yeah, playing NG2 before it is a good idea...after all, if you force yourself to play something shitty as hell before this game, it'll make it all the more fun. :smug

yeah, you get ingredients from breaking stuff.  there's 3 colors-- red, yellow, green.  you use them to make health potions (green herbs), something that raises your strength, and another that raises your defense, I think.  the last two are temporary.

I'm starting to get my ass seriously kicked, so I've been grinding to get all the techniques and stuff.  A lot of the regular enemies are like bosses from other games...agni and rudra are regular enemies in this. :lol

Play other games while you're waiting for this because nothing else will ever be fun again.  It's basically DMC4, if Kamiya had made it.  DMC4 actually feels like more of a spin-off in retrospect compared to this game.  And of course, the Bayonetta/Jeanne scenes are totally dante and virgil.

 :pimp

And what you have played so far is absolutely nothing in comparison to what's coming later.   8)

just fought the chapter 7 boss.

game of the gen.

I got all the techniques, but now I'm looking at these accessories, which look like they're going to make the combat even deeper.  If you can equip 3 at once and each one has it's own technique/attribute, then you're basically making DMC styles out of the accessories (looks like there's about 20 you can buy.) Some of them have DMC-esque techniques, like royal guard type shit. In other words, it has a customizable style system.  Jesus fucking christ  :smug

There's one that activates witch time automatically whenever you get hit...I would skip that one unless you have trouble with witch time timing.  The Moon of Maaha Kaala (sp?) should be the first one you get.  Start saving up halos. :)

i was referring to kranzes post about ice skates

but yeah, it is, think about it, action games have 3 things:

art style, stupid story, and weapons

knowing about all the weapons and items before you play through the game can suck the fun out of it

ok now im out for reals

The katana has been mentioned in most of the reviews so I thought it'd be OK to mention it.  I guess you're right, though.  Being surprised by the weapons you get was part of the fun of my playthrough.

Does someone know what exactly taunts do?

I am on ch 9(hard) and it just hit me,why i am not using taunts?!

I have found something on gamefaqs that explains some things,
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=946346&topic=52473093

Has anybody here has been experimenting with taunts?

Taunts make enemies angry (you'll notice that they'll start looking like they're on fire).  They'll become faster and harder to beat.

there's an achievement for beating 5 devil triggered enemies without getting hit that doesn't seem to be working.  I taunt enemies in every fight (you get more combo points for beating taunted enemies) and it hasn't worked yet.  I'm wondering if it's 5 in a row (that would be a more fun achievement.)

which ones did you get in easy mode?  (also, the pic was just in general, not at you specifically...just in case heh)

at this point I'm trying to do alright, but I'm using items and stuff; only grinded to get the parrying armlet. I die a couple times a chapter. Those enemies that are a combination of Agni+Rudra+the electric demons from DMC4 always get me.  I just wanna beat the game once so I can get the menu option that shows you all your chapter scores at once.  Then shit is on.

The armlet that lets you parry is fucking great!  :bow Third Strike :bow2

and if that's a weapon spoiler, then maybe it's time for a proper bayonetta thread that people can steer clear of.

The naughty tentacles one (just because the tentacles show up at around 3/4 of the level and I didn't want to fight seriously just to get to that point) and the 'fire all afterburners' pure platinum one in chapter XIV verses 1 & 2.

Yeah, I fucking HATE that duo of demons.

They are fucking hard, though they attack a lot, so it's easy to get witch time.  the basic PKP combo decimates them pretty fast...you won't get a good grade for the fight, but you'll survive.

I think my favorite enemies are the chicks who are like Nicchae and Ishtaros from NG.  It's cool that there are so many references to past action games!   I hope this sells well so we get a sequel.
