My review based on reading FAQs, listening to the soundtrack, and watching most of the cutscenes and big battles on youtube
soundtrack is great

hamauzu

story is, uh, not as shit as you cynics are making it out to be, I think some of the character interaction is well done, although the later part makes no sense but is kind of cool anyway from, like, a thematic or symbolic POV, but is still dragged down by the not making a lick of logical sense bit
visual design is awesome, fuck the haters. i love elaborate overdesigned art-director-masturbation shit
game system is very cool in core concept, sometime I will write a mini-essay on why the AI system is brilliant and is actually a significant paradigm shift (lulz) for how AI in games is treated. however, they don't appear to do enough with the game system, certainly not enough to fill 50 hours or whatever. i'm glad i don't have to waste my time playing this. and of course them paring everything down to battles and cutscenes doesn't help either. and the fact that there's no attrition, though they maybe get a point or two for trying something that's in some sense fundamentally different however misguided and wrong-headed, doesn't exactly lead to more possibilities for interesting dynamics
so overall I give it a 6/10.
