I dunno, that "thunk" qualifies more as a headbutt than just facing off. I don't know how JJ thought that'd go over, but a push back is about the least offensive response I can think of.

DC has got this

I hope so, just because I like to see the belt move around. That Spider Silva and GSP crap was frustrating, as they began to fight to retain the belt rather than definitively show their superiority.

On a serious note though this is the most interesting, exciting fight in a long time in the UFC for me. I think both guys are great fighters. Should be fun.

yep.  Both are incredibly talented and it seems like a legitimate competition this time.  Most recent UFC fights are already decided as soon as they announce them

I haven't finished watching the video, but I will later. I didn't know Wanderlei had done bare-knuckle fighting. That shit is hella scary. I also agree with what I've seen so far: the fighters are consistently underpaid for the level of risk they take. It's harsh to see someone like Dana consistently manipulate and shortchange the fighters. Sad.

Though maybe Wanderlei's talking about a different group...? The other franchises are ALWAYS full of promises, but short on money and common sense.

Was an interesting fight.

The first three rounds were great. Back and forth action. They both gassed by the 4th and 5th round but cormier had gassed more and couldn't effectively put up offense any more. I wish the ref had separated them more in the last two rounds as there was a lot of hanging on each other in those two rounds.

I still feel a little letdown though. While Jones won the fight clearly, neither guy landed the definitive damage my blood lust demands.

Whenever you have a size mismatch like that, it always comes down to if the smaller guy can get inside and land big shots. That just never really happened as Jones was in control pretty much the whole time.

I felt that Cormier handled Jones size very well. I never felt that Jones was allowed to utilize his height and the reach advantage the way we are used to see him do. Cormier was fighting like a beast and he was able to execute his game plan very well the first three rounds. I even loved the lift-up in the air slam down take down he did in the last round.

To me, Cormier won the first three rounds. That is my opinion and how i feel and I know that the scores and stats show otherwise. His combos were landing and they were brutal. To me a solid two or three punch combo counts more than three separate kicks or three jabs that have no follow ups or sway.

Dana has let Conor basically run the UFC and had a separate set of rules for him. The promotion has been run terribly in the last few years. Something Something chickens coming home to roost.

Honestly it's time for Joe to fuck off and do fight companions with his stoner cronies, it's what he wants to do anyway and his fans like that dumb shit more anyway

Bonus - Joe's explanation https://www.instagram.com/p/BhVkUgKnexE/
Quote
joerogan It is insanely rare to have a fighter as dominant as @khabib_nurmagomedov. In one of the most talent stacked divisions to go 25 and 0 is incredible, but to do it without even having a rough moment in a fight is completely unheard of.
The closest thing to adversity he’s had to face in the Octagon before Saturday was one solid punch that was landed by Michael Johnson in a fight that was otherwise a horrifically one-sided mauling. When I’m commentating on someone that dominant I am constantly looking for cracks in their armor, and on Saturday night we saw the first of those cracks exposed by an incredibly game Al Iaquinta.
Most people, myself included, expected the highly favored Khabib to rag doll his last minute opponent the way he’s done to everyone else he faced in the Octagon, and that was the case in the early going, but as the fight got into the later rounds Al was able to keep the fight standing and we saw some possible flaws in Khabib’s defense. Make no mistake about it, Khabib won that fight by a landslide, but it went to a decision, and that in and of itself was an upset.
When I’m looking at a fighter as spectacularly talented as Khabib fighting a guy like Al who is an almost impossible underdog I’m not just looking at this fight, but I’m looking at openings that can possibly be exploited by the best fighters in the division. I saw some of those openings Saturday night, and I certainly found them interesting. In no way am I biased against Khabib, in fact I’m a massive fan of his and he’s one of my all time favorite fighters. If any of you were annoyed by my concentrating on that aspect of an incredibly dominant performance by one of the most impressive guys in the history of the division, please accept my sincere apology.
When I commentate on fights my goal is to highlight the action and make it more exciting for the fans at home. Obviously all this is done live in real time, and if I had to go back and do it again I would often be able to do a better job. Even after all the years I’ve been commentating I still learn something new about the position with each and every event, and when that stops happening that will most likely be when I quit.

Yeah he's insanely talented. I hope he sorta reigns it in a bit though, he's going to get himself Weidman'd with all the spinning and fancy shit, other than that there's no limit for him.

Yeah, but Weidman was out of his element. He merely adopted the spinning shit; Zabit was born in it, molded by it.

His kicks looked more impressive than jon bones. That spinning up kick to the chin was right up therr with pettis cage bounce kick. His hands were AIGHT tho, wasnt too impressed seem to lack snap and power but who knows not on the receiving end. Hes kind of a freak for division, seemed to gas out at end. All in all im excited to welcome our eastern european overlords in all combat sports  :-*  Fueled by class warfare :noah

Joanna Jedrzejczyk still running around claiming she won the fight. Now she's saying Rose's coach told her she won the fight

It was close enough where I could easily score it for JJ (and did) and it wouldn't be a Diaz/Chael type delusion, however yes, it's time to let go JJ.

They need to do something about that in scoring, there is no sense in scoring a takedown where the person getting taken down gets up immediately or pulls the wrestler straight into a guard and works them from below. It's fucking dumb, if they do that then they need to start counting submission attempts as well. That being said the takedown wasnt the difference maker for me.

Great weekend of MMA!

One FC launched an app that will allow you to stream their events free. This will be usefull for the card coming up this weekend ;) There's some full matches available to watch already.

At LFA39 this happened - Rivera vs Royval warning not safe for LIFE finish. Pearl Gonzales won over at Invicta, she's coming on after her horrible UFC run. Highlight of the weekend Uncle Creepy vs The Gooch some controversy here, but god damn.

Bonus: Evil Fedor was in action and in a murderous rage as usual.
Tenshin continues to crush (seriously this guy is fucking amazing)
John Gotti III wins :doge
