Yeah, I think I'll get Monkey Island SE at that price.  If you play in classic mode with voices off it'll basically be like owning the original version, right?

Someone got me Unreal Tournament 3?  :-[ :-[ :-[

MDK2 on steam?! I just asked for that the other day! :-*

It's a free UT3 weekend :P

    *  1. Dark Forces - Runs fine on most systems since it's using DosBox. Some users reporting framerate problems due to frame limiter. Most are running fine.
    * 2. Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight - Range of problems from artifacting, to black screen with just a HUD, to being completely unplayable. Even if you can get it working, there will be no music since the original game had CD music and LucasArts hasn't changed anything to allow it to find the music anywhere but from the original game CD in your disc drive.
    * 3. Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith - Same engine as above, same problems
    * 4. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - Fairly recent game, will run well on most systems
    * 5. Jedi Academy - Same as Jedi Outcast

Oh, Lucasarts.

So basically other than Jedi Knight 1 + expansion the rest are ok.  Sucks but at least it doesn't affect them all.  You'd think Lucasarts would beta test each game though  :-\

I love when these companies do reissues because it's like. They just rip the files off a CD and send a .zip to Valve. What the fuck? Come on. Torrents do better than that

I love Steam, but it is bullshit when companies bring out old titles and don't make the necessary fixes to make them work on modern systems.  They should offer full refunds to those who have issues with the games in these situations.

Also, the MDK package is OK but you missed out on the GOG interplay sale.  Bought both of them for 5.99 together with the interplay buy 1 get 1 free special.  Heck you can still buy them both for 12 bucks combined at GoG, and you know the games will work.  For older games, I tend to look at GoG first since I know they will run.

Painkiller Black Edition is 7.99 this week on GoG.

Yeah, that's my biggest complaint about Steam, that Valve just lets these companies half-ass their catalog releases and put out old games that aren't fully compatible with XP/Vista systems. They need some better (or any at all) Quality Assurance.

All the Lucasarts adventure games have a crappy smoothing filter on.  Is there any way to turn that off, or am I just not going to buy anymore of these Lucasarts classic packs?

Screw LucasArts, the independent steampunk point-and-click adventure gaming event of this or any other lifetime is coming to Steam next week: Machinarium.

$15, but it could be worth it.

$26.99 gets you the entire Painkiller franchise, including the upcoming 3rd game. Not sure how good it'll be, not sure how good the 2nd one was (I heard "not very"), but the first one was pretty awesome at the time. Looks like they're still using the same old engine from 2004, but for the price it might be worth it.
