"My life is a frickin' zoo right now," the Montreal native said during a teleconference.

St-Pierre refused to explain the nature of his personal issues. During a question-and-answer session at an event in Quebec City following the announcement, he said he will consult with his family about the direction of his career.

The three-time Canadian athlete of the year will continue to train and improve on his considerable skills, he said. However, he did not wish to think about fighting at this time and didn't consider it fair to hold up an expansive list of contenders beneath him.

"I'm content," St-Pierre said. "It's a lot of things I wanted to do. I wanted to be the greatest, and also I said before when I do things, I want to do things to be remembered, to make a difference in the sport, make the sport reach another level. I'm trying to do it during my last fight. Unfortunately, it did not work. These people are not ready for it. I tried to do my best."

St-Pierre was alluding to his disappointment regarding the scope of drug testing leading up to his fight with Hendricks on Nov. 16 in Las Vegas, the fighter's manager, Rodolphe Beaulieu, told ESPN.com.

St-Pierre said he hoped for a normal life and that he didn't "want people thinking about me."

He has been outstanding as a competitor for the UFC, standing as champion twice since 2006 while posting a 25-2 record. The fighter said he was 100 percent healthy and ready to physically compete, but mentally he was ill-prepared to step in the cage at this time.

St-Pierre is the most successful draw on pay-per-view for the UFC, but White noted this is part of the business.

"He's got these issues that he needs to deal with, and once he deals with them, he can focus on training and being a fighter again," White said.

St-Pierre left the door wide open to returning.

"If I decide to come back, I will be at the top of the game," he said.

How odd.
