Good lord, I forgot about that one.

The music was pretty sweet though :trumps

Has anyone ever bothered to play the fan "remake" Dracula's shadow?

No, but there is a good patch for the NES version that fixes the dialogue and brings over the FDS music and I played that.

Either watch on mute or skip to 0:25 as the voice acting is only so-so but some jank aside frankly looks to have more interesting swordplay and creative environmental tricks for a student game made by eight than TW3 with its famed swordsman protag :lol

The moment they short dodged I could not see any difference any more. Dropping that chandelier was pretty cool though.

Oh, it's already out. Too bad I can't try it yet... I thought your assessment was based on the trailer. :doge

It's a student project, takes about 30 minutes to play. You can download it for free [or donate some money to the devs if you want]:

Sounds like new GPUs might be next year even.

That said, I will never pay more than $300 for a 1070. Thars what they should cost at this point.

I somehow feel we've gotten to a point where there's not a whole lot of room to improve graphics quality and deliver content in that quality.
Nvidia and AMD are probably waiting for stuff like Cyberpunk and BG&E2 to ship. I recently got a 4K HDR TV and everything looks incredible on the Xbox One X.
Which is basically just a souped up Xbox One. I also see no need to replace my 980GTX Ti until Cyberpunk ships. It will run BFV like a charm.

With 4K adoption rates only hitting ~25% (average Europe+US+Asia) by 2020 that's when I expect the next big leap with new consoles.

So the roadmap would be:
- 2018/2019 - next gen GPU's from Nvidia for early adaptors / catch-up for wearable and handheld tech
- 2019 - new streaming platforms / pricedrop for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X
- 2020 - next gen consoles (maybe Sony could sneak in a 2019 launch)

On the short term I could see Microsoft release a 'cheaper' Xbox One X in 2019 with less storage and the the Blu Ray playback and cinema features removed.
Most new games presented at E3 were 2019 titles and still targeting Xbox One (X) / PS4 (Pro). Except for BG&E2 and Cyberpunk.
From what I'm looking at there's simply not enough exclusive software to support a PS5 or Xbox Two yet.

In 2020 we're probably looking at titles like Starfield, the next Final Fantasy and BG&E2 which would make for a killer launch.

https://www.pcgamer.com/all-this-time-aliens-colonial-marines-stupid-ai-may-have-been-caused-by-a-single-typo/
Quote
Now look at how they behave after fixing the typo. In my experience, they're not only considerably more aggressive, they're also much better at tracking the player. As an experiment, I tried just running away from one, a maneuver which would normally confound a xenomorph, and it stayed right on my tail.

The change is less noticeable in some situations, and it's tough to say just from playing how much of the xenomorphs' clumsiness was caused by this typo, but they certainly seem to move more efficiently once it's corrected. They waste less time getting to the player, crawl and lunge more often, and generally move in more of a beeline rather than their usual drunken stroll. I mean, they're still plenty dopey, but hey, what did you expect?

https://www.moddb.com/mods/templargfxs-acm-overhaul/news/the-biggest-bug-in-the-game-is-just-one-letter-long
Quote
A new update will be coming soon with this change included, however after getting reports back from several players on how much this effects the game, I just had to post it now

Inside your games config file (My Document\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config\PecanEngine.ini) is the following line of code :

ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTeather

Im sure you'll notice the spelling mistake

ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTether

If you fix it to look like the above and then play the game, the difference is pretty crazy!

Why is this line important? There are two reasons :
1) AttachXenoToTether doesn't do anything. Its basically empty or stripped
2) AttachPawnToTether does ALOT. It controls tactical position adjustment, patrolling and target zoning

When a Xeno is spawned, it is attached to a zone tether. This zone tells the Xeno what area is its fighting space and where different exits are. In Combat, a Xeno will be forced to switch to a new tether (such as one behind you) so as to flank, or disperse so they aren't so grouped up etc. (*disclaimer* this is inferred opinion, I cant see the actual code only bits)

Whenever the game tried to do this, nothing happened. Now it does!

Koei Tecmo kicked off a new VR cabinet last year called “VR Sense” that adds a new twist to VR amusement, such as being able to “smell” the girls in Dead or Alive Xtreme Sense.

Each time you win in Dead or Alive Xtreme Sense it “upgrades” the swimsuit of the girls. There’s a misting function that sprays water on you when getting splashed in the game.

To take things to another level, when you get closer to a heroine, the VR machine emits a scent that’s meant to be their perfume to give it a more realistic dimension to the VR experience.

I got the Persona dancing triple pack on PS4 for $70 at Amazon JP ($60 plus $10 shipping).  I think it's a good price as it retails for ~$150.  Apparently it's the worst selling Persona spinoff ever so I can see why it was so heavily discounted even though the game has only been out for a few months.

The PS4 triple pack is P3/P4/P5. $70 is a great price for it and it's a solid music game. P3/P5 are not as good as P4 and both are content light, but combined there's enough good music and enough content to justify a full game.

What's the point of even using the IP. These usually look nothing like the real games, people who recognize the IP won't give a shit, others who get into it because of the animu will not care about the name.

I don't understand it either. At least the FF QOL/gatcha games use the sprites from the old games (or slightly updated ones). This can be any generic gatcha mobile game from the last 10 years.

It's a nice game, I can see it's really crafted ( :doge ) toward pleasing the Minecraft generation. The graphics are really good but damn, it feels like work. Eh, people have kinda figured out the correct movement speed and some other things to make it work. Some of the biggest things that still don't work well are going fast, and sudden changes in elevation.

Snagged a brand new copy of Mega Man X Command Mission for Game Cube yesterday, off Amazon, for $60.  Couldn't believe it was that cheap and it must have been a used game, but it came this morning and nope...factory sealed.  Holy shit.
:leon

Found a mom n' pop video game store about 40 minutes away and decided to go get rid of all the remaining Saturn, Xbox, 360, NES, SNES, and N64 stuff, plus some various doubles and 'junk' games that I didn't feel like bothering with listing online.  Also took the 10 or so rare titles I have for those platforms and brought them along, but figured I wouldn't get a good offer.

Most of the XBox and 360 stuff were imports that nobody seemed to want.  Couldn't even get rid of them last time I was in Japan because stores don't want that shit anymore.  Was amazed that they took everything.  The store owner wasn't there, but has this policy of not paying cash for imports and only giving store credit.  Not really sure why.  He was willing to pay me cash if I sold them the rare games, but that was a big nope- collectively these games could sell as high as $2,000...they wanted to give me $450 total.   :doge  I know I'm not gonna get eBay prices, but come on.

So I ended up with $350 in cash for the American stuff.  Then I got $300 in store credit for the Japanese stuff, which I promptly blew on:

Buster Bros. Collection (PS1)
Breath Of Fire III (PS1)
Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 2 (GBA)
Aggressive Inline (GC)(It was $6!)
P3P Persona 3 Portable (PSP)(New)
Nurse Love Addiction Medkit Edition (Vita)(New)

Not going to open the latter two games- The last one is a Limited Run Games release that had 1500 copies released worldwide.  The markup was only ten bucks over the original price, so I jumped on that.  The store had a pretty good selection of LRG games so I may head back to pick up some of the ones I'm missing at some point in the future, but it's kind of far, which is why I decided to just use as much of the credit I got while I was in there.

Getting $650 for a bunch of stuff I thought I might get like $200-$300 for at most was pretty awesome.  I was about to dump all those J-Xbox games in the trash.

I'm putting together a "Videogame Name That Tune" contest for the local retro gaming expo (which has been getting pretty big, this year we have Jeremy Parish, Kurt Kalata from Hardcore Gaming 101, The 8 Bit Guy, Pete Dorr, and RGT85)... one of the categories I have is indie games... have the first stage from Shovel Knight, Miami Disco, a song from Undertale, etc (since these seem to be some of the most well known indies)... but one thing I was wondering - whether or not you would consider Life Is Strange indie? I know it was published by SE, but the 'feel' (especially the music) is pretty indie... wanted to use this song because I like it:

Noah is my favorite critic. Above all else, he can shine a light on a game and specific aspects of that game in such a unique (and comparatively to other games critics, uncynical) way that can really change how I appreciate those games. Specifically to that video, how he interpreted the meta narrative of the franchise really makes me want to go back to Max Payne 3 and reexamine my own criticisms of it.

I love that he's willing to do incredibly deep dives and like you said, tends to favor franchise and genre reviews/overviews instead of a single game. He loves context hah.

I really like Raycevick as well

I sat down and listened to the Dissidia NT ost for the first time.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaan, I don't know what this 192 track monstrosity is, but it sure ain't music. There have been lots of FF arrangements over the decades but it's like they were trolling Tecmo and made the absolute worst garbage FF arrangements possible to flood the soundtrack. Also I like Ska, a lot, but there is good ska and then there is this:

Every arrangement is just a fucking messssssssssssssssss:

It's like every song is the original song at a sped up tempo for no reason at all:
