Fresh Prince is only going to listen to McCartney's worst songs. Are you angry that the Beatles co-opted your people's music?

I'm pretty sure Paul just messed up the line. I could be wrong.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is hilarious because it's so cheesy.  I want it in Beatles Rock Band just to sing.

"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" is tolerable the first two or three times you listen to it. Then you want to murder someone. During this period, I wish George Martin still had some power over the Beatles.

I'd be right to assume that while Lennon wrong Because (listening to it right now), McCarthy composed his own bassline correct. Would that apply to say, Lennon writing She's So Heavy but Harrison writing the guitar solos?

PD, Paul wrote most of the basslines himself. I know Harrison wrote a number of the solos, but I think Lennon and McCartney wrote their own as well. They both performed a number of solos, too.

PD, you're nuts.

It's only not highly regarded in that it's a Beatles album that isn't a :bow Beatles album :bow2

It's not a fully realized concept and several of the songs were effectively butchered by Phil Spector.  It's certainly not bad, though.

It's still a good album, but Let it Be Naked is better.

edit: Phil Spector did make "The Long Winding Road" better.

McCartney's voice sounds so much better on the Naked version, even compared to the remastered original.  I still prefer it for that reason alone.

Some filler but overall it's great. So...it's early but if I had to rate things

White Album>Abbey Road>Sgt Pepper>Rubber Soul>Revolver>Please Please Me

Not a big fan of Abbey Road but here comes the Sun is awesome.

Sgt Pepper & Revolver & Rubber Soul total.

Sgt Pepper gets a flawless victory due to A Day In The Life

At this point in time, I'm going to have to say my favorite Beatles song at this point is either She's Leaving Home, Oh! Darling, or Come Together.

The musical compositions in these songs are amazing. The lyrics are great. The singing excellent.

Instant Karma is still the best post-Beatles song by a Beatle.

Clearly, you never listened to "Wonderful Christmas Time" before. And I just posted a youtube of the song!

Nope.  Pretty sure Paul was sleeping until Say Say Say.  Michael Jackson saved him from retirement, made one fun song and one kinda dull one, and then he went back to sleep.

Abbey Road = White > Sgt. Peppers > Rubber Soul > Revolver > Magical Mystery Tour > Let it Be > A Hard Day's Night > Help! > the rest

Agree with this mostly.  I'm bad at ranking, so mine would probably be

Abbey Road = White > Sgt. Peppers = Rubber Soul = Revolver = Magical Mystery Tour > Let it Be > Hard Day's Night = Help = the rest

repost

Abbey Road > the White Album > Rubber Soul > Revolver > Sgt. Pepper's > Magical Mystery Tour > Let it Be >  Help > A Hard Day's Night > Please Please Me > With the Beatles > Beatles for Sale > Yellow Submarine (barely counts)

Past Masters isn't a real album, but I'd put it somewhere after A Hard Day's Night.

George Harrison was increasingly resentful — while he was treated respectfully by musical colleagues such as Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton, within the Beatles he felt that his songs were either derided or ignored (at one point during the rehearsals, Lennon responded to Harrison demonstrating his new song 'I Me Mine' to him by stating "We're a rock and roll band – run along, boy" and later chose to waltz with Ono, behaviour possibly intended to be a form of mockery, rather than contribute while the other three Beatles attempted to arrange and rehearse the song).
:lol

Listening to Let it Be right now.

I downloaded Rubber Soul in Mono to see if it's worth downloading the rest in Mono.  Just comparing a few songs, in mono the songs feel so different.  Like, with Wait, you have a lot of the vocals and smaller instruments on the right, main instruments from the left.  They actually sounds reasonably differently.  Might be worth it download the songs again in Mono, but I haven't found good links and am too lazy to look.

The more I read on Sgt. Pepper and the more I listen, the more I'm convinced it is the best Beatles album.

It was truly ahead of its time.

Is there a general list of innovations this album brought to music somewhere? Because it seems to have plenty.

I probably have listened to Sgt. Pepper more than any of their other albums - it's my personal favorite (although in terms of overall quality and technical merits, I'd rank them differently).

A Day in the Life is an incredible song.

The mono version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds sounds odd – especially in the chorus.  Did John and Paul sing into a fan?  That's what it sounds like.  The stereo version doesn't sound like that.

I think what you're talking about is a method called varispeeding, where they recorded tracks at different tape speeds.  Maybe that's what I was referring to as well, now that I think about it.

I am directly comparing Stereo and Mono Sgt. Pepper's songs, and mono is way more clear. I cannot make out what they're saying in the vocals at all say, in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (track 1, not the whole album) in stereo but I can in mono.

Yeah Sgt. Pepper's is definitely the weakest stereo mix of their later albums.  I still prefer it over the mono version other than the beginning track and the Reprise.  A Day in the Life makes me wet in stereo.

edit: oh and She's Leaving Home as well, it sounds better in mono.

That's not necessarily true - some of the tracks on the mono version are altogether separate mixes; as in, there's also some stuff in the stereo versions that you can't here in the mono.  You can hardly here George's guitar backing in Lucy in the Sky in mono, whereas it's pretty prominent in the stereo version.  Within You Without You is fantastic in stereo, and I already mentioned how incredible A Day in the Life is either way.

The Beatles are the Beatles of Korea

Quote
Together with the approximately 50,000 sales made by reservation in advance, almost all of the copies allocated for the Korean market were sold out. Initially, Korea imported 70,000 copies.

In Korea, industry sources say fewer than 10 albums sell more than 10,000 copies in a year. In that sad reality of the record industry in Korea, the Fab Four has apparently made a “fabulous comeback” and is rewriting history.
