I think this will change. I thought the premiere was "okay", but had a lot of great segments (Morgan, Big Mike, Cheese Poofs, Casey, etc.) and a lot of the fan squabbling is warranted. But Schwartz's bullpen is cognizant of fan complaints, and I think they will address them.

I am still upset that Superman will be making the moves on Sarah, though!

... so what's the over/under on Chuck turning into a bad guy?

I think it's a pretty much foregone conclusion at this point. Even the powers-that-be seem to be somewhat frightened of what he will become. I imagine after Brandon Routh steals Sarah, breaks his heart and something else tragic happens (maybe he learns he's indirectly responsible for Emmitt's death?), all it'll take is a pretty Ring agent with a shoulder to cry on to turn him against everyone.

Don't get your hopes up. Let's see how the season pans out. I didn't think the first two episodes were as good as the final stretch of Season 2, but they were going with a full head of steam. Who knows if they'll be able to recapture that energy.

If you excluded the special 3D episode, you have to go all the way back to 2007 to find a "Chuck" episode rated this high. "Chuck" also improved 58% (!!) on its "Dateline" lead-in and was up 21% compared to last season's average.

The action-drama, which was barely renewed and at one point NBC considered airing the show on Friday nights, posted some of NBC's best scripted drama numbers this season.
