This was posted few days ago, mass market can be incredibly stupid sometimes, not that i blame them much, tons of people are not good with tech and this online thingy
Quote
Dawn Matthews enters her card details on Xbox 360, kid goes nuts on DLC

Let's get this straight before we even get to the details – this is definitely Microsoft's fault. Not the kid's for spending all the money. Not the mum's for letting her child have access to her bank card. Dispel thoughts of bad parenting. Ignore the incorrect aspect ratio of the Xbox 360 in the picture above.

Close your eyes, breathe deeply and become one with the Mail Online.

The UK's moral bastion The Daily Mail has harrowing news of Brendan Jordan who is the latest victim of money-grabbing Micro$oft following its ploy to rob him and his mother of over £1,000.

£1,082.52, in fact. That's how much young Brendan Jordan spunked on his mum's bank card after she input the details onto his Xbox 360.

"When I put my card details in 18 months ago I thought it was just for his membership to play online with his friends," traumatised and impoverished Dawn Matthews – mother, sales executive and part-time singer – told the paper.

"I work two jobs just to look after my family and pay the bills so I cannot afford all these extortionate charges."

Which is perhaps why she never has time to check her bank statements.

"A thousand pounds isn't that much to people like Bill Gates, but for a single mum it is a lot of money that I don't have," she added, fighting back the tears and trying to cover the mental scars of corporate abuse.

"The bank and Microsoft are blaming each other and no one is helping me. It has taken me ages to permanently get rid of my card details from the website. It was only when I made a complaint that they took all my details off."

Microsoft responded by saying that parental control functions are present on the console to prevent kids doing exactly this. But did Steve Ballmer come round himself and show Dawn how to do it personally?

Did he ****!

"Brendan is 11 and knows his times tables but it was only when I explained to him that he realised how much money he had spent," Dawn added. "When I showed him he burst into tears. He unplugged the Xbox and said he didn't want it anymore.

"I haven't punished him because he feels bad enough and I know he won't do it again. It is ridiculous to allow someone of his age to make payments without any checks being done. When he is in gaming mode he can't be thinking about the money. You can't put all that responsibility on a young boy.

"It is impossible to monitor everything your children do. These companies should take some responsibility. They take advantage of vulnerable people."

That's right. When Brendan is in gaming mode it's utterly unreasonable that he should be expected to think cognitively. That's totally fair. At least selling the Xbox 360 on eBay will go some way to recouping the £1,000.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/42936/Mother-bemoans-sons-1000-XBL-bill

and this probably got reported everywhere,i already see parents saying "did you see the news, you are not going online with your xbawks anymore"

Sound pretty Hollywood to me. Suicide Mission for example is textbook trademark Hollywood "this is supposed to be tense so let's have like heavy drums and trombones blaring at 3/4 time.

Jump Drive, half of the song is like some generic "IT'S GLOOMY SCI-FI TIME" and then a bunch of DUN. DUN. DUN. DUN'S pop in.

The original however, had an amazing blend of Hollywood and melody focused songs.

The bombastic action scene tracks are a bit on the generic side [at times], but that's ignoring, like, a good 50% or more of the soundtrack [which sounds really, really good more often than not].

I mean, the Thane theme is as good as any those ME1 tracks you posted. Go give that a listen.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Activision Blizzard has confirmed that it has axed the Guitar Hero and True Crime franchises in a refocusing of its business.

In an earnings release the publisher released few details about the ramifications those change might have, but revealed that development on the planned releases of both games had discontinued.

"...due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing's Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011," read a statement. "The company also will stop development on True Crime: Hong Kong. These decisions are based on the desire to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world's best interactive entertainment experiences."

Meanwhile the company detailed its Q4 and calendar 2010 fiscal performance, announced a new studio for Call of Duty plus plans to take the shooter franchise to China, and elaborated in more detail on the numbers and costs of the likely job losses.

Original Story

Activision is expected to announce a major entrenchment in its fourth quarter earnings call today, scaling back or shelving the long running Guitar Hero franchise and axing a number of jobs at UK developer FreeStyleGames.

The publisher will focus the majority of development and marketing on its two core businesses - the Call of Duty franchise and Blizzard's StarCraft and World of Warcraft brands, sources have told GamesIndustry.biz.

True Crime: Hong Kong, in development at United Front Games since at least 2009, is also expected to be axed.

Earlier this year Activision confirmed it was closing Blur studio Bizarre Creations. In the music market the Guitar Hero series has suffered diminishing returns while the Tony Hawk sports brand has all but collapsed at retail.

Late last year Activision's Eric Hirshberg admitted that the company needed to focus on its core strengths, and calling time on projects and staff was an uncomfortable necessity.

"You have to make some tough decisions sometimes," he said.

"Sometimes, really talented people get caught up in those, unfortunately. We have to manage our slate; we have to decide which genres and categories we want to try to compete in."

Further details on cost-cutting are expected to be announced during the companies fourth quarter earnings call in the next few hours.

TL;DR: True Crime: Hong Kong is confirmed dead. Oh, and Guitar Hero.

Seems like there's plenty of great tracks on there to me. *shrugs*

Edit: And my point isn't to suggest that 50% of the ME2 soundtrack is good and 50% isn't, it's more to wonder why you're so vehemently against the ME2 when a good 50% of the soundtrack [if not more] is pretty much exactly what you're accusing it of not being!

Thought I'd give PS+ a try for the three-month package.  I wanted to check out Stacking, and there are around four other "free" games this month.  Considering I never replay 90% of the games I buy, I'm just going to look at it as rental fees.

That's exactly what it is.  It's gamefly for digital stuff and it's a grab bag that you don't get to pick from.  But you get to enjoy the games from start to finish, rack up the trophies from them, and keep permanently all the themes, avatars, demos, and anything you buy at discount (full games, dlcs), so it might be worth it.

I went for the 15 month for $50 because I wanted to give it as long as possible to see if it can pay for itself.  I'm guessing the majority of the stuff will suck and I'll never get to it, but there should still be some neat games.  I'm not buying ANYTHING day 1 on PSN anymore though so I can wait and see if it becomes a free PSN game down the line.  Bionic Rearmed 2, Explodeman, etc...all wait and see now.  If they go on sale for cheap I'll grab them, but no more day 1s.  I want to get my free crap out of this.

Not right now.

The only game discounts are 50% of Fat Princess PS3/PSP, a few bucks of the SNK neo-geo ports, a few bucks of the import ps1 titles and a few bucks of some shovelware.  Most full game downloads are around $20-30 for old ass games with a 60 min free trial.

Right now the free games are:
-Stacking
-Digger HD
-Spyro 2 (PS1)
-2 reject looking minis

Apparently Magician Lord (neo geo) & Lead & Gold are supposed to be free later this month along with more stuff.

The PSN+ thread on gaf drives me crazy.  So many Sony shills since the only people who would have paid for the service and convinced themselves it was good from the very start are the Sony extremists.

They are so PRO-SONY and PSN+ IS ALREADY A FANTASTIC DEAL, that any talk of making the service a better value to get more consumers by having more day 1 free titles like Stacking is met by OH NO THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE BECAUSE IT WOULD GIVE THE CONSUMER MORE VALUE THEN THEY ARE PAYING.

smhhhhh.  It's like this vacuum world where Steam and Netflix other highly competitive DD services that give you ridiculous value for your money in order to be competitive don't exist.

It just doesn't look fun at all. Looking at similar games, this game looks boring and slow.

Maybe Brad just can't play it well.

I'm pretty sure there aren't similiar games, and once again if you watched the fucking video you'd see how fast paced it really is as most levels are designed to be finished in 3 minutes, not the 25 Brad spent.

jesus you are a terrible journalist. I hope TeamXbox is recruiting.

I can't ask on gaf for ... reasons but

Isn't that what the bad guys looked liked in Beyond Good and Evil?  Would the perspective be Jade being stealthy beneath a manhole cover?  Beyond Good and Evil 2 not dead?

So I haven't really been paying attention, did Move and Kinect turn out to be bomba? Cuz I'm kinda hoping that the motion control thing really did turn out to be a fad.

have you been living in a hole? :(

Kinect is immensely popular and one of the biggest bullet points of last year's holiday season alongside the ipad and kindle.

Move is turning into another EyeToy-- it's just kind of there.  Kinect at least has lots of different titles announced (who knows if they'll turn out to be good.)

Sony is dropping the ball with Move, not realizing that it could have been a hell of a lot more popular with a Kinect-style ad campaign and better software support.  I don't know why they think they can just release shit and not support it with aggressive marketing, particularly when it's directly competing with Kinect.  They even released it well before Kinect, but still got their asses destroyed this past holiday season.  Sony doesn't seem to understand the concept of capitalizing on momentum.  If I wasn't a forum nerd, I would barely know the thing exists, let alone give a shit about it.

Just the controllers. I see bundles everywhere, but the standalone controllers are always gone. A friend of mine has been looking for one for a while now, and I've been helping him look. It's odd.
