This is weird because there was this thread about the game many months ago and I remember saying I was disappointed the concept art wouldn't be doable on the Wii.

It was heavily hinted to be a Wii exclusive, but never confirmed.

It's on Wii, and Wii sucks. Even if the game is alright, it will still suck a bit since it's on Wii. I also remember the last Warren Spector game I played that was developed with a focus on more popular, underpowered systems and for an audience that favored simplicity. It wasn't great.

Yes, I remember that Deus Ex IW point from when I made it first. You're still judging the game without knowing anything about it except for the concept art (which you like) and the hardware it's running on. That's really lame, dude.

I like the concept art based on proper rendition, loathe the platform and have less than great confidence in the director. That's plenty of reason to be judgmental of the game.

If the game is designed well and uses the strengths of the system to its advantage, how is that at all a bad thing? If this looks as well as Galaxy and has a fun concept, it should be great.

Thanks for the list. That is an impressive pedigree, but most of those games come from an era that I never participated in, which explains why I never really noticed him. It seems odd he would go from Deus Ex to Mickey Mouse, but I'm sure the game will turn out to be good.

I agree, it's quite unfortunate that it's not a PC exclusive, but those are getting so rare from the big companies these days. :'(

I don't know. This is Warren Spector. The man, who on Deus Ex 2, ADMITTED that the level design suffered because it had to work on the Xbox AND PC, then one paragraph later said the game would have been EXACTLY the same if it was on the PC only. Also, he thought a circular-based UI wasn't a waste of space on a rectangular screen. Additionally he said he didn't dumb down the game to make it more accessible for console players, just that the original was too complicated. He also said he'd always wanted to make a console game, by somehow bastardizing one of the best PC games of all time.

Up to DX1 is more of a fluke than anything else. The guy doesn't deserve the praise he gets.

Gameplay programming on Up (PS3, 360 and Wii) and UI stuff for Spongebob Truth or Square (360 and Wii).

Up turned out ok, although everyone wishes games had more time, especially when Pixar bumped up the release 2 months earlier than planned. The game was short was the biggest complaint, which I'm fine with. I just wish the cave level or Kevin chase scene made it in. None of the reviews bitched about anything I worked on, which made me feel good. It was vastly improved from Wall-E, which I had no hand in.

I have less faith in Spongebob. But once again, any of the complaints won't be in things I worked on.

The studio didn't get shut down, yet, but I DID get laid off in August because we lost a project and let's be honest, the economy is terrible.

I have a new job now, though.

That's pretty much how I feel.

It would have been nice to play it on hardware powerful enough to do capture the concept art better (PC/360/PS3), but hey, maybe the in-game style is very different anyway, or the game would just suck on any platform. If it's a good game, I'll play it on whatever platform. Only the most autistic of the Nintendo fans would pretend like they wouldn't want this on more powerful hardware.

I can get over bad graphics unless the performance is poor. The reason why it's a bit more annoying in this case is because the only thing there is to go on is how the game might look based on the concept art.
