Online or retail shopping gaming deals thread
« on: December 18, 2009, 02:14:41 PM »
I didn't see one of these even though I think there is a steam thread on here somewhere. But it might be useful to have a thread just for any online deals on any platform (including PC or digital distribution) that could be posted since everyone likes saving money. (Or using gamefly I suppose).

Any way Left 4 Dead 2 (360) is 40 bucks currently on Amazon. The amazon deals generally don't last very long.

Metroid Prime Trilogy is gonna be $20 at best buy on Sunday.

gonna get this for my parents' Wii.  That's a fucking great deal, even if it's just to play MP1 and 2 again.

If someone finds Forza 3 again for $39.99 again pleast post that. I dicked around and didn't jump on it when it was at that price at ebgames. Now I have to continually waste a GameFly slot to keep renting it and keeping it out.  :maf

I bought it at the full retail price, and having never played a MP game I'm really digging it (except for the half-pipe stuff, I can never get my timing down so it's kind of a misery whenever I have to do those parts).  The "pointer" controls work really well and are very accurate.  For $20 it's a must-buy if anyone has ever had any interest at all in the series.

only bought Vegas 2 and Jedi Academy for $5 each so far.  Considering Indigo Prophecy for $4 since I never played it and deciding where I should get Machinarium (Steam is $10 and easiest to manage, Impulse is $7 but I have no clue what that is, direct from the creator website is $10 and includes soundtrack + another game...but the download system for that sounds awful since it's only within the first 14 days)

btw, best deal that I'd buy if I didn't have it for XBLA is Outrun 2 for $2.50

The PC version of Outrun 2 is a lot better (it has twice as many tracks I believe), but it doesn't have online play IIRC. I'd say it's well worth picking up if you're a fan of the game.

WANT.

I'm actually kind of tempted at the elder scrolls pack for some reason. I already have everything from Morrowind, but have never played Oblivion on PC and kind of want. there's just too much stuff I haven't played that I could grab on the cheap to buy the ES pack.

Someone should make a list of every essential game that is a steal at some discounted price.  Then you can glance through it and see what you don't already own and grab it if you're interested during the sale :)

Have an ATI card so physx is no real selling point. How is the control beter than with control pad? Also the console versions didn't have AA?

It's technically an FPS so KB+M is slightly more accurate than a controller.
I think the X360 version had 2x AA?  It looks amazing if you can get good AA at a high res with it.  Since it's a game about speed running and stuff the 60fps is nice too.

I mean it's still the same game, but if you want to replay it and you have a decent spec computer, might as well replay it on PC.

Outrun 2 is surprisingly playable with just the keyboard.

and some guy made a spreadsheet (lol) that shows individual game cost and how big the savings are:  http://spreadsheets.google.com/lv?key=takFEFyWT5EfFYxerxuOA6w&toomany=true

also, I'm actually considering GTA4.  I'm checking on some mods and there are some that fix the handling of vehicles.
