Oh man, someone needed to say it. The juxtaposition between Wayne fans shitting on the album and it being on pace to sell nearly 1 million copies in a week tells you everything you need to know about it. This album is no different than anything Wayne has done over the last 4 or so years: a collection of club tracks, gangsta stuff, and love songs for the single ladyz and fellas out there - hell it's not even a white thing (well, outside of How To Love). I've never been a Wayne fan but I thought Carter III was cohesive and featured some nice attempts at "things other than club/lady songs." It was like a typical Jay-Z album with just enough there to make it average but hard to completely dismiss.
My problem with Wayne has always been he's just not interesting and has nothing interesting to say, despite all that charisma. And while he has a rapid fire flow, lyrically he just has nothing. I like some imagination in my gangsta/aggressive/etc. Part of the reason I love Raekwon and Ghost is because they can make the same song tons of times, but each one is so vivid, sometimes hilarious, or imaginative that it's hard not to like. But Wayne just has the same blueprint for everything.
