I thought I See You was pretty awesome wtf

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Walt surrounded by cops, staying cool as fuck. Consoling his sister in law while Skylar feels a rush of emotions. Mexican Twin dude crawling out his bed. Gus going from "local drug distributor" to "Black Michael Corleone" etc

Hank :(

I didn't dislike it, just saying that there's little more plot development than in Fly and the pacing is equally measured in comparison to the rest of the season. I can't recall a single tense moment, either. Though I guess it did have the

crawling scene and chilling badassery from Gus

To me, it feels like the show takes its own damn time doing anything but the reasons are pretty apparent and logical so it doesn't feel like a waste of time when you see two characters just talking to each other versus blowing up a meth den and kidnapping a lawyer.

I'm watching The Lost Room, having picked it up after Patel recommended it some time ago. It's a fun, almost light follow-up to Fringe. Actually, I wish Fringe did some of the clever stuff that have cropped up during some moments of The Lost Room. Instead of inventing a new, bogus technology to deal with a new, bogus technology, Fringe could benefit from occasionally saying, "Oh, it works this way? Then we should be able to do this unexpected thing with it as well."

starting watching Fringe giving it a second chance.  it's pretty fun from the second episode.

i know the season 2 stuff thanks to wilco, but i'm curious to see how it gets there
It's a fun ride, and I'm not convinced it's going to be the final twist in the series. I mean, look at Stross' Merchant Princes series. I don't think the observer's statement is as limited as it is currently assumed to be.

I watched the end of The Lost Room last night. I'm not seeing it mentioned in Wikipedia, but the unresolved plot threads make it clear that they were hoping to extend the miniseries into a regular series, or possibly into a second miniseries. There are so many unresolved plotlines, they must have been planning on working them out in later stories.

  • The forensics doctor, Martin Ruber, escaping capture by both law enforcement and The Order of the Reunification, and claiming to be The Prophet.
  • The fate of the Legion, having lost many or all of its members (likely just a single active cell), through the betrayal of its leader; why and how did this happen?
  • Resolving the murder of Joe's partner, so Joe can get his daughter into a normal life; I suspect Joe spends the rest of his life on the run, like David Banner in the old Incredible Hulk TV series.
  • "There is more than one Room."
  • Returning Montague's car. ;-)
  • The return of The Key... typical "there may be a sequel" ending shot.
[close]
The show's mythology is rich, and though The Event which creates The Objects is effectively a McGuffin in the miniseries, it at least feels like there is a reason or multiple reasons for things being the way they are.

It would be neat if the series continued in comic or novel format, but it also seems like the kind of show that isn't hugely expensive to make. A lot of the magic happens off camera, to greater effect.

Anyway, it was pretty freakin' great. Check it out if you liked Carnivale.

Watched the first two seasons of True Blood on FiOS On Demand in roughly a week's time a couple of weeks ago.  Good show.  I really wanna start watching The Wire, because I hear it's incredible, but I'm gonna wait until they're airing it from the first episode (right now they're airing eps 20-30).

Yes. There havew been lots of complaints about the final season but that doesn't change the fact that the older seasons were quite consistent. IMO the only real weak point of S1-S4 is the first half of S3

Dawg Days was kinda ridiculous with the rapper gangsters, but had its moments.

Overall I'm liking the show. I was watching Homicide a few weeks ago, and while I liked it, I couldn't help comparing it to The Wire constantly in my head. It's a straight up police show, focusing entirely on the cops, not many of which are particularly interesting; one or two cops gets the spotlight each episode, but I didn't care much. The Shield avoids that by having some interesting characters wearing the badge.

I think to enjoy Homicide you have to always keep in mind that it was a procedural cop show on a network - when compared to Law & Order and the like, you really see it's greatness. I only caught it sparingly when it was on (IIRC, it always aired Friday nights, not a prime slot for TV during my high-school  years), but it was the best thing going at the time. I've always been meaing to pick up David Simon's book that it's based on.

Huh. I watched the first six episodes and could NOT deal with it. I halfway feel like the entire reason the novel John Dies in the End was written was because Supernatural does it wrong, and takes itself way too seriously. The last season came out on DVD here, and it seems like they get into biblical demon/angel stuff, which is interesting. But the cheese level is more than I can navigate enjoyably.

the whole formula of the thing is driving me crazy.  i'm somewhat interested in the overall mythology, but at the end of disc 2 season one, it's "oh this guy died this way?  well BY COMPLETE COINCIDENCE, I JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THAT SEVERAL DECADES AGO.  HOW LUCKY"  also "IT ALL COMES BACK TO THIS ONE COMPANY ALWAYS"

Meh, I only like shows where supernatural stuff happens. I hate shows like 24, CSI, Grey's Anatomy etc. Dexter sounds interesting, though.
