:drudge

Iggles trade McNabb to THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS per Adam Schefter.  Bill Federwang said to be comatose after orgasming repeatedly.  More as it develops.

I don't think I've ever been so happy. 'Skins got him for a 2nd and 3rd or 4th rounder next year? Iggles got fleeced. :lol

Oh my god, my friend from Philly has LOST IT :rofl

The problem is that he doesn't want to stay there and everyone knew it.  So Philly was stuck either trading him now for what they could get or franchising him and probably missing out on getting anything since I doubt anyone gives up a first and a third.

He'll probably end up in AZ after this season anyhow, that's where he lives and Leinart is destined to fail.

Never underestimate the power of Uncle Pennybags. Redskins have been saving a ridiculous amount of cap space. If they get Okung and draft another lineman, and take a few projects deep in the draft, they could actually compete this year.

I say trade Campbell for a third rounder now. Keep Colt and Sexy Rexy.

I tell you, by adding McNabb and a bunch of these old guys, the Redskins kind of remind me of the Rich Gannon era Raiders: a team, if I do recall correctly, was put together largely in part by Bruce Allen, no?

If that means we can get playoff contention for a couple of years and then fall apart dramatically, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I can't believe the Eagles traded McNabb to the Redskins, this is just hilarious. :lol If Kevin Kolb sucks/gets hurt, Philly is going to implode.

lolz, apparently McNabb basically strong armed the Iggles into trading him to only Washington.

He refused to talk to Buffalo about a contract extension and apparently threatened to retire if traded to Oakland.  :lol

This is a pretty awesome move. I speculate that one, if not all of the following players will be traded for draft picks and/or players:

Andre Carter, Jason Campbell, Chris Cooley

... the only one I'd be sad about is Cooley, because Fred Davis is a beast but Cooley can actually block. The fact that the Redskins signed a blocking TE this offseason implies he'll be dealt around the draft.

But - hey! - they draft Okung and grab some quality players late in the draft, make some key pickups (sign Flozell, now!) and whip some underachievers into shape (Portis!)... the 'Skins can actually compete next season. McNabb changes a lot.

Willie Parker is a long shot to make the roster, Triumph. He is really just there to make Portis compete for his spot, which I doubt he loses to Larry Johnson or Willie Parker. Either way, the Redskins will have a veteran presence and Shanahan will draft some unknown and that kid will run for a billion yards - just like in Denver.

The interesting thing to me at least, is does this mean that Shanny has given up on QB prospects in this year's draft since he couldn't get Bradford? Is he going to ride McNabb for the next couple of seasons, and try and draft someone next year to groom under him?

Nah, word on the mean streets is all the Tebow stuff is a smoke screen and the guy that you've heard absolutely nothing about from Shanny's camp is the one they covet: Colt McCoy.

I remember last draft everyone said "meh, this QB crop is weak, can't wait for next year's crop!" Next year came, Bradford looked decent/got hurt, McCoy didn't impress/got hurt, Clausen impressed/didn't lead ND anywhere, and Tebow was Tebow.

Despite that, seems like the Rams are going with a QB. Perfectly fine with me. :bow

Both Bradford and McCoy seem to have done pretty well in the pro day workout.

Yeah, Bradford will be the first overall pick and McCoy is a sleeper. I see Campbell being shipped off to the Raiders for a draft pick. Haynesworth was trade bait in the McNabb trade, which means he could be shipped. Andre Carter is coming off one of his most productive seasons, but he doesn't fit with the 3-4 defense and I see him being shipped. Cooley is also expendable, simply because we have more pressing needs.

Between those players, I see the Redskins coming up with McCoy and Okung the first two rounds. I imagine they'll draft another lineman or two, a running back and/or DL. I imagine Darren Sharper and Flozell Adams will be signed in due time.

This also means that Shanny is hedging his bets on the team being competitive for about three years, then passing off a rebuilding project to his son.

I'm not sold on McCoy. If Bradford is healthy I think he can be good

Clausen has bust written all over him imo. Maybe I just hate ND though, but I watched him for three years

Man, now that McNabb is a Redskin, NFC East matchups are gonna even more awesome (as if they weren't already). My gawd. McNabb playing first string? Or is going to play the role of Drinky trollin' Tebow but still imparting crucial knowledge.
