The Mavericks have really been rolling since they traded Howard [who is now out for the season ] and threw Dampier under the bus.

The Mavs didn't throw him under the bus; he's been injured. But when he comes back, he won't see a lot of playing time. Haywood has been very impressive. What a lopsided trade.

Dirk Nowitzki garned the Western Conference's Player for the Week award.

It's his second of the year and 12th of his career.

Nowitzki led the Mavericks (39-21 overall) to wins against Indiana, L.A. Lakers, Atlanta and New Orleans. The 7-footer averaged a league-best 31.8 points (.548 FG, .667 3FG, .971 FT), including 12.0 points in the fourth quarter, to go with 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He made 33 of his 34 attempts from the free throw line and saw a streak of 41 consecutive makes snapped in the third quarter of Sunday's New Orleans game.

I almost feel like the Mavs have a chance against the Lakers.

He technically threw himself under the bus. But when he lifts himself back up, the Mavs will throw him right back under there.

Brendan Haywood's been one of the most underrated players in the league the last few years.

But yeah, I didn't know how good he is. Amazing defensive player and he can actually catch the ball, unlike Dampier.

The guys at the ESPN Radio affiliate out of Dallas are already saying that Haywood is the best center the Mavs have ever had.
