I still believe GS is trolling us, that nerdy scientist thing can't be serious.
That was one fucking gaffe, you idiot. One fucking sentence I wrote without even thinking about it because I couldn't remember the name of a character. You can find other posts I've made where I said that Jeremy Renner should win the Best Actor award for his role as the bomb defuser. Where the fuck are all the sarcastic posts saying "Glen's favorite acting job of the year, the deepest and most memorable, the bomb defuser!"? Oh right, those ones don't exist because people liked that movie. How about the times when I referred to George Clooney's character in Up in the Air simply as "George Clooney"? Couldn't remember his name either. No one even batted an eye at that. But Mandark makes one fucking pun, and now anyone who disagrees with me on Avatar has an easy straw man that they can just move down the field.
Thinking Avatar should win an Oscar is the equivalent of thinking Wii Sports is the best game of the generation Glen.
Why is that? At least Avatar is good. How about "you have your opinion and I have mine"? Why is that concept so difficult on this forum? It's not enough to express that you didn't like a film. No, anyone who did like it has to be wrong. Anyone who did like it must be an idiot who has never seen a good movie in his life. And even if he has seen a fuckload of great films from all genres and all time periods and has posted about them on this very forum, apparently he must have been asleep or stoned when watching them because it's IMPOSSIBLE that anyone who has watched films like 2001 or Yojimbo or The Searchers could ever like Avatar.

It's ridiculous. It's like the "No one who has played a PC shooter could ever like Halo" argument, except even stupider. This incessant, pathological need to be right, and beyond that, to actively insult the people who you think are "wrong" is why this forum only has like 30 fucking active members.
It's fucking weird that the person I have the most respect for in this thread is am nintenho. He apparently hated Avatar just as much as Willco, but he doesn't make it personal. He doesn't insult the people he disagrees with. His posts about the movie are about the movie and nothing else. He doesn't spam ad hominems like crazy just because someone liked a movie that he didn't like. But for the rest of you, it's like you think the fact that you didn't like Avatar somehow makes you smarter, or a better critic, or reaffirms the importance of your opinions (it doesn't). Fuck off with your self-importance. You're one person with an opinion, and someone who liked Avatar is another.
I try, but this guy keeps trying to shift talk from the actual movie to how other people also liked the movie. Wotta conundrum!
At this point I've explained exactly why I think Avatar deserves its Oscar nominations numerous times on this forum, Mandark. Clearly you disagree with me, so why not leave it at that and talk about other movies you liked in 2009?
