Met one of the bride's friends.  Shy, but really cute.  I chat with her for much of the evening, she seems to dig me.  Repeatedly casting glances at me, laughing at my lame jokes, following me to my group, and mild flirting back and forth.  Can't get her on to the dance floor though, she just doesn't dance.

Anyway, close to the end of the night, I tell her that since she doesn't dance, she should give me her number and we can find something she would like to do.

aaaand she say that I seem like a good guy, but she's had some bad experiences.  Her last boyfriend is in prison.  So she's taking a "break."  But I seem like a good guy.

Another friend of a friend.   Asked her out in January, went on one date.  Went quite well, made out a bit.

Then, unfortunately, the Olympics hit, automatic six week hiatus.  I get back though, and fire off a text asking her out for the next day.  Late notice, I know.  She fires back saying she's working late, when else am I free?

I offer last thursday.  She said she's busy.
I offer Sunday, she said she's busy.

And from there, you simply force yourself to ask questions of everyone you meet, through friends, or random people you sit beside in class.  Or the random people you meet in a hot tub in Whistler.  Or on a chairlift going up a ski hill.  For the latter, I mean, you're stuck with this stranger for the next 5-10 minutes, my philosophy is, you might as well fuckin' talk to them.

Yes, being a Mountie is an advantage, because it's an instant conversation-starter if someone asks what you do.  Strangely, and unfortunately, however, I find that men have much better and more interesting questions for me when finding out my career than do women.  Random guys, young and old, will ask insightful, penetrating questions about what I do and my opinions on various police-related topics.

3:50am here, and I'm not tired. Despite working all day on a damn water heater. The old one at my place had rusted to shit, and it was only a matter of time before it ruptured. So me and my dad got rid of it and added a new one...only problem is we didn't have enough tubing for hot water to pump into the tube. For some reason we tried making a tube out of duct tape, which looked pretty solid until we turned the pilot light on, and the shit started melting and we began to smell gas. 

By that time the hardware places were closed, so we called it a day. No hot water for my shower tomorrow. We'll get it done tomorrow afternoon

Deciding whether to make an escalation move, like holding her hand or going in for the kiss, can be kinda nerve-wracking. I still get nervous doing it sometimes unless the signals are painfully obvious. But looking back over the years, my success rate has been really high, and nothing really bad happened in the instances where I was rejected. If she rejects your kiss attempt, you weren't getting anywhere with her anyway. I think you should really just go for it when in doubt.
