Watched the first episode of Luck and really dug it. They nicely set the initial weave for the whole horse racing environment nicely. Hoffman as Ace has more gravitas than Buscemi as Nucky.
The interactions between Hoffman and Farina are gold. And watching how "Ace" treats the rest of the world in contrast has also been engaging.
The Dysfunctional Four are sometimes good and entertaining, but mostly it's like watching a train wreck in slo-mo. My sister was asking, "Where did they get all that money? Oh, right, they won the Pick-Six..." Then I pointed out that they had made a big deal about wondering how to collect the money, how to keep it low key and off the tax-man's radar, etc. So my assumption is that a few of them told loan sharks that they won, and borrowed against that collateral, which is where their current cash came from. And I'm guessing that claiming their winnings and/or dealing with the loans is going to be another focus later on in the show.
