There are two reasons PS3 games lag behind:

1) Programmers do a majority of the debugging on the 360, because it's right in Visual Studio, and it's easier, so they never care about the PS3 as long as it is running. (Read: LAZY) That's also why a lot of Wii games are ass, when they're on all 3.

2) Producers tell you what to do and ignore PS3 issues and just work on the game and they get patched later on, in a rush.

Neither of them are directly Sony's fault. They CAN'T patch directly into Visual Studio. 360 will always be easier to debug on for people who never want to learn to use the SN Debugger. (Even though it syncs breakpoints right from VS)

It takes a good producer to make something other than the 360 the 'lead' sku.

It's like 20fps in the actual level

it's playable, but holy shit. The boss fight (not the statue, the part after with the chick) is almost a solid 60fps. The graphics aren't all that hot, but the animation is really fucking nice. Style-wise, it seems every bit of "lol japan" as the trailers have lead us to believe...cheesy music, way too much sexual innuendo for a 15 minute demo, a taunt move where she says "you wanna touch me?" while striking a pose....

The action is like a combination of DMC + NG. It's really fast and loose, she reacts to like every touch of the controller, like Ryu, but with a lot less gravity and really high launches/jumps. You get weapons after doing finishing moves. They seem stronger than normal attacks. You can go hand to hand or use her Katana. There seems to be a fuckton of combos. The chick boss fight is a lot of fun, since you run all over the walls.

Seems like it'll be a legitimate new hardcore action IP. but man, the framerate...

Hope it's a solid 60fps on the 360.

1st impressions:
-Game runs fine on PS3. It's not a perfect locked 60fps every second of the time but that's what the superior X360 version is for. Game is usually smooth and perfectly playable on the PS3 though.

-Can't tell if combat is good because the demo is too easy. The slow motion after dodge thing is cool but it seems like it could be too good.

-Picking up weapons are cool even if they only have two moves. Throw back to Final Fight era I guess

-Boss fights were the best part. Like a mix of DMC and God of War in a good way. Basically what NG tried to do with all its big bosses and usually failed at.

-QTEs were lame.

-Main character and he moves are fucking embarrasing.

other than occasional framedrops and some tearing I don't see what the big deal is. I haven't seen any X360 vids to compare but the PS3 version runs fine if it's your only system. If I hadn't heard all the bitching about the "terrible" PS3 version I wouldn't have even noticed anything besides "yeah it doesn't run at a locked 60fps".

I'm getting the X360 version for the locked 60fps, but I think people are really exaggerating how poor the PS3 version runs.

I can see it being exaggerated, but I wouldn't say that the PS3 version seems "aight" until I saw the difference for myself.

No dual system owner who's sane is going to get it on PS3. Everybody knows this.

If a PS3 only owner plays the demo and never sees the SUPERIOR X360 VERSION he'd think the PS3 version was fine and totally playable and a day 1 buy.

I'm not saying it's "fine" as compared to the not-here-x360-version; I'm saying it's "fine" compared to every other game on the market and the bar for a playable framerate vs a broken framerate. It's definitely running over 30fps and that sure beats out most games on the PS3 and we don't call those "terrible" and "unplayable" and "broken".

I haven't played the 360 demo and can only compare with videos, but the PS3 version definitely seems like it's missing a lot. Frame rate, aliasing and tearing all seemed pretty bad. Not saying the 360 version couldn't have these problems, but that wouldn't exactly make the PS3 version suddenly have better performance.

Confirming that the PS3 version-

-Has blurry visuals.
-Has muddy textures.
-Has aliasing issues.
-Has a frame rate that is never a constant 30fps.

I'm no graphics whore, but all of this was instantly noticeable on my 1080p monitor. I do agree about none of this affecting the game play, but there's no way I'd get this version over the 360 version, assuming that everything that's been said about it is true. If only Sega had let Platinum Games polish this version up.

I do, but I also have a Japanese 360, and I'm importing that version. Like I said, no dual system owner who is sane is going to get this on PS3. If I didn't have a Japanese 360, I'd definitely wait for the American version.

I am sure that the game has its problems,but if 30-60 fps is unplayable then 99.9% of the games released this gen on consoles are nothing than a little faster slideshow.

It's cute that you guys are focused on the fps issue like hawks, and if that was the only issue I might be inclined to agree with you. But what about:

I think it's pretty obvious that there's more than just some fps inconsistency going on here. I know Lyte irl and he's certainly not a biased console warrior or anything, so I'm forced to believe him here. Now, no one here has played the 360 version yet but from all accounts it's superior. Who is saying the game is unplayable? We're saying the game has visual problems that should not be there. The fact that despite its graphical issues, people are still enjoying the demo really says how good the game is.

Again, no fanboy console crap is going on here. It's just another case of Sega fuckin' up.

Not having played the X360 version or seen any vids of it, I just assumed the game was supposed to look like shit in terms of IQ.

The only media I ever saw were the first released pics which were all jaggy as hell with worse graphics than DMC.

Should be happily surprised at the X360 version

I haven't watched the video yet but I think the PS3V looks fine. But I can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps, so don't listen to me. As for the game....HOLY FUCKING SHIT I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME.

What sucks is that since this most likely the final version of the game, some of the JP players may not want to pick it up because of the graphical issues and the since the PS3 version will easily be the highest seller one. It may hurt sales :'(

The move list is very canned compared to DMC4. There was no difference based on either the sword or the guns. Even the demo vid of her using the whip and claws looked the same. Maybe Bayonetta isn't better than DMC4 after all
